The Amish community, Charlotte North Carolina, and the community in the novel “The Giver” are all places that have a successful society in which many people live or choose to live in. All of these communities have “pros” and “cons” that interest people or turn people away from living in the community. Despite the fact that many people think that living in an Amish community would not be something they were willing to do, there must be some pros of living there or no one would be living in an Amish community. In the Amish community, there is no violence (25 Things), you are very close to your family and there is a very strong religion that comes with being Amish (Conway, Tracy Lynn).The Amish people also never have to buy food or clothing for themselves or their families (Conway, Tracy Lynn).Even though this might seem intriguing there are many cons that come with being Amish and living in an Amish community. There are pros to being Amish, but there are also many cons, the Amish people live their lives very different than people in the twenty-first century do. The Amish people's education only goes up until eighth grade and then they get training from family members and they learn skills like farming and carpentry. (25 Things). The average commute time in the city is twenty-five minutes, depending on where you are and where you are going. Charlotte's crime rate on a scale from 1 to 100, 1 being the lowest, is a 54/100, the U.S. average is a 31.1/100 (Charlotte, North Carolina Crime). Most of these crimes include robberies in houses as well as cars in most cases the person who is getting robbed is not being threatened
