INRODUCTION Confessions (original title as “Kokuhaku”) is a 2010 Japanese psychological thriller movie. The film was directed by Tetsuya Nakashima and was based on Japanese author Minato Kanae’s novel in the same title that won 2009 Japanese Booksellers Awards. The film had been celebrating its success commercially and received positive reviews from critics globally. Confessions also won Best Picture at the 34th Japan Academy Prize and was shortlisted at the 83rd academy awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The film begin with the confession of Yuko Moriguchi. She was announcing her departure as a junior high school teacher to her students in class. The first character to tell the aftermath is the class representative, Mizuki Kitahara who witnessed how students in the class tried to escape the truth that Yuko had revealed before her leave from the school. Mizuki had a secret deep down, she had been thinking about commiting suicide. She got close with Shuya, one of the murderers as they both got bullied by the class together. A fine young man, Yoshiteru Terada came as new class teacher after Yuko’s resignation. Yoshiteru has passions in being a teacher but he knows nothing and was innocent enough to be used by Yuko. Naoki, who had been revealed as one of Yuko’s daughter murderers, had been absent to school. Yoshiteru often went off with Mizuki as class representative to Naoki’s house to get him back school every day. However, in the end of the film, it was revealed that Yoshiteru actually had been used by Yuko. So when she learned what her 13 years old son had done, she refused to believe it. She blamed Yuko for being irresponsible to students. The third perspective was Naoki himself. Naoki was seeking to be recognize as he failed to achieve in sport club and do not have any friends. Thus, when Shuya, who had bad intention approached him, he was too overwhelmed and failed to realise that he was doing the wrong thing. Naoki went unstable in mental after believing that he had drank the milk that mixed with HIV virus. He prisoned himself in his room, refused to let his mother to approach him. When his behaviour got in more serious situation, his mother think of a way to put an end to his son misery. She tried to kill her son and herself, however her action went off wrong.
