This week in class we have been making a collage on ourselves. I chose this background on the collage because who doesn’t like the American Flag. The very main picture on the project is the picture of me. It was the only picture of me that we had that we could print. Two of the cultural pictures are a picture of crawfish and Jazz because of my Cajun heritage. Another picture is the Bald Eagle with the American Flag under its wings. The reason for that picture is because I’m very patriotic and I would do anything for America. Next, the Indian picture comes from my ancestors who were Indians back in the day. The last of the cultural pictures is the cross and I have the cross because I’ve grown up in a christian environment and am a christian.
Free speech and the First Amendment rights do not give people lisence to desecrate a symbol of pride and freedom. It is not all right to protect those who let it burn, lighting up the sky with their hatred. It definitely is not acceptable to insult the men and women who fight every day to protect this nation by burning the symbol of their labors. Therefore, it is crucial that the Supreme Court pass the amendment to the Constitution to protect the flag of the US.
In all sports, teams use mascots to represent their team’s pride, strength, and will to win. The role the mascot plays is an intimidation factor, as well as something to motivate the team. Teams will have mascots that range from anything, from an animal to an inanimate object, like a hammer or an orange. Mascots rarely fall under scrutiny, except for the mascots that represent Native American tribes, people or cultures. Many schools and teams use some sort of Native American reference as a mascot. The Native American mascots used range from names like the Indians, Chiefs, and Braves, which are some of the more generic ones, to Seminoles, Fighting Illini, and Chippewas to name some of the tribal based names.
A flag symbolizes one’s country; The Canadian flag separates us as a country, but still unites us as a diverse nation. It is the way we lift up and cheer on our favourite sport team, to wearing the flag on our backpacks worldwide (Levine, 2014). Ever since it has been signed off, there hasn’t been a debate in over 50 years to evaluate change or reform the configuration of the Canadian flag.
The noose, Klan hood, and the Native American headdress represent how America mistreats other people. The noose and the Klan hood show that America is a place that discriminates against black people in its own society. Even though the Nazi party murdered millions of people in cold blood, they still saw our racism as a point they could use to persuade their citizens that we are evil. The Native American headdress has the same metaphor but for the Native American people. Our ancestors killing the Native Americans is another example of how we are malicious. It is saying “Look what they did to the blacks and Native Americans, they will invade us and will treat our people the same way!”. The American flag is a fascinating part of this poster. The
First I would like to include some information about our american flag and how it came about. In the British colonies of North America before the Revolution, each of the 13 colonies had its flag. On Jan. 2, 1776, the first flag of the United States was raised at Cambridge, Mass., by George Washington. Known as the Grand Union flag, it consisted of 13 stripes, alternate red and white, with a blue canton bearing the crosses of St. George and St. Andrew. Congress, on June 14, 1777, enacted a resolution “that the Flag of the United States be 13 stripes alternate red and white, that the Union be 13 stars white in a blue field representing a new constellation.” On Jan. 13, 1794, Vermont and Kentucky having been admitted to the Union, Congress added a stripe and a star for each state. Congress in 1818 enacted that the 13 stripes, denoting the 13 original colonies, be restored and a star added to the blue canton for each state after its admission to the Union. All of the states and territories of the United States also have their own flags. Betsy Ross created the first flag. Betsy would often tell her children, grandchildren, relatives, and friends of the fateful day when three members of a secret committee from the Continental Congress came to call upon her. Those representatives, George Washington, Robert Morris, and George Ross, asked her to sew the first flag. This meeting occurred in her home some time late in May 1776. George Washington was then the head of the Continen...
For instance, the penny is a large part of American culture. The penny has captured many of America’s greatest moments. “...pennies had different images of Lady Liberty on the front… produced two varieties of the Flying Eagle penny… Lincoln penny began production in 1909... ten varieties have been minted (Shelton 2, 3, 4).” This quote shows scenes of America’s greatest moments or accomplishments. Furthermore, the penny has images which display how the country has developed and grown into what it is today.
Art is something that appears separately to everyone; there are no clearly defined right or wrong answer with it. American Icons is a beautiful oil painting that is a high work of art, has a lot of symbolism, and has many techniques to enhance the piece. Art can be analyzed much more than most people come to understand, but looking to, and actually, understanding it is one of the most satisfying feelings
Everyone must be willing to accept other people or their opinions that are different from theirs. After viewing the texts “Texas vs Johnson”by William Brennan “American Flag Stands For Tolerance” by Ronald J.Allen and also viewed a trailer called “My So Called Enemy”. They revealed how different people should be accepted. People should be accepted for who they are and for what they believed.
In the bottom left section of my shield there is a picture of myself. This corner shows my allegiance but I was not too sure who I should put so I drew a picture
There are frequent appearances of conflicts in the incident of Michigan police in Traverse City. The major and most obvious conflict is the incompatibility or opposition between parties over the presence of the confederate flag. The cause of this intergroup conflict can be ambiguity of jurisdictions and symbols as well as the absence of conflict-management strategies as there is no precise and accepted way of what the confederate flag really represents. According to the conflict intensity continuum, which is a model that measures the intensity level of a conflict, the debate over confederate flag is in the middle lies between “no conflict” and “annihilatory conflict” where there are assertive verbal attacks but not overt efforts to destroy
The American flag is a symbol of freedom, liberty and all human rights. A symbol men rally behind, whether on our shores or foreign shores. People hold the flag as something sacred, others have a moderate reverence for it. The color of the pales are those used in a flag of the United States of America. White signifies purity and innocence, Red, hardiness and valour, and Blue, the color, perseverance & justice.
As Independence Day approaches, you are likely to see more and more American flags. Another reason why my cultural identity is unique is because of our multiple race. My family is not just one race, we have multiple races in our blood. That’s cool to have because I ok: Have you ever questioned someone about their cultural identity but never thought about what your cultural identity was?My cultural identity is unique and is and is not
The Flag is an object matters to me becomes represents something. When I look at the Flag I see my aunt and the people who went to war for us. Some people may not believe that the flag is the beast they may believe that glasses are better but I think that The U.S.A. Flag is because it represents a symbol of bravery and peace, and it has a song to prove that it is all of those things. In my opinion, I think that The U.S.A Flag has the greatest impact on society.
