Thor of Asgard finally earns his rightful status as Marvel’s mightiest Avenger in Phase 2 of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. Sweeping, smartly paced, and frequently laugh-out-loud funny, Thor: The Dark World is definitely a must-see movie! Thanks in large part to dedicated performances by a supremely talented cast and director Alan Taylor’s talent for seamlessly blending awe-inspiring action with light-hearted comedy.
The story begins with a preview of the newest villain. The Dark Elves were vanquished thousands of years earlier when the soldiers of Asgard, including Thor’s grandfather, were able to steal the weapon known as the ‘Aether’ and hide it.

One element of the new movie that gives it more energy and sparkle is the renewed sibling rivalry of Thor and Loki who must now team up to stop the Dark Elves. Mr Hiddleston proved to be a dynamic villain in The Avengers and that star power explodes again when Loki changes into the anti-hero Thor must reluctantly join forces with in this quest. The question still remains, even after watching the movie, of whether Loki is the villain, side-kick or hero. Whatever your opinion may be, Tom Hiddleston has definitely stole Thor’s thunder as Loki.
Thor: The Dark World has all the CGI action sequences one expects in a superhero movie, and if you have been watching the TV series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. you will recognize the geek/nerd comedy asides provided by Foster’s lab buddies Darcy (Kat Dennings) and Ian (Jonathan Howard) as very similar to the geek scientists on the TV series. Why Stellan Skarsgard, introduced as Dr. Erik Selvig in the first Thor, is also treated as a comedy

I want to introduce you to, The Fellowship of the Rings, by J. R. R. Tolkien. It is the first book to the Lord of the Rings, written by Tolkien. The settings in this book changed many times from the hills of the Shire, where the hobbits live, to the deep darkness of the mines of Moria. The book takes place in Middle Earth, which is described by Tolkien as a mysterious place that is full of good and evil. The way Tolkien described each place is amazing and it is as if you were looking at a picture and copying it down into your head. The setting in the book is very important to the story. It kept me thinking and wondering what was going to happen next, which made me read more and more. I couldn’t even begin to describe the setting of the whole book, so I mainly mentioned some of the major locations that took place in the book.
Allen Moore’s sordid depiction of twentieth century life presents a complex world, where the distinction between a virtuous hero and a villainous wrongdoer is often blurred. In stark contrast to the traditionally popularized portrayal of superheroes, whose unquestionably altruistic motives ultimately produce unrealistically idealized results; the realistically flawed characters of Watchmen exist in a multi faceted world characterized by moral ambiguity. America’s imperialistic ambitions have long been justified as an expression of American idealism. Much like the portrayal of superheroes in popular culture, America’s intervention in foreign affairs was portrayed as the result of a clearly defined problem, where American intervention was necessary and consensual. The Watchmen exist in an American reality that does not depend on them as the archetypal hero as demonstrated by the fact that their presence is not necessary to the survival of the world. Collectively the characters of Watchmen parallel the tumultuous relationship that as a superpower the United States of America has with the rest of the world.
Not only is Loki a trickster, but he is also famous for his shapeshifting, meaning he is “able to take on the appearance of whatever chose” (McLeish, par. 2). Shapeshifting is an ability that few of the Norse...

But Loki was jealous of Balder because everyone loved him so much. So Loki set out to find the mistletoe. He was so jealous that he wanted Balder dead.
In the film Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) I will demonstrate that the main message is how meaningful friendships are and how those friendships will help you when you need it the most. I will use Frodo’s journey with the “Fellowship of the Ring” to validate this claim by analysing Richard Gombrich theory of cognitive and affective beliefs. Moreover, I will use Arnold van Gennep’s theory of the rites of passage to illustrate the creation and meaning of Frodo’s friendships. I will also use Jacques Derrida theory of “text” to analyze how “text” was used by Frodo’s friends in helping him through his journey.

Furthermore, the main rising action and plot twist of the film are also products of Loki’s antics. The instigating moment which causes Thor to visit Jotunheim is in fact caused by Loki. Loki manages to sneak Giants into Asgard in order to create tension between Thor and the Giants, ultimately leading Thor to his banishment. This is consistent with events in Ragnarok, also known as the Doom of the Gods, where Loki is seen to side with, and even lead, the Giants and against the gods (Somerville and McDonald 51). The unanticipated plot twist in the film is that Loki initially betrays the gods and cooperates with the Giants, but is revealed to have double-crossed the Giants in order to gain Odin’s favour. All this treachery leads one to question Loki’s loyalty, as that is a very important quality of a warrior. This would usually bring up the subject of honour, but it is known throughout mythology that Loki is an eccentric character, and like Odin, transgresses boundaries. He has sacrificed his honour on many occasions, such as dressing up as “Freya’s” handmaiden, or seducing a horse, and fathering monstrous offspring (Lindow 217). Therefore, the fact that Loki misleads the gods and deceives the Giants in Thor is not

One day Loki arrives with a small troll named Quark who he was challenged to teach how to behave by Utgardaloki. Quark is a real menace and because of this Thor loses his temper and decides to “return” Quark back to Utgardaloki. This is the point where the story starts to closely resemble the story of “Thor’s Journey to
Thor is the Norse God of Thunder. He is also a Deity of lightning, storms, Oak trees, farmers, fertility, strength, destruction, healing and death. Thor is also a protector of mankind and is very loyal to his father Odin and the Aesir Gods. With his one of a kind armor suits, quirky characteristics and beyond extreme superpowers, Iron Man is by far one of the supreme Marvel superheroes. While most superheroes are commonly known for simply ‘saving the day’, Iron Man goes above and beyond. His sarcastic attitude and witty comments are hilarious and bring a sense of humor to viewers and fans, showcasing that he is so much more than your typical superhero. Iron Man is simply incomparable and his superiority and even more intelligent mind are just additional examples for his greatness. He is looked upon as a leader to others and has saved the planet more than enough times as proof of his hard work. Even without the suit, Tony proves to be a superhero with his worthy and kind intentions. Long live the legacy of an incredible man, and superhero!
