Americanization: Americanization is the process of creating a heterogeneous culture within the United States. The term changes in meaning to accommodate its purpose. It has been used in the past to describe the shift in the English language used in the United States in contrast to its use in England. Now it is associated to the assimilation of immigrants in America.

Globalization: Globalization is the exchange of resources, ideas, communication, technology and culture between nations all over the world. With globalization, the world has become a smaller place. Commodities have become more available throughout the world. One no longer has to travel to be exposed to other nations.

Transnationalism: Transnationalism is the idea that captures

the many identifies of people, communities, and businesses. They are not confined to one location, but have ties in multiple places. They are not defined by their association of just one nation.

Intercultural Knowledge and Competence: When someone has intercultural knowledge and competence they are able to see the bigger picture of culture. They are aware of their own background, but can also acknowledge the differences in others. They can synthesize this information and can see from may other perspectives.

International: International corresponds to the relationship between multiple countries. International transcends borders and involves many different nations.
