1. On the cartoon. When we contrasting between the two cartoons, we believe that the cartoon that representing Australian National Flag invokes critical thinking. That arguing certain points and needs further investigation. Firstly, taking the notes of the sixth stars for example. We would argue the start that used to express “the six reasons the health system doesn’t work” is a little bit fallacious. On the certain point, it raises doubt to the reader on the given definition. On the other hand, we also argue that the illustration given by the artist was an expression to criticize the government. The flag used as a satire to address the issues that maybe arise in Australia. In conclusion, the points that we’ve provided considered to be relevant as critical thinking process. Because the cartoon triggered the reader to interpret the meaning, value, interest etc. behind the cartoon itself. 2. On the “Green Banana” reading. …show more content…

...our in the development of Australian identity has been demonstrated through the ideas previously described. Our humour is very unique and is described as dry, anti-authoritarian, ironic, self-mocking and is able to stretch the boundaries of what is normally accepted by society. This humour plays an important part in the Australian Identity. Many events in Australia’s history have shaped our individual type of humour into what it is today such as the Anzacs at Gallipoli, early federation and settlement. Much of our humour has developed through times of great hardship such as the World Wars. Other countries see humour as a distinctive part of our identity. So it can now be seen that due to the overwhelming information explaining how and why humour is significant, that it can be realised that it played a very fundamental role in the development of Australian identity.
The 2014 Walkley Award winning documentary, "Cronulla Riots: the day that shocked the nation" reveals to us a whole new side of Aussie culture. No more she’ll be right, no more fair go and sadly no more fair dinkum. The doco proved to all of us (or is it just me?) that the Australian identity isn’t really what we believe it to be. After viewing this documentary
John Soluri 's Banana Cultures Agriculture, Consumption and Environmental Change in Honduras and the United States, (Which for spatial and repetitive purposes, I will refer to as Banana Cultures for the remainder of the paper), introduces the reader to a world of corporate greed, consumption, and environmental change using the history of the common, everyday, fruit, the banana. He explores the various political occurrences, health problems, and changes in mass media through the rise of the consumption of the banana in the United States, and around the globe.
...at these several events in our nation’s history have demoralised our reputation to other countries globally. To make us known as a better country to other nations, we’ve completely abolished the White Australia Policy, gave back the aborigines their freedoms and we were also the first country in the world to give women rights. Australia today in present day is now one of the most multicultural societies on Earth, and we definitely follow our values of mateship, acceptance and freedom.
Through numerous poetic techniques Paterson has shown that the Australian diversity is as diverse as the country itself. The Australian identity concerns the way Australia is viewed by other people. There are a variety of different aspects that contribute to this identity of Australia which include historical icons. Paterson recognizes how lucky we are to live on a land notorious for its diverse landscape. He is signaling that we are missing out and we need to cherish the great land we were given.

Let us take a look first at the main colour of the poster, it is kind of a mix mostly between red and orange with a bit of black. This is the colour of the outback; South Australia. It is the largest and most remote part of Australia which made up of dry, dusty deserts and few of streams and rivers. This place is called “the dead heart” by the early explorers due to its hostile to the inhabitants here (Erinn Banting, 2002). This area is an interesting place, contains the history of gold rush time and the history of those Indigenous people which is also known as Aborigines who were forced to move to live here. They were being driven away by the white European colonists by all sorts of reasons. According to Peggy (1993, p.1), these reasons varied from economic to political reasons. In the movie, there are a lot of scenes that filmed in wide angle to show the vast nature of Australia, including the outback, successfully describe the wild and imposing beauty of this land. So along with the scenes, the choice of the main colour in the design of the poster has made a great work to mention one famous...
Humans who live in different places that have different geographical conditions create culture, and people in different geographical conditions have different lifestyle, different demand, and different daily activities. Humans’ basic requirement of life was fulfilled with the development of human societies, then the new demand and problems occurred. As time went on, human started to analyze orthodox things, and that was the “prototype” of culture. Cultures in the current human’s society have many disparities due to their unique living environment, but people cannot make the judgment of different cultures. The existence of culture led the developing of human’s society; any country in the world cannot survive without its traditional culture. People should work on the interchange and communication on diverse cultures, but not look down on some other cultures.
Grief and loss often trigger a desire for a change of lifestyle or a reflection on one’s current lifestyle, goals, and living purpose. This experience of misery gives the opportunity for improvement of one’s life and an appreciation for the previously unnoticed aspects of life. short education and culture is correlated together. Education can influence culture or otherwise, vice versa. According to Vivekananda (2009) if there is a great culture, there is also high developed educational system behind it. For people who know more than one language, it is easier to establish a new relationship because they can easily talk to different people having no fear of being not understood. Those people tend to be more sociable and tend to show more respect and trust to other participants of the communication process. People who grow multilingual are more cosmopolitan after they grow up. In addition, those people are more willing to discover new aspects of life, to challenge themselves, and to experience other cultures and what they have to offer to them. Multilingual people show the tendency to be aware of the value of other cultures, and they are open to the new development and to various kinds of innovations. The knowledge of a language helps them to develop intercultural sensibility, and they recognize the need to learn other cultures. Moreover, discovering other cultures, people read the literature written in respective language and learn traditions connected to the language, which result in developing “fundamental thinking patterns of the target culture” in addition to the ones of the native culture (Liu). Considering all those aspects of personality development, multilingualism brings numerous benefits to the people in terms of the communication and learning new cultures. With regard to this, establishing connections with people from different cultures results in the expansion of one’s world perception and cultural awareness.
