One of the many factors that pet owners look into is space. How much room will the dog, or cat have to play, sleep, and even eat? Many people think that, because they have a small dog, that they do not need a lot of room, yes, this maybe true, but they need to take the energy of the dog into consideration. Cats on the other hand can live in tight spaces, whether they have tons of energy or not. Both animals depending on the size and breed need the space that can accommodate for these aspects.
Not everyone is fond of cats, and this negative opinion has been expressed by many
After a while, it was such that if I was home, the cats would follow me where ever I went. Just like Stickeen who “was sure to be at his heels, provided I had not gone out.”(par. 7). Every time I drove into the driveway, regardless of where they would be, they would come running out to greet me. The minute I stepped out of the car, they would circle me brushing against my feet and look at me with excitement in their eyes. Then they would stand up on their hind limbs and ask for a petting on their

According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 7.6 million companion pets enter animal shelters across the United States each year, nearly evenly disrupted between dogs and cats . These animals are abandoned for reasons including families no longer being able to care for them (sickness/death of an owner), to families not wanting them (the novelty wearing of the animal wearing off), to the animals being born into puppy mills to finally animals that are loved being lost from their owners. These animals do not understand what is happening to them and rely on the kindness of humans to provide for them in shelters until their forever home can be found.

I have a love for cats. Ever since I was a teenager I always wished for a cat of my own. When I moved in a three story apartment in California, the Manager of the complex said that cats were allowed in the units. I mentioned to my Aunt at the time that I was searching in the newspapers under advertisements for cats wanted. One cool breezy evening, my Aunt called me and said that a friend of her's named Judy had a cat named Katie who did not get along with her other two cats. So I agreed to meet with Judy to see if I'd love to adopt Katie.

In my freshman year of high school, I was walking to school when I saw a little, ginger kitten yipping and narrowly dodging cars in the morning rush. When it reached the sidewalk I tried catching it, but it was so frightened it crawled away under a fence. Later that day, my friend Marietou asked the class, “Did anyone else see that kitten that got run over? It was alive this morning.” This is not an isolated incident. Extensive research has proven that outdoor cats will be run over by cars. According to a Canadian study published on lostpetresearch.com, one out of two outdoor cats will be run over by a car. The chances are even higher for younger cats. Moreover, according to the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), seventy-five percent of kittens do not make it to six months old. Whatever age your pet, you do not want them to become another statistic.
