The corporation turned itself into the booming sector of online services and became an interactive business player in a wide array of services. Today, American Express, known as Amex, is a multi-billion dollar corporation that has reshaped its services and operates more than 1700 travel service locations in over 130 countries across the globe.

American Express (Amex) is a global corporation that used advanced internet technology to reposition and diversify its marketing methods to attract a larger market. To keep its status of the largest travel agency around the world, the company took the challenge to expand its travel agencies through a well-developed web site. In 1995, American Express launched ExpressNet, a web site dedicated to travel services; then in 1996, the corporation introduced American Express Travel on the Web.
The main website www.americanexpress.com, offers an apparently discrete and simple site map. The services and products are reachable from clickable words or icons. When a customer is accustomed with the website, he o...

When American Express first came about, it would fit the assumed picture of a typical call center: a tall building filled with thousands of service agents aligned on every floor. For years, a typical work-day for each employee consisted of repeated, recorded, scripted, and timed phone conversations. Today, though, it is a whole new world. Today, no two conversations are the same. American Express finally realized that opening the gates and allowing employees be themselves would sell more product than ever before.
The banking industry is under pressure in today’s business climate. Banks have been through big changes. There is opportunity, but there is also increasing competition. To be the preferred bank means changing “good enough” into a unique value proposition. And that means changing the way people have always done things, change on this level requires cutting edge technology. Change cannot be achieved with a simple directive or surface adjustment especially within the banking industry. It requires an innovative rethink of the entire system, in a strong partnership between bank leaders and their change agents. New systems and policies must support the strategy to be successful. The real test of a good strategy implementation plan is whether the people understand the strategy, are motivated and enabled to implement it, and actually start achieving its goals.

John Pierpont Morgan is considered one of the founding fathers of the modern United States economy. He was an industrial genius that is accredited with the founding of many companies including General Electric and AT&T. However, Pierpont is looked upon as a saint and demon the same. He received a honorary degree from Harvard university that read: "Public citizen, patron of literature and art, prince among merchants, who by his skill, wisdom and courage, has twice in times of stress repelled a national danger of financial panic." But Robert LaFollette, the Wisconsin progressive, saw him as "a beefy, red-faced thick-necked financial bully, drunk with wealth and power." Despite conflicting opinion on his persona, his influence and character shaped the business world more so than any other person at the turn of the century. Morgan was a banker, railroad czar, industrialist, financier, philanthropist, yachtsman, and ladies' man. He was king to a handful of millionaire barons who controlled the country's wealth in an era of little government regulation.
The question is if Arrow/Schweber should accept the offer of Express and sell their products via this internet-based trading system. In the best case A/S could gain transactional customers, who just want to buy a product and have no need for special service. In the worst case A/S could lose relationship customers, because the possibility of getting better prices on the internet platform is higher, since there are more competitors that can be compared.
On 9th December 2013, American Airlines Group Inc was formed due to the merger of American Airlines and US Airways. This merger, approved by the Department of Justice, caused the American Airlines Group Inc to be formed.
American Express has always been known for its benefits to travelers. Some of the new travel discounts; such as the “Bahamas Getaway” packages offer significant discounts for planning a vacation in the Bahamas through a travel agent. The catch is that one must charge it on the American Express card to get the discounts. Coupon books that offer discounts at many shops, restaurants and attractions are given to those who buy a package. Over $11 million in “Bahama Getaway” packages were sold in 1999. Other getaway packages are available to consumers all over the world. American Express has successfully used this marketing strategy, as it realized that consumers want an opportunity to enjoy an exotic vacation, while at the same time, getting value for their dollar. Saving money is important to most consumers. Once again, American Express aims to please its customers.

American Airlines like many other airlines are facing many challenges in the HR area of benefits and incentives. American Airlines as we all know is one of the leading airlines in today’s airline industry. This status reflects upon Americans benefit program. American Airlines realizes that it must stay competitive in this area to ensure that they get the most qualified employees. American Airlines offers many benefits and incentives for their employees with hopes to attract the best. Many of the benefits are standard and required by law such as social security, unemployment, workers compensation, and leaves without pay. What really must be paid attention too are the benefits and incentives that are offered in addition to the ones required by law. These benefits and incentives are what attract individuals to work for American rather than another airline. Benefits such as a 401 K - Super Saver, which allows up to an ample 20% tax provision, a stock purchase plan, a credit union which could help one to buy a house, and personal emergency coupled with sick pay, just to name a few. American Airlines also recognizes ten major holidays for which employees do not have to work, yet they still get paid. Most of these are benefits that competing airlines offer, but one benefit stands out. American Airlines pass travel program is a benefit that many do not tend to overlook. American do...
In August of 1971, Smith started his venture by buying controlling interest in Arkansas Aviation Sales. While operating his new firm, Smith recognized the tremendous difficulty in getting packages delivered within one- to- two days. This dilemma motivated him to do the necessary research for resolving the current inefficient distribution system. Thus, the idea for Federal Express was born: a company that revolutionized global business practices and now defines speed and reliability1.

Travelers Group began as Commercial Credit which was a subsidiary of Control Data Systems. The company then bought out the conglomerate, Primerica, taking its name and began using a cross-selling strategy where each branch would sell each other’s services. In 1992, Primerica and Travelers Insurance formed a strategic alliance which then became Travelers Inc. primarily selling insurances. In the mid-90’s, Travelers merged with Aetna Property and Casualty, Inc and then with Salomon Brothers, a major bond trader and investment bank (Wikipedia 2008).
This comparison between American Airlines (AA) and US Airways (AWE) starts from the year ending report in 2008 after AWE finally completed embedding America West into their operations in October, a process begun in 2005. Neither has taken part in any mergers or takeovers since then and, despite AWE briefly flirting with the idea of taking over United Airlines in 2008, merger and acquisition plans for both had been subordinate to recovering from the Global Financial Crisis (GFC).
Some acquisitions were Tiger International Inc. in 1989 and Evergreen International Airlines. With the former, Federal Express “became the world’s largest full-service, all-cargo airline” while the later gave it “aviation rights to the world’s most populous nation” of China. On a global scale, Federal Express serves and operates in over 220 countries and territories. However, the name FedEx was not incorporated until 1998 with the acquisition of Caliber System Inc. It was through this that we came to have FedEx Express, FedEx Ground (RPS), FedEx Global Logistics (Caliber Logistics and Caliber Technology), FedEx Freight (American Freightways and Viking Freight) etc. Many more acquisitions have also been part of FedEx’s history. However, let us now discuss the executive leadership team behind
