Whitwell Middle School, in 2001 started a project called the paperclip project. It was put into motion when the teachers decided that they wanted to learn about the Jews and what happened to them during the holocaust. They wanted to learn about a new culture, teach about the tolerance that happened in the holocaust. They decided they would collect paper clips because it was a symbol during the holocaust. associated with the project wanted to collect 6 to 20 million paper clips. When word got out about what the school was doing, more people got involved and donated paper clips. A few celebrities got involved like Tom Hanks just to name one. Survivors of the holocaust were touched when they here'd about paperclip project. The survivors
came down and talked, some even donated to the project. The students and people helping the project came up with an idea. The idea was to get a Railcar and fill it up with paper clips as a memorial. They decided 6 million paper clips in the Railcar to represent the different groups of people who died in the holocaust. They opened it to the public in 2002, the total number of paper clips they collected was 20 to 24 million. That was the legacy of Whitwell Middle School.
What were your goals for this project? Our goals for this project is to raise at least $100 for Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, but also to earn a good grade. We decide to choose St. Jude because Manuela personally has a one year old boy and she had commented that she saw a television commercial were a young boy was suffering from this horrible disease, but unfortunately lost his battle against cancer. We want create consciousness that with just donating 63 cents a day and $19 a month we can make a big difference, which you can help save a life of one of these children. Families who kids are receiving treatment, they never receive a bill charging them transportation and other services for example St. Jude pays for the children who
During the second world war, the Nazis brainwashed children from kindergarten to university by having teachers going to class in their uniform and starting classes by saluting Hitler. This would happen around eight times every day. Jewish Teachers or teachers who did not agree with Hitler would be dismissed as Hitler introduced a new curriculum where PE was a major part of
It is important not to teach young children about the Holocaust, due to its gruesome, dark events and accounts. According to Steven Penn, an assistant principal in New Jersey, students need to focus on other things in Elementary School. However, by 7th/ 8th grade, students have gained maturity and can participate in
In schools, typically students are taught about the plight of groups such as the Jews
The Holocaust took place so long ago that my parents weren’t even born during the event. This being said, students are not learning about the tragedy that took place in the middle 1900’s because they have no one to teach them about this event. This is why my intended audience is college and high school students. Another audience that could also b...
teach about the Holocaust to children, it will be in vain if we do not
Paperclips are an everyday use in today's world. They hold our papers together, when we don’t want to use a stapler that will poke the unwanted holes into our paper. They also keep our papers organized and neat. There are many types of paper clips that were created, but only a few really were the ones. Over the many years, since ancient Eurasia, the clip has made its way through many patents, inventors, machines, and much more. There are many different colors, sizes, forms of paper clips.
One of my great difficulties with Kant's moral philosophy is that it suggests that our moral obligations leave us helpless when dealing with evil. “Kant's theory sets a high ideal of conduct and tells us to live up to that ideal regardless of what other persons are doing.” Imagine you are a character in a Shakespearean play and are watching your father getting murdered. He is the King and you aspire that one day you will take his place (Even though you know it won’t happen, because you’re a woman). Your brother takes the initiate to kill him and take his place. I’m sure you would not be thinking oh, it’s fine that he killed your father because being king is a great thing and it doesn’t matter how or why he got there. Most likely you’d be thinking to yourself: How can he become king by murdering my father? This is horrible and unjust. He does not have the entitlement to be king. Even though the people will accept him as king, but know the way he acquired this position was through murder. And they would pretend to like him, but out of fear or resentment, depending, perhaps, if the previous king was good or bad. If your brother had waited to become king, rather than murdering his own father to become king, then the means that he used to get to the end would’ve been better and the people would most likely have accepted him.
Charlie Dent quoted, “We in the United States should be all the more thankful for the freedom and religious tolerance we enjoy. And we should always remember the lessons learned from the Holocaust, in hopes we stay vigilant against such inhumanity now and in the future.” This quote tells children that, in the future they should remember what happened during the holocaust and not make the mistakes that the world made. In America teaching global conflicts should be mandatory to teach in schools. Important events such as the holocaust can teach children certain lessons for the future. it shows children how important it is for them to believe in their beliefs. Also to stand up for themselves and others.
Recommend one other type of research project that might have helped Fisher Price increase the profitability of their Rescue Heroes line. (For example, you might consider projects such as: further advertising copy testing, test market research, or research conducted using actual sales data obtained from product commercialization, etc.). Briefly describe how the research project would be conducted and what type of outcomes might Fisher-Price expect from this research.
There were many projects that successfully visualized interesting topics and a few in particular that stood out to me. The first one was called “Expectations vs Reality of The South”. This group essentially did a project comparing the typical stereotypes of the south with what the south actually is. They painted a double sided mural with stereotypical views of the south on one side like Honey Boo Boo and Duck Dynasty. On the other side they painted positive and realistic views of the south like Denny Chimes and the NASA base in Texas. The mural was also accompanied by a power point. This project was very visually pleasing to the eyes, was high quality, and successfully portrayed its topic. I personally believe that this project was the best of the projects not done by our classes. Another one displayed the negative effects of drinking on the body and academic performance. This one was interesting because it had three clusters of beer cans with each cluster symbolizing how much alcohol it would take to affect each group member. This project successfully communicated how harsh the over consumption of alcohol is for a person and included a number of interesting facts that were very informative. A project that I felt like did not stand out as much was one called “Recent Medical Advancements”. This project gave information on some of the recent medical advancements and was presented on a tri fold poster. As a
The class that I observed was a special education class. I chose to do this because I feel sometimes we as counselors lack the in support special education. So I wanted to be an outsider and a future counselor to observe to see what I know and what I can do. The staff that was present during this observation was Gerado Lara. I was observed that classroom for most of the day, from 9:10AM-2:00PM. In the classroom there were about 10 students all of the students had variety of special needs. There wasn’t a subject specifically being taught but Mr. Jerry was working with his student on his verbal and communication skills. My overall perception and feelings is that these kids need more help than just an aid or a teacher. They also needed
I completed my observation hours at a local middle school. I shadowed the math inclusion teacher for the sixth through eighth grade. I was able to observe three different classrooms and many different forms of instruction. Observing these three different classrooms gave me an insight to what a successful classroom management plan should be. The overall atmosphere of the class begins with the teacher’s attitude and how they approach learning. An effective classroom should be organized, efficient, and valuable class time should not be wasted.
So the girls in my group got together at my house while we created the powerpoint to show the 2nd graders. I put a lot of work into the slides however, I could not make it to do the first presentation. The only time some group members could go was during plc time. During that time I have to attend online class on every monday. But from the looks of things and pictures it seems as all the kids loved it and learned a lot from the presentation. The last thing that went very well is after my group members left the oak grove school the kids wrote very unique letters explaining what they learned. In the powerpoint created to present to our own class was also information that myself as well as others participated in. We separated the components needed in that presentation to make the work equal and fair giving me have of the research part. I researched the worldwide effects of mental disorders as well as presented
The topic I picked for our community project was traffic lights. In a community, people need stop signs and traffic lights to slow down drivers from going to fast. If there were no traffic lights or stop signs, people’s lives would be in danger from divers going too fast.
