During the second World War, Kaiser Child Care centers opened from 1943 to 1945 serving women engaged in the war effort and their young children. These centers were opened for 24 hours all year long which allowed women to go to their jobs while keeping their children in a safe place that met with their requirements. Today this perspective is still applied in childcare centers and have sparked the idea that children should feel safe and be safe when being in any type of child care center where the parent or guardian is not present due to the need of them going to work. Teachers in Kaiser Child Care Centers were to be trained in order to provide quality care and education. This idea was also implied by Friedrich Wilhelm Froebel, in his statement
The quality of child care in the United States leaves room for improvement. According to (Deborah, L., Vandell, & Barbara, W.), suggest that when low-income families received child care, mothers are more likely to keep doctor’s appointments and decrease their stress level. The cost of child care is having a huge impact on the careers of working parents and people with disabilities. According to the case study of Katy Adams is one that conveys the message of different facets of stress and, how it impacts a person’s health and well been.
Childcare organisations adopted the Balanced Scorecard as a tool to improve childcare quality. The Balanced Scorecard ensures the non-profit organizations to decrease gap between vague mission and strategy statements during daily operational activities.
The Shriners Hospitals for Children is a nonprofit group and depend on the charity of supporters of Shriners and the overall community to complete the assignment and advance the lives of children daily. Its area of interest is to better the lives of kids living with orthopedic conditions, burns, congenital, spinal cord injuries, cleft lip, palate, and other special healthcare needs within a compassionate, family-centered setting, in spite of the patients’ ability to pay.
The Child Development Center of College of San Mateo provides early care and educational programs for children between the ages of 3 to 5 years old. Children are divided into classrooms with a “master” teacher, a “regular” teacher, and two or three “associate” teachers. Klara attended Classroom, “A,” a stimulating and well-resourced classroom. Klara was observed for two hours on Monday from 9 am to 11 am and for two hours on Wednesday from 9 am to 11 am. During these two hours, classroom activities consisted of “free time,” “story time,” and an outside “play time.” A “master” teacher, a “regular” teacher, and two “associate” teachers were present during observations. Additionally, a total of eighteen children were in attendance during the observed days.
Childcare is a necessity for a large number of working families and single parents. Fortunately, there are many options available to meet both the needs of the family and their budget. Each option comes with advantages and disadvantages. We will provide some basic information regarding each type, as well as some guidelines in regards to estimated cost.
There is a problem in Texas impacting children’s futures; many childcare centers and homes are not providing children with quality care. In an article about cost and quality in Texas childcare, child development experts Susan Eitel and Joyce Nuner quote a study stating “that [nationally] only 10% of infants and toddlers are in high quality [childcare] programs” (34). The term ratio describes the number of children one caregiver is watching. This number is one of the major factors in the quality of a childcare program. Organizations such as the National Association for the Education of Young Children know as NAEYC release recommendations regarding ratios and accredit programs based on their compliance. Childcare centers and homes must comply with certain minimum standards enforced by Texas regarding ratios; however, these standards often set the bar lower than recommendations made by these early childhood experts. The current standards in Texas do not ensure that all young children receive quality care; for this reason, the Texas Department of Family Protective Services should strengthen the minimum standards regarding ratios to better regulate the quality of care children receive.
North Florida has several community organizations that provides a health promoting community service. The community organization I have chosen to discuss is Wolfson Children’s Hospital. I will be discussing the following four topics concerning Wolfson Children’s Hospital; what type of services are offered, what is the cost to the client or family (if any), how is the agency funded and why is the organization important to the community?

Children who participate in quality early learning programs tend to be more successful later in school. They are also most socially and emotionally competent. In addition those children show higher verbal and intellectual development during early childhood than children who do not participate in early learning programs (A Parent’s Guide to Choosing Quality Child Care). In order for a child care center to be a quality center they must have an educated staff, a program accreditation, and good health and safety practices. Parents choose high quality child care for many reasons. These programs prepare children for school in which they gain intellectual and social skills. Also the programs are a good opportunity for children because they receive age-appropriate learning materials and activities to let the children learn and grow.
Having a safe and healthy childcare setting is one of the most important duties in a daycare. Educators practising good healthy procedures is a good way for children to learn about healthy choices as educators are, good role models.
Florence Nightingale emphasized the children’s nursing care needs in 1859. She wrote a book Notes on Nursing. A quote from her famous book is “The nursing of young children stands out as a division of our work needing special study. We have no branch that is more important.... Let us be willing to do anything which will accomplish the greatest good for the child, and honor our profession by becoming more and more efficient in our ability to care for sick children" (p 115). The first pediatric clinic opened in New York City in 1862. Originally these clinics focused on developing treatments for childhood diseases, such as measles and scarlet fever. Now the main purposes are check ups and doctor appointments Loretta Ford and Henry Sliver opened the first nurse practitioner training program in 1965. In training, the students studied 12 hours a day, 6 days a week for 1 to 2 years. After graduating from school, some students worked in hospitals, but most looked for private jobs in middle and upper class homes. The pay was poor and the hours were irregular.
It’s been noted that recent studies specify that “more than half of all 3-5-year-old children in the United States attend child-care centers prior to kindergarten” and “Given these high usage rates, the quality of these early child-care experiences has become an important public policy issue” (Peisner-Feinberg 2001). It is believed that part of the issue is a result of parents not knowing what the primary purpose of daycare/child care facilities are and what high quality daycares consist of in considering a their child should attend.
Each and every daycare has their own menu for the children’s breakfast and lunch. Through my observations, I have noticed that the “Don’t Worry Childcare” has a variety of food selections throughout the month. For example, the children could either choose from fruit loops cereal, or frosted flakes for breakfast. The children’s snacks eaten varies every day as well. For instance, the children ate milk and cookies one day, and cheese crackers another day. An example of lunch would be, milk, chicken fingers, French fries, green beans, and mixed fruit one day, and spaghetti, corn, peaches, and bread another day. I observed the children eat ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, and peaches one day for lunch. All those food options seemed very delicious.
