Hello everyone, I’m Christopher Segovia! My extra-curricular activities involve of training and hunting with wild caught Hawks and Falcons, training Homing Pigeons, and raising various species of reptiles. The person who has influenced my life would be the late Steve Irwin, he brought out my sense of adventure as well as exposing the truth and wonders of the animals that inhabit our planet, with this being said he made it very clear that extinction is a very vast and ever growing problem with in world today; since the airing of his show and since I was of age to truly understand his message it has been my goal and dream to bring awareness as well as a stop to the rapidly growing epidemic of animals facing extinction. My future plans consist
of hopefully making it to my California to obtain and finish my zoology degree where I will attempt to obtain a job somewhere along the east coast working as a zoologist in some of the largest zoos in the U.S.
I am sure almost all of you have either been to or heard of SeaWorld. Today I am going to tell you about what they do to their orcas that they are trying to hide. I chose this topic after watching a documentary called “Blackfish” that goes into the behind the scenes of how SeaWorld treats its animals. I have since done further research online to prepare for this presentation. This is an important topic because you should know what kind of company you are funding and behaviors you are endorsing when you go on your vacations to this destination. Today I am going to persuade you that SeaWorld is corrupt and maltreats its animals, specifically the orcas. First, I will talk about the specific way the orcas are treated and how it affects them
Underwater shark nets make us feel safer at the beach, but are we? That’s the question. Are we safe? There are lots of possibilities that the shark, with sharp like knife teeth, may outsmart us. Because of shark attacks we use nets, called shark nets. However, that doesn’t mean nets used in the past prevented shark attacks. These nets don’t only trap sharks they trap other sea creatures.

If you were forced to live inside of a bathtub your entire life wouldn 't you get a little agitated? These words give insight to what is the tragic life of a captive orca whale in Seaworld. Beautiful and majestic creatures are turning into bloodthirsty bitter creatures due to the unnatural living environments they are forced in to. These animals are victims to the brutal tyrant that is Seaworld.
As a result, I will become a better critical thinker. By applying this knowledge to real life situations, I can make positive impacts on issues that cause harm to the world. I like to consider myself an animal rights activist. My primary motivation in life is to ensure wildlife is respected. Currently, several animals are being abused for ridiculous reasons. The process of killing or torturing an animal is inhumane and barbaric. I dislike seeing innocent animals mistreated so that we can wear their skin on our bodies, or have their limbs stored in our fridges for food. Someday I would love to change this issue and fight for the lives of the poor animals, which do not get the choice to voice their opinions. If accepted into this program, I will develop better communication and analytical skills, which will help me with fulfilling my aspirations in
Fifty-million plastic bags enter the Australian waters every year, causing the death of thousands of sea creatures. Imagine you went on a trip to the Great Barrier Reef. As you arrive, it is clear to see garbage floating on the ocean and you can only imagine what rubbish lies beneath the surface. This disturbs me! What are we doing to our beautiful, yet innocent marine life?
First degree murder is generally defined as the unlawful killing of a human being that was either deliberate or premediated or takes place at the same time as certain other crimes such as, kidnapping. Current state laws make first degree murder punishable by death or life imprisonment without the possibility of parole when specific “Special Circumstances” of the crime have been charged or been proven in court. It is possible though to be released by the parole board after a minimum of 25 years if they feel you are worthy. The death penalty is a topic that the United States is divided on. Currently there are 31 states with the death penalty and California is on that list. In 2012 a ballot was proposed that would appeal the death penalty
Attention getter: Lion, tigers, and bears, oh my! When the circus comes rolling into town, many people are excited to go and that is all that is talked about; about the clowns, the trapeze artists, the ring leader, the elephants and all the other marvelous wonders of the circus. But would you all still be excited to go if you knew the truth about the circus and the animal trainers of how they treat the animals? Because in reality, for our spirits to raise at the circus, they break the spirits of all the animals, especially the elephants.
When making an argument or using persuasion, pictures are useful in that they can be intricate and persuade the audience in a certain way that the text alone could not. However, the simultaneous ability of pictures to be simplistic and natural also makes them ideal for delivering ideas that are modest and blunt. The Endangered Wildlife Trust combined this ability with text to contradict a persuasive technique, common belief, among its audience and inspire a specific type of action.
Have you ever wondered, how it feels to be in a place where is overcrowded, and you are next in line to be euthanize? This is the life of the shelter animal when no one adopts them for a certain period of time. According to American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or known as ASPCA, each year, approximately 2.7 million animals are euthanized, which are 1.2 million dogs and 1.4 million cats. I am sure; most of you have some point in your life, owned a dog or a cat. Whether you are an animal lover or not, you don’t want to see innocent animals losing their lives. I personally have adopted a dog from a local shelter. There is no doubt that pet adoption from a shelter is a satisfying decision that will save innocent
Imagine a world where there are no animals anywhere. There are still the ordinary cows, pigs, cats, dogs, but there is not a single tiger or rhinoceros. People all around the world have been killing animals for thousands of years and they need to stop and obey the laws. Make your voice heard for the animals; they can’t speak for themselves so we need to do it for them. Other reasons on why animals are getting put on the endangered species list and or going extinct: habitat intrusion, pet trade, climate change, and disease. Please help to save the animals or they won’t be here any longer.
Death is something that kisses almost everyone at one time in their life. Either one of your grandparents die, one of your parents die or a beloved friend dies. You are always told by your parents to wear your seatbelt when you are in a car so you don’t get in a car accident and die. Also, you are told to eat all your vegetables so you can be healthy and not die, because death is a scary thing. There comes a time when death doesn’t start to feel so scary, like when you are old. When you’re old it doesn’t feel so scary because you’re starting to hit that age that signals that it’s the end of the circle of life. You’re born, you grow old, and then you die. This is a simple fact of life. It’s expected that someone of that age is going to die soon.
Engage: I will start with a question. How can we find out about our Earth’s past? We will be creating a KLW chart to find out what they know about fossils. I will show a video about what fossils mean. Then I will ask the students what they learn from the video. What is a fossil? Are fossils just animals? I will pass a bag to each group and they must try to figure out what kind of mold fossil it is. It could be an animal or a plant. What do you notice about this fossil?
Genocide: One of the most atrocious acts committed by man. Nelson Mandela once said, “I say to all those leaders: Do not look the other way, do not hesitate ... It is within your power to prevent a genocide.” While focusing on our domestic issues, the US should also side with the UN to help cease genocide. Without delay, these justifications support what the US should do when it comes to genocide.
