Hi team,
I wanted to give you guys a more detail explanation about the opportunity at Children's Hospital. AltaMed Body Works Clinic has a 7-week nutrition program for overweight or obese children to attend with their parents. As families are being weight/measured and seen by a pediatrician, we will be preparing our material to teach with Dr. Kreutzer (RD) the nutrition curriculum part of the program. We can teach either the parents or the kids. I personally would prefer the kids curriculum since it's a bit easier, but we can decide that later as a group.
We would need to officially start next week, Sept 23rd from 5-7pm to make sure we finish the 20 hours on time.
Free parking is available at the Von's right across the hospital, you will just need to print out the flyer and put it in the dashboard of your car.

I have been with the program for the past 2 months and I've had a great learning experience so

The health promotion will aim to increase physical activity and enhance the individual’s consumption of nutrient dense food based on Healthy People Guidelines 2010, as well as improve the health literacy for the parent and the individual with regards to childhood obesity. The attendee will also eat at least one and half cups of fruit and one and half cups of vegetables daily for the next 6 mont...

For those students that might qualify for the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program, I met with the University of Minnesota director of public health to discuss and implement a process aimed at reaching out to those students. The guidelines for applying, along with the application steps were comprised and formatted into an email. An email from the university was sent to approximately 500-1000 targeted students. The email contained a list of

All parents believe, or would like to believe, that their children are in a state of perfect health. In some cases, this is incorrect due to the parents and children 's lack of knowledge on what the actual state of optimal health is for children. For example, a hot topic around the world today is the issue of childhood obesity. This topic caught my eye because it is truly beginning to have a negative impact on today’s society and is something that needs to be addressed. Currently, my job at the Littleton YMCA provides me the with opportunity to work with children and teach a variety of fitness classes for kids. This has helped me to become passionate about promoting a healthy lifestyle, and showing younger generations ways in which to go about this. Gaining more information on this topic can help me to better
The students will share and discuss their do now. The teacher will then present and explain a PowerPoint. 5-10 minutes
The following five community resources that I found are very important because they provide services to families in the city of Chicago to help them fight childhood obesity. I picked some organizations in the Humboldt Park community because they are going to be more convenient for the child and the family that I am focusing on for this project. As I mentioned in the child profile, “L” is a child who is suffering from child obesity. I think the following resources are going to help him and his family overcome this health problem. As early childhood educators we can help parents change their eating habits and improve their health by referring them to professionals who know how to educate them to better their life.
Sports Dietitians and Pediatric Dietitians will a power source to assist in manifesting this grace of how to effectively implement proper nutrition and exercise activities in a society were our knowledge of resources have advanced but we are becoming one of the unhealthiest generations in recorded history by nearly tripling our obesity rate to under 15% in 1980s to now over 38%. Developing personal skills useful to nutrition and weight management has to start at a young age so that the children are educated of the decisions they are making as they grow older to give them control over their decisions. This can happen through the school environment and many community settings. To target the older generations that are no longer at school the community needs to work together in providing groups that inform people of the risks of being obese or groups that are supportive in helping people manage their weight and nutrition.
The Obesity Outreach Program is dedicated to promote excellence in the practice of individuality, family, organization, and community health. The health affairs objective is to improve the human health, as well as being responsible to sustain the integrity and ethics of healthy choices while facing the daily challenges of making decisions. We value contrast in our society and embrace the variety of approaches in our work to support the worth, dignity, potential, and uniqueness of all people.
Since then, Basic Principles of Curriculum and Instruction has been a standard reference for anyone working with curriculum development. Although not a strict how-to guide, the book shows how educators can critically approach curriculum planning, studying progress and retooling when needed. Its four sections focus on setting objectives, selecting learning experiences, organizing instruction, and evaluating progress. Readers will come away with a firm understanding of how to formulate educational objectives and how to analyze and adjust their plans so that students meet the objectives. Tyler also explains that curriculum planning is a continuous, cyclical process, an instrument of education that needs to be fine-tuned.
The understandings I have gained from this course have completely revamped my way of teaching. I have been using the unit plan and curriculum map I created in this course for the past two years, and my students enjoy it more and more each year. Learning the importance of using big ideas and essential questions in the classroom have made me a better educator and has assisted my students in learning content and skills that they can transfer to all academic areas and into their everyday lives. I now use big idea and essential questions in every ...
For lesson planning purposes, what information do you need to know to help give you the greatest impact on instruction?
In the process of completing this coursework, I have realised that every teacher should be all-rounded and equipped with adequate skills of educating others as well as self-learning. As a future educator, we need make sure that our knowledge is always up-to-date and applicable in the process of teaching and learning from time to time. With these skills, we will be able to improvise and improve the lesson and therefore boost the competency of pupils in the process of learning. In the process of planning a lesson, I have changed my perception on lesson planning from the student’s desk to the teacher’s desk. I have taken the responsibility as a teacher to plan a whole 60-minutes lesson with my group members. This coursework has given me an opportunity
