Teaching theories are as much part of the classroom as the student and the teacher. The effect individual theories have on an environment depends how they are incorporated within the classroom in addition to the influence they have had on the curriculum construction. This essay will briefly look at how motivation theory, cognitive and social cognitive theory along with constructivism have impacted on education and the classroom.
In this lesson, all three dimensions of the Quality Teaching Framework [QTF] are used to ensure pedagogy that promotes intellectual quality, a quality learning environment and ensures the significance of their work is known to students (NSW Department of Education and Training [DET], 2003). To guide my practice in meeting the needs of the students within this class, I have focused on substandards 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 3.1, 3.5, 4.1, 4.3, and 5.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership [AITSL], 2011).
Over the course of this term, I have learned several helpful techniques to incorporate in my own tutoring sessions. I’ve also learned about problems that can arise when tutoring and how to avoid making poor decisions.
Whenever the benefits of inclusion are brought up the first component that comes to mind is: social interaction. The benefits of social interaction is the most important component for including children with autism in an inclusion, general education setting (Lynch & Irvine, 2009). The reason this benefit is so high within a general education setting is that interactions occur at a greater frequency. Typical peers that meet cor...
“Changing Educational Paradigms” is a video where Sir Ken Robinson explains why he believes the current educational system has to change in order to stop the rise of American students being treated for ADHD. Robinson reveals that schools haven’t changed since the 18th century where the enlightenment and the industrial revolution had a lot to do with how American schools were designed to work. American schools are still organized based on the production line mentality, and intelligence was based off deductive reasoning and knowledge of the classics, all of this is deep in the academic gene pool. Robinson states that while they are trying to change the educational system they are doing so by doing what they did in the past. Which is something
Learning assistants come from a variety of departments, including math and science. They attend the class they are assigned to, along with their regular classes. Here, they act as a
A child’s development is observed, assessed and recorded by the teaching staff, including teaching assistant, throughout their academic life. This can be done in many ways such as observations, guided reading, maths assessments, phonic assessments, writing tasks, art projects, teacher assessment of course work, SAT's and later on O Levels and A level exams.
For example, not every laboratory section has a learning assistant currently, which may call for greater or more novel outreach efforts. Also, based on my interview with Dr. van Koppen, teaching assistants undergo teaching assistant training but the session does not include any priming on how to interact with learning assistants. To reiterate, studies done by Colvin show that “instructors, tutors, and students all need to find a common ground about what it means to be, or use, a tutor in a particular classroom” (“Peer Tutoring” 178). Teaching assistant training could prove to be useful in improving the efficacy of the learning assistants in the laboratory and therefore the success of the program as a whole.

In my teaching practice, as a Health and Social Care Teacher, I try to identify and meet individual learner needs, boost their morale and encourage them using all the necessary available and on target resources. Values and attitudes were influencing the way our students were learning at all times; therefore, they are considered an important part of the curriculum, hence the purpose of teaching and learning resources is mostly to provide a source of learning experience for our students.
"Lifelong self-images are formed by how successful we are in school." (Discover Your Child's Learning Style, 7) "To educate is to develop mentally, morally, or aesthetically especially by instruction" (Webster). Education has been the foundation of America since the beginning of her time. Whether that education was through experiences, parental guidance, or public schooling, education has always guided America's people. In our current time there are many questions as to how we will educate the next generation. "There is a self-motivated, eager learner in every child." (Discover Your Child's Learning Style, 3). We can accomplish this through understanding the following: the growth of the human mind, the three types of learning, the foundation of education, valuing education, and last but certainly not least, what makes a good teacher.
