Twist of Fate A twist of fate is an ironic situation that creates an unexpected outcome that affects each protagonist of the story.All of the protagonists in the short stories are affected by a twist of fate. The story “ A Man Who Had No Eyes” is based on a beggar and a wealthy man who survived the same tragic incident many years back and lost their vision. “Borders”is based on a native mother and son who face challenges trying to cross the Canadian and American borders. However he falls overboard into the water and gets stranded on a very dangerous island known as ship-trap island. Rainsford finds a palatial chateau Inhabited by another hunter named General Zaroff. Zaroff recognizes Rainsford from his notorious hunting and invites him in and offers to give him a hand until Rainsford gets back on his feet. The two conversate and Zaroff tells rainsford that he moved to Ship-Trap island because he was bored from hunting animals.He has a new hobby of hunting shipwrecked sailors and he explains the rules to him. Zaroff has no intentions on hunting Rainsford , he wanted to hunt with Rainsford. Rainsford was appalled by the generals psychotic hobby and insisted he must be let out of the chateau immediately . However Rainsford only way out now was to survive in Zaroff's hunting field for three days and survive all the obstacles through his way. Later during the hunt Rainsford makes a disappearance and the general goes back to the chateau and unexpectedly finds Rainsford in his room. Surprised ,Zaroff congratulates Rainsford on making it out alive although rainsford wants to fight him, Rainsford pushes the general off of his balcony and into the hunting field where the hounds were. Rainsford's character changes drastically, he was sickened by the general's actions yet two days later he had become a new version of
