The right to own a gun is a constitutional right that needs to be protected for our own safety. Gun Control should not be a question, if people use guns correctly like for hunting, protection and safety, everything would be fine. People need to stop using guns for violence and use them the right way. We have the right to carry guns and that right should not be taken away. People that don't use guns the right way should not ruin gun use for everyone, if you have not committed a crime with that gun it shouldn't be taken away. We need to protect the second amendment because guns protect us, if there is a robber in your house you would want a gun to protect yourself, maybe not to hurt the person but to threaten them because you never know what kind of weapons they have on them. 34% of …show more content…
Guns are used 2.5 million times a year for self defense if we didn't have these guns for self defense so many other people would be killed and injured from other people.
I believe laws on guns are fine just like they are. Felons cannot have guns and it is illegal to sell guns to felons. People that can't own guns is felons that were in prison for more than one year, illegal drug users, people who have been committed to mental institutions, people that have escaped from prison and people who have domestic violence restraining orders. If they made sure these people never got a hold of a gun than we would not have problems of people killing people and gun violence.
There should not be too many laws on guns because of the American citizens that would not be giving them the rights in the Constitution if they took them away. The American people would feel too restricted from their rights of using a firearm.
There should not be gun registration because that could take a long time to do paperwork, and who is going to view all the stuff on there and read it if there is a lot of paperwork to fill
Gun Laws need to be regulated for multiple reasons. For one thing multiple sources including the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention have listed the United States as having the highest rate of firearm violence among industrialized nations and being the leader in per-capita gun deaths among industrialized nations. The CDC about one hundred thousand americans are victims of gun violence and thirty thousand people die from gun related wounds every year. As If those 4 stats weren’t enough to justify guns being regulated, we still have to worry about things like gun shows which use loopholes in our current laws to sell guns to mentally ill people or former felons which are then used to help contribute to the multiple school shootings that we’ve seen over the years and other gun related crimes.
The U.S. should not have gun control laws. The Second Amendment to the Constitution states that, “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” This amendment has been around since 1791, and there has been gun control almost as long as it's been around. The National Rifle Association is an advocate of the Second Amendment and an opponent of those who propose restrictions on guns. Even Presidents Reagan and Bush are members, and Nixon, Eisenhower, and Kennedy were also members. Why do people feel the need to own a handgun? One reason is heritage. For as long as this country has been around, there have been gun owners, to defend themselves and to hunt for food. Buying, owning, or carrying a handgun doesn't hurt anyone. Until a person commits a crime, he/she is free to choose what he/she wants to do. Even if guns were completely banned from the U.S.A., people would still find a way to get them. Criminals would get guns. They would have their way, and there would be nothing we could do about it. We would have no way to defend ourselves. What is gun control to you? To me, it is the unconstitutional regulation and banning of guns to try to keep the crime rates in this country down. Does it work? Some gun laws are okay and they may work to some extent, but not to the extent that was intended. As for most of these gun laws such as the Brady Law, it serves no purpose. It is only there to make our lawmaking bodies and those of us who are too naive to see the truth feel better. Do you really think that the Brady Law keeps handguns out of the hands of criminals?
Left, right, Liberal, Conservative, Democratic, Republican. There are a lot of synonyms for the sides of our nation divided. Divided on many things: religion, political views, morals, etc.. For a nation that prides ourselves on extraordinary security and unity, it is quite ironic that so many issues can cause such distress and uproar within communities. One such issue is gun control. As a white male in a middle-lower class family that has never owned a gun, I may be somewhat biased. Objectively as I can, I am going to report the facts and more importantly, try to find the core issues at play.
In The United States of America there are lots of problems that are plaguing our nation. Gun Control is a problem that there is lots of controversy over. This is a problem that had a fire reignited under it when on December 14, 2012 a school in Connecticut was attacked. Many legislative bills have been introduced since then. (Focus of U.S Gun Control Shifts to States Year after Newtown Shooting) There are lots of issues that we have in our community with Gun Control that we have controversy over: background checks, age, classes, military guns, pistols, shotguns, and rifles. All of these things are apart of the plague in our Nation.
Gun control has been a controversial issue for many years. A vast majority of citizens believe that if gun control is strictly enforced it would quickly reduce the threat of crime. Many innocent people feel they have the right to bear arms for protection, or even just the pleasure of hunting. Americans have a constitutional right to own hand guns and stricter laws and licensing will not affectively save lives.
Americans are faced with a huge problem of violence in the streets, these streets have become a place where old people are beaten for their social security checks, where little women are attacked and raped, where teen aged thugs shoot it out for some turf to sell their illegal drugs, and finally where small children everyday are caught in the way of bullets during drive by shootings. We try to ignore the criminals in our society and how they hurt it, but we shouldn’t. We should take actions to stop these acts of crazy people. And people try, but the hard work of some misguided individuals to stop the legal ownership of guns doesn’t really affect the problem at all, and takes the guns from the innocent citizens, who simply want means of self defense.
Gun control is one of the most debatable topics. Some people have personal reasons for wanting guns or not… not all people should have guns, but not all people should be trusted to drive a car, but they are still given a licence. It's not the guns killing the people it's the people pulling the trigger.
Gun control, in and of itself, is not evil or even a bad idea. The biggest issue is that, for the most part, it is not particularly successful.
I believe that gun ownership should be completely restricted. Guns only promote violence. Limiting who can buy guns can only do so much. Even running background checks, to determine who would be mentally stable to own a gun would not prevent someone who cannot obtain a firearm himself. “The fact that people with problematic criminal and mental histories can own semi automatic and automatic weapons means that we need more laws passed to limit gun ownership even further.”” Such things would only promote a person to find someone, such as a close relative, to get the the firearm they would choose to have. However, permitting or forbidding guns completely would lead to an excess of problems. We would be left in a situation such that, only law enforcement officials would have all the authority and the weapons to control us more. These facts pose this argument, but it would be in the best interests to ban gun ownership, as crime rate and death rate would both decrease
Laws have been proposed to try to help this issue, like Bill H.R 4269. Some of the laws are harmful and should not be passed. The bill proposed by Representative David Cicilline bill H.R. 4269. It puts a ban to many firearms and only excludes a certain few. Also the bill would criminalize the sale or transfer of many firearms already in circulation. That would mean criminals would have a greater access to guns
Gun control is one of the most controversial and one of the most talked about topics in the U.S. Some believe that if guns are taken away that there will be less violence and that the death rate may even go down. While others believe that they have a right to bare arms like it states in the constitution. One of the most talked about reasons on why gun control should be stricter is the obvious: guns are not safe. But what people don’t understand is that everytime a gun is purchased a criminal background check is done right away. What people are unaware if is that the majority of people who purchase guns have already bought one in the past. Another talked about issue is the Right to Bear Arms. The Right to Bear arms has been in the constitution for decades. The constitution is not just something you can edit and re-write everytime you see a problem with it or think its “outdated”
Gun violence in America is a public health crisis, which needs to be recognized and changed by legislatures, and the voting American. As conscious Americans, we need to vote for changes to gun laws that would improve background checks nation-wide, make firearm registration mandatory, restrict the sale of assault weapons and weapon modifications that give the shooter military-grade fire power, and invest in gun-safe technology and safe firearms storage designs. This type of technology will help prevent criminally oriented people from accessing guns, and will help prevent the accidental deaths of many children by guns. This essay will explain the reforms needed to help ensure Americans can still exercise their 2nd amendment right of owning firearms, and preventing the unnecessary deaths of many Americans at the same time.
Gun control has stirred an incredible amount heated debates and controversy in this country. Both sides believe that their view is the correct view. The question remains: Will controlling firearms result in less firearm deaths? The answer to that question is no. This is both proven and obvious. First is the point that criminals have never and will never obey the law, which is why they are criminals. The United Kingdom has an incredibly strict gun control policy but yet their murders involving a knife or other sharp edged weapons has a dramatic increase compared to our own. The second point is that there is already gun control implemented in many places, so gun control can easily be studied. The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence studies and ranks all 50 states from the most strict to the most lenient. When comparing this with the FBI database of crime reports it will show that the strictest gun law states have the highest rate of firearm related murders than the state that is much more lenient. These two points come together to show that gun control will not work and is impractical.
The debate over gun control in America has constantly brought up over the years due to gunmen killing large amounts of civilizations in shootings. From Columbine to Sandy Hook or the shootings of the two reporters in West Virginia, these public shootings are occurring everywhere. Lawmakers and civilians alike are pushing for increased gun control in hopes of preventing the same tragedies. Anybody that has been affected by the shootings have been pushing Congress and state governments to force new sanctions on government. With the past three years, Congress has shot down all the laws despite the large amounts of public support. Adding more gun control isn’t going to stop the mass shootings from happening.
