Tate Langdon was a main character in the first season of American Horror Story. Tate was a ghost residing in the murder house. He first appeared in the first episode as a patient of Dr. Ben Harmon's. Tate had other brother and sisters but he is the only one of which not burdened by some sort of mental or physical defect, although he was shown to be psychologically disturbed. This is due largely to his father's absence and his mother's neglect as a child. Tate reached his breaking point in 1994 when he set his mother's boyfriend, Larry Harvey, on fire for murdering his brother with a pillow and then afterwards committed a mass shooting at Westfield High, taking the lives of 15 students (Wikia). Following the shooting, Tate returned home where he was killed by a SWAT team and since then has resided in the murder house. Tate has a very grunge-like appearance. His personality is described as empty and depressed, shown by bags under his eyes, and a dark demeanor. There is tension between him and his mother, Constance. He has even admitted to her that he hates her. His hatred for his mothe...
Throughout the cinema Michael continues to harm and stalk Laurie at points throughout Halloween. Drawing a few lines to Carol Clover’s model Michael is the male tormentor throughout the film with Laurie trying to become the “final girl.” I believe without a doubt Halloween followed the exact model Carol Clover laid out. Clover was spot on with how she related Halloween to her novel. The focal point of Clover’s theory is how do females come out in “slasher” films and defeat there opposer and become victorious. Halloween demonstrates that with with Laure constantly escaping Michael’s threats and pulls off surviving Halloween night without any major harm to herself. At that point Laure then became the “final girl” by surviving Halloween while some of her friends didn’t. The film virtually replicated Clover’s theory and really showed a new perspective to film
Her father, William, and mother, Temperance (Tempie), parted ways shortly after her birth. Ella tried to contribute to her family occasionally, Ella took on small jobs to contribute money as well. Perhaps naïve to the circumstances, Ella worked as a runner for local gamblers, picking up their bets Later in Ella’s life Tempie died from serious injuries that she received in a car accident. Ella took the loss very hard. Unable to adjust to the new circumstances, Ella became increasingly unhappy and entered into a difficult period of her life. Her grades dropped dramatically, and she frequently skipped school. After getting into trouble with the police, she was taken into custody and sent to a reform
Meat head, dumb jock. These are just two of the many derogatory labels given to football players. Is it possible for me, a meat head, to hear the criticisms dealt to the sport of football? Is it possible for me, a dumb football jock, to understand and be objective about the issues raised in the book, Friday Night Lights? Yes, because I'm not the stereotypical football player like those described of Odessa, Texas.
Blood cannot be staged even when family values are. In Reality-TV family values, you can be the worst parent in the world but as long as you put family above all else. You can make yourself a martyr for your families happiness. Showing the world they too can have true happiness beyond all the money and recognition just by loving their family. The most important thing in life is family as long as it is like mine. The family unit and values must be put above everything else in life.
That 70’s show is about Eric Forman and his teenage friends and also is family members that live in Point Place Wisconsin through the time period of 1976-1979. The biggest surprise about the series is that despite it being only a three year time frame it managed to run for eight seasons that was seen on Fox from 1998 to 2006 which became the networks second longest running live action sitcom only trailing the show married with children. Despite the fact that the show wasn’t really based in the 70’s the production of the show did a good job to make it seem like they lived in the 70’s with cars, music etc… It’s kind of weird that the show was named “that 70’s show” when it didn’t officially take place during the 70’s.
The stigma and negative associations that go with mental illness have been around as long as mental illness itself has been recognized. As society has advanced, little changes have been made to the deep-rooted ideas that go along with psychological disorders. It is clearly seen throughout history that people with mental illness are discriminated against, cast out of society, and deemed “damaged”. They are unable to escape the stigma that goes along with their illness, and are often left to defend themselves in a world that is not accepting of differences in people. Society needs to realize what it is doing, and how it is affecting these people who are affected with mental illness. If we continue to not help them, and to foster their illness, it will only get worse.
High school athletics leave a major impact on everybody that is involved with them. It also can even leave a mark on people who aren’t associated with them. There are many conflicting opinions on whether high school sports are a positive or negative influence on a student’s life. Athletics in high school can have an effect on the community as a whole. In H.G. Bisssinger’s highly regarded Friday Night Lights, high school football is accurately portrayed as the most important thing in Texas; it receives much more attention than academics. Football players are often treated like celebrities; yielding confidence, and at the same time creating pressure.
In the novel Wuthering Heights, author Emily Brontë portrays the morally ambiguous character of Heathcliff through his neglected upbringing, cruel motives, and vengeful actions.
...e house from the intentional victim, Terry Melcher. That night, the four followers brutally murdered Tate, her unborn baby, and four others who were visiting her. The following night, they killed Leno and Rosemary LaBianca in their home.
The MTV series 16 And Pregnant and its follow up series titled Teen Mom is a documentary like series that first aired in 2009 on June 11 and since then has had many seasons and sequels to follow it. Each episode in the series focuses on several young girls for 5-7 moths while they have to deal with the struggle of teenage pregnancy and “life after labor”. The initial idea or the show was to promote teen pregnancy prevention but, with many of the girls behaving scandalously and recklessly during the series, the show has become one of the most controversial on MTV.
Norman Bates was able to show a public face, just as Emily did, even though he seemed strange. He was a victim, same as Emily, of a domineering parent. A further similarity between the two is the fascination with the dead. Norman too kept a body, refusing to let go of the only structure he had ever known. When his mother who had berated him his entire life dies Norman has a mental break and he not only taxidermies her body in order to preserve it, his personality splits into two people. One was being himself, and the other becoming his dead mother. Norman Bates like Emily is an example of when obsession can take over a person, sometime literally, and becomes unhealthy. In the case of Norman, his dual personality, his other self, killed anyone that stayed at the motel. The motel and house representing the self-inflicted prison Norman has sentenced him to, just as Emily did with her
A man starting from nothing with only the urge to write becoming so much more. The King of Horror is a member of many guilds, writer of some of the best horror novels, and has even made a couple movies. Although, with a current net worth of 400 million dollars, Stephen King was not always the King of Horror.
At a time when the stalker movie had been exploited to all ends and the image of mute, staggering, vicious killers had been etched into society’s consciousness to the point of exhaustion, a new kid entered the block. The year was 1984 and it was time for a new villain to enter into the horror genre. A villain that was agile, intelligent, almost inviolable yet viscous, and by all means deadly. A Nightmare on Elm Street introduced the distinctive presence of Fred Krueger to the horror industry and to the audience. Freddy Krueger took the center stage and with him a new era of horror films began. This horribly scarred man who wore a ragged slouch hat, dirty red-and-green striped sweater, and a glove outfitted with knives at the fingers reinvented the stalker genre like no other film had. Fred Krueger breathed new life into the dying horror genre of the early 1980’s.
We've come to a point where television has become so loaded with “vampire-this” and “werewolf-that,” that each show has begun to look like the reruns of another. Luckily, this definitely isn't the case for creator Vince Gilligan's, Breaking Bad. Breaking Bad follows the life of Walter White (played by Bryan Cranston), an ordinary high school chemistry teacher. With a loving wife and teenage son at home, over time, Walter has formed an exceedingly mundane routine for his life. After soon discovering that he had been diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer, Walter decided to take extreme measures in order to secure his family financially. Eventually, he would descend into a world so dark and utterly twisted, that it would eventually consume him. Walter White became Heisenberg; the greatest drug lord the streets had ever seen. As he ascended in status within the drug cartel, the love and trust he had from his family and friends quickly descended. There are thousands of reasons that explain why millions of people tune into Breaking Bad. This series offers a much needed relief from the Dracula descendents, which frankly, are slowly diminishing any scope of variety existing on television. Because of the outstanding acting, seemingly distorted reality, and uniquely relatable storyline and characters, this hit show tops the charts as the best modern-day television series that cable has to offer.
