What is love? If you were to ask anyone from a young person to a senior citizen, you would probably get a cliché answer that love is a strong feeling of affection. We “fall in love,” or two people meet and it’s “love at first sight.” This definition by no means is wrong. However, it does leave out a substantial piece of information. By reading the Bible, we can gather that love is not just a strong feeling of affection but it is God. God is love. God is the source of all love and the sole reason it exists. Our definition of love is often misdirected. Its object tends to become the creation not the Creator. We focus on self, excluding God and others. We have the perfect mentor that shows us love everyday. Through this new understanding of love, we can better understand the lyrics and meaning to the song “Your Love Never fails.”
One of the themes that stands out in this song is the various challenges we face on a day to day basis. In our lives, we are each faced with numerous challenges and trials. The Newsboys

It allows the phrase to stand out and get imbedded in the listener’s mind. The repetition of the phrases “Your love never fails” and “You make all things work together for my good” causes readers to remember not only the words of these phrases, but the purpose and goal of the lyrics. Through these lyrics we learn that God’s love will never fail us. These two phrases give us a good foundation for the main point in this song. The phrase “Your love never fails” is also the title of the song bringing even more attention to this line. The line “You make all things work together for my good” is unique because it reassures the audience that God does all that He does for our good. On this sinful world our intentions for doing good tend to be bad. We ask ourselves, how will this make me look better? Or is someone watching the good dead I’m doing? God’s intentions are all pure, He does good for our
There are a couple of diverse conflicting emotions that convey change throughout the song. It mainly focuses on relief after accepting God. In the song, the author expresses, “ Every heartache and failure, every broken dream; You're the God who sees, the God who rescued
The song was written to motivate young men to join the army, idealizing soldiers as patriotic “son[s] of liberty” who would make their fathers, girlfriends, and country proud. The US soldiers are shown as the liberators of
“We Found Love” is a popular song produced by Calvin Harris and features singer Rihanna. “We Found Love” reached the number one spot in the top charts in multiple countries in 2012 and the music video became popular very quickly after being filmed in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The music video features a young couple living in an impoverished council estate in West Belfast. Both characters portrayed in the music video are in their twenties and of mixed race, one parent being black and the other being Caucasian. Their relationship is distinguished by domestic violence as the couple is seen yelling, pushing and hurting one another, along with stealing from convenience stores, gambling and abusing drugs and alcohol together.
Sylvia Plath’s “Mad Girl’s Love Song” (1951), shows how the speaker was very drastically and negatively affected by the end of a relationship. The poem tells the thoughts of the heartbroken speaker and how the speaker is trying to create a type of comfort by coming up with different ways to try to feel better while possibly being mentally unstable and ill. This poem is written with great passion and deals with the darkness and sadness produced by heartbreak which then broadens to the subjects of fantasy, reality, and suicide. These subjects are demonstrated throughout the poem with the poet’s use of repetition, word choice, figurative language, and theme.
“Fight Song” by Rachel Platten addresses the topic of determination. Throughout the song she talks about rough times and the voices in her head but how she is never going to give up on life and her determination to make it better and to keep fighting. “Fight song” carries a theme of determination for everyone. With the lines “ This is my fight song”(Platten 11) The theme is first introduced because she is talking about how she is fighting from the beginning. By saying “Like a small boat in the ocean”(Platten 1) she reveals a simile, she is showing that even if it is a small boat it doesn’t mean that it can’t take on the ocean. The theme is developed more when she says “Prove I’m alright song” this fits the theme because she is determined
What is love? The age-old question arises once more. In truth, a universal definition has not been agreed upon, but generally one can define love as “an indication of adoration” or an “an ineffable feeling of intense attraction shared in interpersonal and sexual relationships.” Love can be directed towards kin, a lover, oneself, nature, or humanity- but regardless that love in an emotional sense is eternal. Some fall into love, and some claim they fall out. Love should be endless, lasting, and pure, but half of the time that love ends up being a sham. There is solid record of this false love- love that is meant to look pure- in the famous writings The Lottery and To His Coy Mistress.
The song that I choose to do this assignment on is Fight the Power by Public Enemy. Fight the Power was written in 1989 and quickly became a street anthem for millions of youths. It reflects with issues dealing with both the Civil Rights Movement and to remind everyone that they too have Constitutional Rights. This particular song is about empowerment but also fighting the abuse of power that is given to the law enforcement agencies. It gave citizens of the U.S a more modern outlook on the many struggles that not only the African American community is up against but the other minority groups as well. The song’s message was eventually supposed to bring people together and make the world a better place, even though some teens saw it as a way
Love is said to be one of the most desired things in life. People long for it, search for it, and crave it. It can come in the form of partners, friends, or just simply family. To some, love is something of a necessity in life, where some would rather turn a cold shoulder to it. Love can be the mixture of passion, need, lust, loyalty, and blood. Love can be extraordinary and breathtaking. Love being held so high can also be dangerous. Love can drive people to numerous mad things with it dangerously so full of craze and passion.
Love is arguably the most powerful emotion possessed by mankind; it is the impalpable bond that allows individuals to connect and understand one another. Pure love is directly related to divinity. Without love, happiness and prosperity become unreachable goals. An individual that possesses all the desired superficial objects in the world stands alone without the presence of love. For centuries love has been marveled by all that dare encounter it. Countless books and poems have been transcribed to explain the phenomenon of love, but love surpasses all intellectual explanations and discussions. Love is not a definition, but rather a thought, an idea. This idea, the idea of love, burns inside us all. Instinctually, every soul on Earth is
This song is an excellent example of the empowerment women and men may need occasionally. When someone is faced with a painful situation, people basically show two kinds of reaction: giving up or struggling. Those who decide to give up will usually keep complaining and blaming others for the situation they face. In contrast, those who decide to struggle, even though initially show almost the same reactions as the first group of people, they will finally choose to look at the good side of the situation they face. The process of being down, looking for the positives, and avoiding negative thoughts or feelings may be difficult but could ultimately result in the greatest gift of all, happiness.
The Definition of Love Love by definition is an emotion explored in philosophy, religion, and literature, often as either romantic love, the fraternal love of others, or the love of God based on the definition found in The Encarta Encyclopedia. As I explored the definitions through the Internet, books, and articles, I noticed the definitions changed quite a bit, but yet had the same basic understanding. The definition I found in The Encarta Encyclopedia is probably the most simple and most basic. It refers to love in the whole aspect, which is Godly, fraternal, and romantic. All of which can only be defined by one word and that is love.
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” These scriptures clearly point out God’s love. In George W. Peters book A Biblical Theology of Missions says this about God’s love, “Divine love is that impelling and dynamic quality in which God moves out of Himself and in which He relates Himself in all His beneficence and sufficiency to His creation. His love motivates Him eternally to communicate and to impart Himself to the object of His relationship” (59 & 60). Peters notes, love is: outgoing dynamic relationship (Romans 5:8), sacrificial active relationship (John 3:16), comprehensive relationship (John 3:17), and finally love is manifold relationship; which he says manifolds according to the character, conditions and needs of its object” (60). God is love. Also God is relational; Peter says on page 57, “God is a God of relationships”; the book of Ezekiel 37:27 says, “My dwelling place will be with them; I will be their God, and they will be my people” and Jeremiah 32:38 says, “ They will be my people, and I will be their God.” From these scriptures it is clearly known that God the Father desires intimate relationship with His people. The
These three things are important traits. In 8th grade, we had to face challenges, but we also had to learn how to overcome them. I’m going to share how the song relates to what we went through. “Sometimes in our lives we all have pain.
There is a powerful feeling in the world that can change a person's way of life and thinking as well as the culture of society. This feeling is love and it is part of what makes life worth living and in the end livable. People tend to find the feeling of love to be either beautiful, painful, or disdainful, but for the most part unexplainable. Meanwhile, some might say that it is just a chemical reaction in the brain that happens to increase the chances of reproduction. Ultimately, love comes in many different forms and each form gives its own meaning to love and worth to human life.
What is love? Love is a very special and meaningful word to each human being. Each human being has his/her own thoughts about love to guide himself/herself to land safely and smoothly into the kingdom of Love. Without this preconceived idea of love, people would be acting like a blind person searching for the light with thousand of obstacles in front of him.
