I chose Mathematical practice 1 because it said, “Make sense of problems and persevere in serving them”. I think we use this practice all the time in math, especially in Pre-Ap Math because we are in an advanced class with some advanced problems. With the advanced problems we definitely must persevere in solving them. As for the making sense of problems part the extension problems were a little hard to make sense of at first but once I started working on them they got easier but I still had to persevere in solving them. So I definitely use Mathematical practice 1.
My personal view regarding algebra being a requirement for a degree program has changed from years pasted. If you had asked me this same question as a kid I would have said algebra as a requirement is a terrible idea. 7th grade was the first time I can remember ever seeing an algebra problem and to me it was like a foreign language. All the alphabets and numbers just didn’t make any since to me and many times I just except I wasn’t very smart in math. I struggled from that point on all the way through high school barely passing my math classes. The history of algebra is very complex and went through many centuries of development to the algebra that we know today. Algebra is still being developed and will never quit being developed and added on to. Algebra is a relatively new form of math in the European countries and the Americas. Algebra helped mathematicians and scientists to develop many tools and theorems that people over the world use on a daily basis. Although algebra and geometry were considered separate subsets of math, the two subjects are now unified. Who knows what inventions and discoveries will be made with algebra in the future if mathematicians continue to study the discipline of mathematics.
This week in Algebra A we learned about how to do problems that we needed to know for a quiz. The most important thing i learned in Algebra a is knowing how to do some problems that I didn't get back then. The assignment i spent most time on was divisions with fractions because i don't understand it much and i just give up on it.I can tell i am learning because i get what i am doing now and i don't need much help like before. I am having trouble learning divisions with fractions because i just don't seem to get it. One assignment i am struggling with is kind of word problems because they confuse me and then i ask for help but doesn't seem like i get enough help.
Toen de opdracht uitgelegd was om een vak te kiezen en daarover een profielwerkstuk te gaan maken was er lichte twijfel voor mij tussen de vakken geschiedenis en Engels. Met de mentor heb ik het erover gehad wat voor mij het beste zou zijn en zijn toen tot de conclusie gekomen om het vak geschiedenis te kiezen waar mijn interesses het meeste liggen op school. From my schooling, I had immense interest in Mathematics and thus I chose Mathematics and Science at my intermediate level. My school was the place at which I gained deep knowledge in the fundamentals of Maths and Science. First center is the learning success center. This place calls a learning success center because it has some strategies that can help students realize and practice their study habit.
When I graduated from high school, forty years ago, I had no idea that mathematics would play such a large role in my future. Like most people learning mathematics, I continue to learn until it became too hard, which made me lose interest. Failure or near failure is one way to put a stop to learning a subject, and leave a lasting impression not worth repeating. Mathematics courses, being compulsory, are designed to cover topics. One by one, the topics need not be important or of immediate use, but altogether or cumulatively, the topics provide or point to a skill, a mastery of mathematics.
In my previous studies, I have covered all the four branches of mathematics syllabus and this has made me to develop a strong interest in pure mathematics and most importantly, a very strong interest in calculus.
