An Event That Influenced Me
Working at Walgreens has been my career since graduating high school. I was influenced positively by a negative comment that was said to me when I applied for a store manager position. I refused to let it bring me down; so instead I applied to college. I am now pursuing my dream in becoming a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
When I was in highschool, I was in the health magnet program. This is how I landed my job at Walgreens; I did an intership in the pharmacy for my senior project on prescriptions at the Walgreens on Southern & Crestwood. During the time of my internship, the store manager asked me to apply for a job there. I was immediately hired right after high school; I started as a cashier. The manager

I was again transferred to another Walgreens on Belvedere and Military Trail. I was told by the district manager at the time that I need to get my pharmacy certification in order to move to the next level which is Store Manager. So I was transferred to the Walgreens on Southern & Dixie, which is where I put in all my pharmacy hours and got my pharmacy registration. Afterwards I was transferred to the Walgreens on Greenview shores. I studied really hard and got my Pharmacy Technian Board Certification. I was so excited because I was told that was all I needed to move up. A degree was not a requirement, all my soon 12 years with Walgreens I was always told that you did not need a college degree. The district managers changed, so now it was a new gentleman that really did not know much about me. I was then transferred to the Walgreens on Okeechobee & 441 then I was transferred back to the Walgreens where I originally started at, on Southern & Crestwood which is a 24 hour store. I was told that running a 24 hour store was the test before being promoted. While working there, an opening came up for Store Manager at the Walgreens on Southern and Dixie which I had previously worked at so I knew the store and I knew the people. I was so excited and put in for the opening, I could literally jump up and down from the joy. The district manager set up a meeting to talk to me. During our meeting, I
Since I have been worked in Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland, I was not surprised with the work load and the hospital setting at Millcreek Community Hospital (MCH). With a goal of enrichment my knowledge in a hospital pharmacy setting, I am enthusiastic in accomplishing the assigned duties. I have very high expectation during these four weeks of IPPE rotation; I expect to learn beyond what I already know in the past and apply what I learn during the past year in to pharmacy practice. Arriving at Millcreek Community Hospital, I was not surprised the pharmacy's setting in hospital but I'm surprised the different types of work I received. At Veteran Affairs Medical Center, all I ever did are filling the prescriptions, stocking, and managed automated machines but at MCH,
Walgreens is a very well known name when it comes to drugstores. However, most people don’t know how big “big” is. In this case it is 7,015 stores nationwide. On average, each store has 30 employees on staff. This means that the company has 211,000 employees working for them. This type of responsibility calls for an HR department. In this company however it is done a little differently. When it comes to hiring staff for a store, it is solely up to the store manager. The HR department functions as a reference source for the store managers only (typically in cases of discipline). This is a great undertaking for a store manager when they are first promoted. As a store manager, you are faced with ever...
According to Kasie, the most difficult part about her job was learning her way around the hospital and remembering where every med room was located. This is Kasie’s first hospital pharmacy tech job, she loves it! Her inspiration was that she has always been fascinated with medications and how they work, she is also amazed by the human body and science. She is a certified technician, because, where she is working she is required to be certified as well as registered, and it looks better on a resumé. She works at Baptist Health Jacksonville in Jacksonville,
However, I ended up getting hired at the Walmart distribution center, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Although we still have to live paycheck to paycheck, we can now manage to pay the bills and put food on the table without as much stress as before.
the great clothes shop. I've got a great job but it was a spot of luck
Since a young age, I always felt inclined towards pursuing a career in the health care field; daydreaming about myself working at a clinic or hospital and making a positive impact on someone’s life. When I started college, I decided to major in Biology and explored the different career options the health field had to offer me by shadowing dietitians, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare workers to find my ideal job.
The career I am currently pursuing is Dental Hygiene. I chose this career in senior year of high school. My algebra teacher inspired me to choose this career path. I always visited with her after class, because she was my favorite teacher and I learned a great deal from her. One day while visiting her, she spoke about her husband and her two dogs.
Everyone is unique, each person contributes each one of their own ideas into society. People go through experiences that make them decide what career they want to pursue. I went through a life changing experience that changed where I was heading in my life. Additionally, this first semester of college has increased my awareness of health issues and how bridging cultures is way to minimize mistakes in the health care field. In The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down includes mistakes that could have been prevented. The past experiences that I have been through, my values, and my heritage can improve the practice of health care delivery in America.
This influenced me to choose a career where I can help people feel important and to help them. I have chosen to pursue a career in science with my end goal being either a college professor teaching biological sciences or a geneticist. Being around such influential and caring teachers is what drove me to consider teaching but on a college
so I decided to optain a trade instead. I enrolled in a pharmacy technician program and after completing my training, I got my first job as a pharmacy technician. I never thought working at a pharmacy would be a dangerous choice. Sara was my new boss and owned the pharmacy with her husband. The clients at this pharmacy where mostly African Americans or Hispanics and many worked at the long beach port.
I interned a cardiologist where I got to see the life of a physician as he went about his daily routine. I achieved getting my Certified Nursing Assistant license after assisting patients at a nursing home. I became a camp counselor for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, where I took care of a 10-year-old child during a summer camp. Through these experiences, I gained confidence in my character and purposefulness. Furthermore, I went on a mission trip to Kenya where I experienced life in a third world country. It was here where my eyes were opened to see a world that is in dire need of help. These people are malnourished, living in detrimental conditions without accessible health care. The experiences I had in Kenya reminded me to never take anything for granted. My engagement acting on all these opportunities fueled my perseverance to pursue my career in health
I worked as a pharmacy extern at Walgreens for 2 months. I did not like the work environment because due to the very fast pace and the fact that most of the other techs and ,maybe even the pharmacist, didn’t like me very much(It didn’t help that I figured out the code to enter the door). I worked for CVS Caremark in their mail order pharmacy. The work was very repetitive and the hours were very long. What I had gained from these experiences is that I realized that this really was not the field for me at all.
Formal equality is known as the formal, legal equality. This is the equality that is seen as one law should be applied to all people, social and personal characteristics are no factor. Formal equality aims to distribute equality fairly and evenly, and aims to treat people the same. Formal equality does not ensure the wellbeing of individuals based on race, ethnicity, sex, age etc. Unfortunately, this side of equality does not recognize diversity and is insufficient for promoting social inclusiveness. Even though it may give the illusion of equality and justice, it is actually creating inequality and is actually ending up discriminating individuals (EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, 2004).
It was a clothing store for children. I enjoyed the job I had in the beginning; all I did was open up boxes and place the clothes in the racks so the store associates could hang them up on the store racks. I enjoyed the job because I did not have to deal with the customers that came into the store. In addition, when viewing what I value in the workplace, I realized that I find intellectual stimulation, security, and economic rewards to be the most important values.
During my senior year in high school, I started an internship at Walgreens Pharmacy in Brownsville, Texas. This was a unique opportunity for me to find out if I would like to have a career as a pharmacist. So far, not only have I learned about my interest in pharmacy, but I have also learned from Dr. Leonard, one of the pharmacists at Walgreens. Even though I have made many mistakes as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee, Dr. Leonard always motivated me to do better the next time and stay positive. He always has a smile when he is working and looks forward to helping others. As a result of his qualities, Dr. Leonard assists everyone work easier together because there are never arguments. If there is a misunderstanding, Dr. Leonard al...
