The first video “ Vote Different ” is an antithesis mash-up campaign. It used to imply how Hilary Clinton is an un-fit presidential candidate. The campaigner uses different components in the advert to emphasize how she's an un-fit candidate. The mash-up is from the Apple Macintosh advert in 1984, which alludes to the novel by George Orwell. 3. The mash-up campaign features non-diegetic and diegetic sounds. There are examples of diegetic sounds (sirens and alarms) which are effective in the advert. The use of these sounds alludes to the imprisonment of the American people under Hilary’s governing rule. 4. There is a variety of camera angles within this mash-up that regularly change to a new image. The first shot is the tube, which the " prisoners" are walking through. This shows how the prisoners are symbolic to Clinton's ruling. It is effective on the audience as it focuses on the point of uniformity and lack of individuality. Thus people are more inclined to vote for …show more content…
We later see the camera stress the importance of this girl, when it uses a wide camera angle to capture the distraught faces. It is the proceeded by the vibrant girl who is representative of Obama. The camera’s detail of Mrs. Clinton as “ Big Brother “ focuses on the association with the young girl and the direct negative correlation between them . This correlation adduces to the freedom of America and the oppressive Hilary Clinton. 7. The utilization of bleak, dull and deaden colours implies how the ruling of America, under the supervision of Hilary Clinton, is correspondent to the said tone. The aesthetics of the advert are dark and dull. However the girl, who is portrayed as an “intriguing” character, is used to depict the symbolic ideology of freedom. This ideology is relevant as Obama often talked about freedom of race and ethnicity in his speech. 8. At the end of the video there is an explosive ending to show how Obama will tear down the prior political norms, if he is elected. This is further implied as the girl is wearing the American flag colours, where-as the rest of the people are in black and white. This may also be a direct link to how Obama was the first black president of the USA, as the girl is unlike the other people . The campaign subtly hints at how Obama is dedicated to his political campaign, which is symbolized through the girl wearing headphones to keep focus on her “

After watching the movie, Miss Representation, I have decided to use Dove’s new Real Beauty Campaign. I believe this company accurately counteracts the emotions and anxieties facing our female population in this generation by confronting them. I believe they antagonize what every other company chooses to exploit in order for their consumers to buy their products. Using the vocabulary provided in our textbook, I will define pathos and ethos along with their sub terms to analyze the advertisement. With so many advertisements and companies influencing women of our society to conform to a mold, Dove is sending a different message. After describing the ad, I will then use the rhetorical tools I have chosen to analyze and explain them.
The meaning of a picture results in different opinions from many viewers. These images, such as artwork and advertisement, have become a source of communication in this new age of society. The advertisement I chose was a Coach perfume advertisement, a popular brand marketed towards women. This advertisement has a combination of physical features: lighting, text, and camera angles. These provoke an emotional appeal received by pampering with the perfume and gathering a sensation of love and peace, causing the audience to buy this product. A woman is born a nurturing loving creature. The world can make a woman harsh and intimidating, but when wearing this perfume it brings out the natural essence and reminds women of their true power but also
The advertisement's rich red coloring immediately strikes a viewer with exciting and salacious overtones. The red lettering, border, cigarette package, and swimsuit all emphasize social and physical pleasure. The other colors' absence only strengthens the red coloring's implications.
The signs employed within the ad and the connection between signifiers and the signified were subjective and based on cultural representations. The denotative and connotative meanings that a message represents along with ‘doctrine of sign’s’ known as iconic, indexical and symbolic dimensions engaged by the advertiser to send ideology and mythical messages within the Katy Perry ad, such as wealth, authority and beauty are desirable and this can be attained if you buy this perfume. On a border and more thought provoking ideological level, the ad could perhaps interpret the message of freedom, prosperity and justice that women have culturally fought for throughout history. The basis of the selling pitch of the advert is sex, beauty and wealth. A contradiction perhaps, is an alternate meaning with the syntagm “Own the Throne’ intentionally placed underneath her genital area with Katy’s legs crossed. This may signify a deeper meaning that she is truly the one that ‘owns’ her sexuality not the advertiser. It is crucial advertiser’s understand that accomplishment of linguistic and non-linguistic communication is a result of the integrated system of cultural norms that allows potential buyers, to organise their world and give collective representations. In order to permit the reader to receive and successfully decode the
The bold print also indicates for the woman to remove her clothes, or for the viewer to do so. Everything is very clean, clear, and appealing to the eye. There is a highlight around the woman’s body leaving her look like she’s glowing. The weight scale is indicating that the woman has lost weight and she is shocked by how much she weighs now. The company displays this petite woman which advertises, if you drink their product then the consumers can look like her. This add is posing as a sex symbol for men and is showing younger women that they should look like this woman in the ad. This ad is also indicating that only ‘sexy’ and ‘healthy’ woman can produce healthier milk.

Though at first glance, the woman is depicted as the inferior while she caters to the man, and is also quite devalued as a person as she is wearing revealing clothing, there appears to be an underlying competition between the man and woman in the advertisement, this is emphasized by the colors and symbols. The woman uses sex and alcohol to weaken the man, in attempt to gain some dominance in the man’s world. However, from the advertisment’s title, it is seen that the actions of the female are “antagonistic.” The woman is criticized for her techniques at achieving power yet the male is not criticized for objectifying women or using them to fulfill sexual fantasies. While an advertisement for Skyy Vodka, this ad presents the world of a successful, white male and warns him against the young seductress, desperate for power.
190) Lastly, I will discuss the most significant instalment of Fairey’s career, the 2008 Obama HOPE campaign. This work infused visual styles of street art into a traditional sector of advertising aesthetic, political campaign posters – and consequently created a new kind of cultural aesthetic. As a result of this creativity, The HOPE poster uses many conventions of U.S poltical advocacy, for example, deploying the cliché of celebrity pose and political affirmation in its image of a leader looking off toward an imagined horizon.
The advert is for a new product called ‘WOMAN’ that they are adding to their line of fragrances. The first thing that is noticed about this advert is the colour. It is very contrasting with the black and white, and gives a big impact to the audience. The white usually signifies innocence but with the black background it’s suggesting hidden depths, like a wild side that you could have. The model’s look is very confident, like she can get
Hemingway’s writing style is not the most complicated one in contrast to other authors of his time. He uses plain grammar and easily accessible vocabulary in his short stories; capturing more audience, especially an audience with less reading experience. “‘If you’d gone on that way we wouldn’t be here now,’ Bill said” (174). His characters speak very plain day to day language which many readers wouldn’t have a problem reading. “They spent the night of the day they were married in a Bostan Hotel” (8). Even in his third person omniscient point of view he uses a basic vocabulary which is common to the reader.
1. “The idea-associative montage juxtaposes two seemingly disassociated events to create a third principal idea or concept—that is not contained in either of the montage parts” (Zettl, page 402). One such idea-associative montage is comparison idea-associative montage which comprises of shots that are juxtaposed thematically related events or objects to establish the same basic theme or idea. Video commercials still make frequent use of comparison montages because they must get complex messages across in a short time. Mazda created a commercial in which helps to explain this type of comparison idea-associative montage (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbXRA9TYFyU). The video shows a cheetah turning into a Mazda CX-5 to help show the cars versatility
“The Campaign” sets the reality of real life Campaigns When it comes down to the very moment it is human nature for most to do whatever it takes to win, because let’s face it no one wants to lose no one wants to feel like they are less than anyone. The Campaign is a perfect example of this human selfishness. In the movie “The Campaign” (2012) starring Will Ferrell who plays cam Brady and Zach Galifianakis who plays Marty Huggins, has won two awards which are the Golden Trailer and The BMI Film Music Award and were also nominated for four other awards. This movie was written by Adam McKay, Chris Henchy, and Shawn Harwell and directed by Jay Roach costing a grand total of ninety-five million dollars and only making about one hundred
The visuals of the two women is the most overwhelming feature of the advertisement that beholds to some an explicit racial implication, which may force readers into interpreting the advertisement as predominantly racist rather than promotional. Although Sony’s aim was to promote this product, the visual of the white woman strangling the black woman may cause audiences to interpret the ad as a racial superiority statement rather than a mere ad campaign. The difference in size between the product (bottom lefthand side) and the visual of the two women calls for more attention to the image of the two women, which depicts a dominance of white over black. A Japanese audience where due to the homogenous aspect of society, the introduction of a new color such as white is special as it is something new and distinct compared to what was then previously available. On the other hand, an American audience will be discomforted by the way in wh...
Although admittedly some scenes have a comical side to them, Besson's fast paced action and gruesome images hold the tension and suspense brilliantly. His use of close-ups and camera movements, especially the subjective stance used by the victim, convey the feelings felt by the characters and the way in which they behave. Sound plays a crucial role in the opening sequence because, in my view, it is used to control the level of suspense and intrigue.
