Now a day people in America have different looking about required to stand and say the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag. Elementary School Children across the country should had been required to stand and say the pledge of Allegiance to the American flag every school-day morning. “Patriotism involve respect for the country being willing to serve and die for the country” ( should student be forced”) and displaying celebrations of the country. First, everyone should respect the country we live in. Our country gives us rights and helps execute basic rights. It allows us to find a job, a home. Our country provides for us protection and a safe place to live. Our country gives us a passport which is to provide …show more content…
identity. If a personal does not have passport, he can’t travels outside borders, the other country does not know where he come from, us country provides personal identity that helps us. travel where ever we want by freedoms. Many peoples couldn’t get this chance to lived freedom place. Second, people show respect by fighting for their country. Many soldiers fight for our freedoms, protections and power.
I see many soldiers fighting in Middle East countries and some other countries to protect our country and our lives. so we should respect the flag and the person who is dying to our place. It is a sign of respect to those who fight for our country. Soldiers fight to get power to our country power. Without them this country is not safe. Soldiers risk their own lives to keep Americans happy and safe. The third one is “prides and loyalty to our country” (should student be forced”) . In fact, patriotism and loyalty to one’s country can be displayed in two major ways. One way is to show externally, such as standing up respectfully when the National Anthem is played. It can also be reflected via National service. Another way of showing one’s patriotism and loyalty is by putting the nation’s interests, including national security, before self. For example, when Singapore was hit by Sars virus, many doctors and nurses risked their lives to care for the infected patients. Looking further back, we also have World War II heroes, who sacrificed their lives during the war. Independence Day (July 4) is the biggest celebration in our country because, U.S is a
federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of independence 240 years ago. Many people celebrate this holiday together outside. They decorate by U.S flags and many fireworks and all them sing together U.S anthems. Patriotism in America can be showed in different ways. Patriotism involves giving show respect for the country, being willing to serve and die for the country and displaying personal celebrations of the country. The freedom of Americans are even more special and important to be because I am originally from Ethiopia.
An appeal to patriotism is one in which emotions are used to show loyalty towards something. To engage patriotism in the audience, one should point out to the audience the opponent’s success. This helps the audience to feel like they are a part of something important. Patriotism should not be tied to idealism. Ideas are not a part of emotional appeal, rather a part of logical appeal. Patriotism is associated with pathos as idealism is associated with logos.
In John McCain’s essay “Veterans Day: Never forget their duty” he talks about his friend ,Mike, who was in the same prison camp as he was in and showed the pride that he and his fellow prisoners had for their flag. The American Flag is the most iconic symbol of America and to express pride for The American Flag is to show pride in America itself. On page 7 paragraph 8 “Every afternoon, before we had a bowl of soup, we would hang MIke’s shirt on the wall of our cell and say the Pledge of Allegiance. I know that saying the Pledge of Allegiance may not seem the most important or meaningful part of our day now, but I can assure you that for those men in that stark prison cell, it was, indeed, the most important and meaningful event of our day”. John McCain shares with us that the most important part of their day was to say the Pledge of Allegiance.
Our veterans helped make our country the best country, which is known for fact.Today, because of our veterans I’m proud to say that every citizen has the right to speak and share their voice no matter what their race is. In some countries, there are still racial conflicts and all races.I am also proud to say that every child in America,no matter what their race is, they can have a free education. Most children in other countries are not allowed to go to school because they can’t afford it instead, they go to work
... and in doing so represent their country even more. Trying to be patriotic becomes hard for Brinker when his father wants him not to embarrass himself and do more for the country because Brinker feels that his father doesn?t understand that he is afraid to go to war. Brinker says", He and his crowd are responsible for it and we're going to fight it " (190). This quote shows how agitated Brinker is with his father for trying to tell him to accomplish more in a dangerous war, that Brinker wants nothing to do with, that can possibly lead to his own death. To sum up, patriotism is a necessity in going to war and representing the country because it shows feelings from the fighter to his or her country.
For example, Mark Twain expressed his hatred by stating, “A patriot sets himself apart in his own country under his own flag, sneers at other nations and keeps an army of uniformed assassins on hand at heavy expense to grab slices of other people’s countries and keep them from grabbing slices of his. In the intervals between campaigns he washes the blood off his hands and works for ‘the universal brotherhood of man’ with his mouth.” Twain makes many valid points by bring up how patriotism encourages hatred and distrust for other countries, promoting war by having an army of assassins, and washing away wrongful violations within the country. Numerous Americans have shown similar controversy in regards to whether they should support patriotism. Despite the fact that patriotism can bring social culture and bonding together, it can ultimately become destructive and does more harm than
I’ve lol been standing for the pledge of allegiance since I was in elementary and never really understood why. Freedom of speech, you say what you want, when you want, and how you want to. It’s your right to stand up or not. “People die for our country.” “Sign of respect for the country we live in.” “Take pride in being an American.” How can we be proud to be American if it only brings negative stereotypes to everyone’s head, it has never been what it preaches to be. Being American is actually embarrassing. Just because I was born here doesn 't mean I have undying loyalty to America, being American means nothing to me, to be truthful.
There have been the fights for our freedom and fights against each other. Through all of the battles, the American flag stood strong and proud. There have been many sacrificed deaths for our freedom. The flag stands for every person that ever gave up their life for the good of our country. The people that were at the front line standing proud for our nation are the real heros. That is what the flag really stands for. The everyday citizens that continue to fight while we continue our normal lives. Many people may not think of the American flag as much but it stands for so much more than just what our eyes can
The Star Spangled Banner is a sacred song in the United States of America. It not only is a symbol of the fight that soldiers have had to go through, but also a representation of freedom. When the National Anthem plays out of respect for our country, and those who fought for it, everyone is supposed to stand and remove their hats. Currently in the National Football League (NFL) there is a handful of players, mainly African Americans, that have been taking a knee or raising a fist during the play of our National Anthem. This I believe, is a great sign of disrespect for our country and our veterans. This I believe, is very immature and unnecessary. This I believe, should be put to a stop by the NFL and the players should be ashamed of himself for doing this. I am aware that the players have the right to do this, but there are many reasons why this should not be taking place.
What is the value of nationality? And how important is a flag to that nationality? For some people the flag is extremely valuable to nationality and unity, for that reason many people have opposed flag desecration in recent history. Flag desecration is when a person or group of persons mistreat or burn a flag for various reasons. The most frequent being in protest of the government and their political or foreign decisions.
First, I would like to talk about the history of the Pledge of Allegiance. Many people today recite the Pledge of Allegiance but do not know the history that took place behind it. The Pledge of Allegiance was originally written more than a century ago. The original pledge was: I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic, for which it stands, one Nation, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all . The flag serves as a symbol of our country and its proud traditions of freedom and equal opportunity. In the 1920s, the National Flag Conferences replaced the phrase “my Flag” with “the Flag of the United States of America.” In 1954, Communist threats occurred causing Congress to add the words under God to the pledge. Then 12 years later, Congress reviewed the Pledge of Allegiance and added the words “Under God .” While reciting the Pledge of Allegiance it should be recited by standing placing your
The exploration of what patriotism is and what represents patriotism is an important one more people should embark upon. If Americans are to examine patriotisms true meaning, we will be able to abolish this faux patriotism, which is represented by intimidation, censorship, and majority rules attitudes or actions. This can be replaced by feelings and actions of caring, compassion, acceptance, rationality, and nonviolence, or in other words, patriotism.
The most patriotic thing we can do is vote. (2013, April 18). YouTube. Retrieved May 11, 2014, from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjUCihqMklw
To begin with, Americans show their pride in their country by loyally defending her at all costs. America’s turf is one thing that at all costs others avoid. If someone hurts an American, be assured the patriots will commit in full-force to do whatever is necessary to bring about justice. For example, when the pirates tried to seize a U.S. ship and
Throughout the history of the United States, This country has welcomed people from all over the world. The contributions of foreigners has helped shape and define the country we know today. In order for America to remain a free and prosperous nation they must make sure that their rights and responsibilities are to be exercised and respected. The right to pursue life, liberty, and happiness. To respect the rights, beliefs, as well as opinions of others. Also the freedom to express oneself. Though all are important these are just a few that they should be aware of in order to help preserve their democratic government.
One way to define patriotism is to look at an example of my enlistment in the Army and the training that I received in Basic. I decided to join the Army in 1996 after an unsuccessful attempt at college. I decided I wanted to serve my country by defending our freedom in the event that a war should happen and help other countries abroad defend their freedom also. It was in Basic Training that I was taught hand-to-hand combat, how to accurately fire a M16 machine gun, ground tactics and camouflage. The training I received prepared me to be ready to defend America. I was committed to serve and protect the country where I lived. I was displaying my patriotism for America by defending the freedoms that I and other Americans have in this country.
