The school district of philadelphia is pushing all the students to go to college but is that really the best option for some .. Not all students are interested of going to college like me. There is a second choice other than going to college which is trade school. Why would you want to spend your time studying and working hard on something you have no interest in? If you’re into cars the best option is going to an automotive school. You work and start a future doing something you actually enjoy. People don’t understand that college isn't always the right path, when you get out of college it's not always easy to find a job right after you finish college. It is a lot easier getting a job from automotive school. You can start at dealerships where they are looking for mechanics. When Going to trade school, you go for half the time as college and start at your profession faster . The best thing about picking trade school than college is that it’s a lot cheaper than going then college and you also go out in the work field faster Everyone has a thought that to be successful in the world you are obligated to go to college but this is false. Being an automotive technician you start off at minimum of 18$ an hour . A master …show more content…
My view is that trade school is a great option but it's not for all . If you're trying to become someone who want to work with there hand and cars then trade school is a place for you. Sometimes people don't understand that college is not for everybody just for people who would like to become something really really big . Like my position is people who go to college or people want to become doctors nurses account a job that requires a lot of attention and a lot of studying . trade school is you go for something you truly love and something that you love doing. Of course there are colleges and there's are studies that you could do and that you will love also
In recent discussions of education, a controversial issue has been whether or not to go to college after high school. On the one hand, some argue that starting your career after high school is the smart thing to do. On the other hand, however, others argue that the smarter decision would be to continue your schooling by going to college to get a degree. In sum, then, the issue is whether or not college is the right decision for you. My own view is that you should go to college because it helps you build character, start a tradition, and gives you experience.
In Andrew Braaksma 's essay Some Lessons From The Assembly Line he provides the perspective of a college student learning life lessons from his summer job in a factory and how it showed him not to take his ability to have a higher education for granted. While most students never give it a second thought about not going to college, Braaksma learned from the hard work and low pay to appreciate the opportunities he has. Most college age students have never experienced the struggles of what real life can throw at them. Long hours with low wages, the physically taxing nature of some of these jobs and lack of job security. Having myself worked construction jobs for many years before going back to college his essay could prove invaluable to many students.
Students have many advantages while attending Trade Schools. Students focus strictly on the classes they need to make them the best at what they wish to become. Prior to the direct education, they work mostly hands on. This technique allows students to really understand what they are doing. Also once they complete the school, they are almost guaranteed a position in their career putting them on track to a successful life and reducing the stress of job hunting. The length is short, about 9 months to a year, so students can start a family; buy a car, etc faster than if they were to attend a university. In addition students do not have to leave their families behind. Students who stay in a single parent household and takes care of the house could stay and continue to help their parent out. That way they can better their life while still helping out around the house. The best advantage of attending a Trade School is that it will not leave you in a world of debt, these schools are very affordable. The escape from paying back loans allows students to spend money on them and even start investing in a house if they want. It cost less than 5,000 dollars to complete Trade School; that is less than one year of any university, whether it is in-state or out of state. Therefore high school students and even adults do not have to complete college to be a
In life, no matter who you are, everyone strives to find a job that makes enough money. In addition, to also make you happy and to feel important. People that fail to do this often lose ambition and the confidence they need to succeed. There are multiple outlets to purse including college, a trades union or construction, and also the military. Unless you are able to get lucky, these are the three most common paths to take in life. Matthew Crawford is a perfect example of this, who is also the author of “The Case for Working with Your Hands.” Crawford got a prestigious degree but ultimately decided that he would be better off working in a motor cycle garage. He is proof that you can find success outside of college if you take the right direction. Anthony Depalma provided a great example in the artile he wrote called “Fifteen Years on the Bottom Rung.” Depalma tells the story of John Zannikos and his former employees where Zannikos came to this country and started a booming restaurant due to luck, not being smarter or craftier then the other immigrants. The other immigrants got left in the dust due to being stuck in a dead end job. Fast food though and other entry level jobs, is not a boulevard of dreams you can find achieve enough to find wealth and peace of mind.
The positives of trade school are lost in the ocean of colleges seeking your attention to bring in more students. Trade schools offer lower cost, faster graduation, classes only relating to the chosen major, teach hands-on as opposed to theory and do not give students unneeded classes. For these reasons, trade schools is actually a better choice than college for post high school education when you have a specific major in mind. College flexibility is no longer the front runner these days as more and more students are deciding on majors well before
Doing something you’re good at, and learning the different skills that will help you better yourself in the job are more important that what you could learn in a school. College isn’t for everyone, but you can learn just as much without it. Nothing beats, “The satisfaction of being good at what does for a living” (Murray 237). Education is important, it’s been taught since before Kindergarten that a good education will open more doors. And that’s true, however there are also a number of things that you learn through hard work that can’t be taught, instead “work smart...make every move count” (Rose
If you enter the field that you like and go to the right college at the right place and after college you try your best to find the dream job that you have been thinking about in your entire life and really work to achieve your dream, nothing can stop you. Deciding to go to college was not a hard decision to make. And I’m planning on just doing the bachelor degree and then finding a job after that. I will not have to pay back a lot of debt because I am not going to take any loans in my 4 years in college.
Trades schools give one a chance of earning more certificates which gives you room to grow in your desired career (Collegeguide.org). Because a trade school is way faster and cheaper many people now and days are considering going to a trade school right after high school or further in their education. In addition, “with many jobs in our country being outsourced overseas, those who work in a trade often have a greater job security” (collegeguide.org) Which is another great reason why one should consider trade
College is a great way of figuring out what you are and what you want to become. People who are against those who turn professional at an early age say that education should be a top of their list of priorities. “Education and college prepares you for a life outside of sports”, states a columnist from brainevent.com. I too am a firm believer in this, and I also believe that children should continue their education as long as possible. Getting educated helps better your life and molds you into a well rounded person.
Even though college is a good place for you, not everyone is cut out for college. More than 40 percent of those attending four-year colleges full-time fail to graduate in six years according to “Why college isn’t for everyone”. Not graduating college in time would cost you more money and it might cause you to have a dept. also even if you have a degree in a certain field you might end up not getting that job because there are many people out there who are fighting for that job.
A hard choice many people face in today’s society is whether to attend a university or to go to a trade school. With the economy America has right now it is clear that the best way to get an actual paying job is to go to a trade school and receive a certificate, rather than a college degree. It is proven that you can be just as successful in life with a job that requires technical skill over a college degree. Sadly, the culture we live in today brainwashes people into thinking technical degrees are undesirable and that a college degree is the best and only way to go. Often when students proceed on this course of life that society told them to take they may be stuck with large student loans to pay off without the promise of finishing their degree or getting a job.
First of all, college gives us a variety of careers. You may want to be a Doctor or an Astronomer. Both careers are day and night different, but that is the beauty of a college education you are given the opportunity to explore new waters. High school graduates that don't move on to college are not given this opportunity, they are forced to choose from menial and odd jobs, that you may not even enjoy. In the article “Importance of a College Education” by Mr. Hobsons the author states “High school graduates
Since I got into college, I have always wondered what my life would be like after it, is college really worth it? I have chosen the issue of whether or not college is worth it to discuss in this class because being a college student myself I believe I have first hand knowledge about this issue. In my research position paper I will discuss three main reasons backed up with evidence to support my claim that college is indeed worth it. I believe a college degree can take you anywhere. Without a doubt the opportunities are more when one has a college degree.
Heading off to a four-year college after graduating from high school has become the norm. However, like Murray, I believe that a college education is not for everyone. Vocational school provides students with an education and an experience necessary for only their job of interest. Instead of taking off your cap and gown and running off to college, people should consider vocational school because it saves so much money, is worth the time, and prepares students with an education specific to their needs. It is common knowledge that college prices have skyrocketed and put students into major debt. Thousands of dollars in loans are taken out each ye...
When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a veterinarian, but as I grew up and experienced new things, that changed. I was lucky that I discovered this before I went to college, but others aren’t so lucky. Many people spend thousands of dollars on a college degree only to discover later on that they want to change careers. Rather than spend a small fortune and years of time getting a new degree, people can go to a vocational or technical school. These schools are exactly what the people in this country need to get the jobs they deserve. Some of the best schools in this country are technical schools, and we need to stop telling our kids that a traditional college is the only way to a successful career. Although
