The films name is “Thor” released in 2011 and created by “Marvel” Studios. The film was published by “Joseph Michael Straczynski” and directed by “Kenneth Branagh.” The films running time is about 2 hours long. The main featured actors in the film are, “Chris Hemsworth, and Natalie Portman. The film is based on a fictional writing in Norse Mythology with characters that have unforeseen powers given to them to protect realms of the universe.
The movie Thor is about a young man who all he has dreamed about is becoming king of his home, “Asgard.” Thor is what seems to be a combination of a Viking with the power of lighting. Thor has a huge ego and at times thinks he is better than anyone else. While his brother Loki looks at him with great jealousy,

Some of the differences between what the film maker uses compared to the supplemental work can be very obvious when watching the film. When looking at the supplemental work, or original creation of the character Thor, in the film he is seen to be a fascinating hero and creates a lot of action in the film. While the actual story has all the jargon that some may not understand. The film creator has left out of the actual film. The reason he may have left all the real detail out of the film was because many viewers may not have understood what the film was actually trying to say. The film maker got a good portion of the movie right. For example, in the film, many of the heroes are seen to be very large, and in Norse Mythology, it states that a hero like Thor was seen to be a Viking. The film maker also pointed out many other scenarios that were read in the supplemental work such as his hammer. Thor was the only one who could lift …show more content…
Fictional films like these are meant to entertain and inspire. It would be unpractical for someone to go see this type of film on the day of release and come out acting as if they would the main character for the rest of their lives. However, it would be interesting to see someone really go into depth of what they think about cultures elsewhere being similar to the Asgardians.
This film has no similarities to how people are today. Maybe one day when better and more advanced technology exist we will see people have these similar powers as the Asgardian’s. In my opinion, as before, it would be unpractical for these types of scenarios to exist in the real world as it does in the film “Thor.”
In conclusion, the film was amazing, entertaining, and inspiring. It was difficult to catch anything educational out of the film, although as said before, there are major similarities between the Spartans and Asgardians. How they dress, train, and fight. Hopefully we will continue to see more films like this in the coming
Woden’s left eye was the last sure hope of gods and men in their kingdom of light surrounded by darkness. All we have left is Thor’s hammer, which represents not brute force but art, or, counting both hammerheads, art and criticism…
Since Hugo's father is focusing on Odin, he will help Odin when they both get into troubles.
Another Greek myth that can be compared to the movie Iron Man is the myth of Hercules, these two stories can be compared using a motifs of the Iron Man armour, and the physical appearance of Hercules. The most common motif that appears in the movie Iron Man is the armoured suit. It is the most common thing you see in almost every scene. Although the suit may change in appearance throughout the movie it is almost always visible and present in the movie itself, it is also very vibrant, and outstanding with a gold, and bronze paint job all this together makes the Iron Man armour the best example of a motif from the movie Iron Man. In the Greek myth Hercules who is the son of Zeus, a motif that is similar, and present in this story is the physical appearance of Hercules himself. Hercules in his story is portrayed as being physically massive tall muscular extremely fit person who has a physique similar to a god.
Hercules of 1997 got put together by one of the popular Disney directors, Ron Clements and John Musker. Their earlier works include “The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” and “The Great Mouse Detective,” which were movies that were astoundingly successful Disney movies that almost everyone enjoyed watching. Hercules without a doubt is one of my top Disney favourite movies, because of its really pop and melodious songs, and its simple yet very intricate plotline.
..., and creating CGI and miniature sets according to illustrations by famous Tolkien artists. These examples that Thompson gave all were able to convince me of the significance of how the films were made.
In the movie Thor the title character is cast out of Asgaurd by his father and returns by proving himself worthy of his power and his father’s thrown. Similarly, the Odyssey is about Odysseus’ long journey back to his kingdom after the Trojan War. Thor and the Odyssey are very alike; but great hardship and historical literature reveals a contrast.
overall view of this film is that I think that it is a great portrayal
Roman and Greek mythology are filled with multiple interpretations of how the creator, be it the gods or nature, contributed to the birth of the world. These stories draw the backgrounds of the gods and goddesses that govern much of classical mythology. Ovid’s Metamorphoses and Hesiod’s Theogony are two pieces of work that account for how our universe came to be. A comparison of Theogony with Metamorphoses reveals that Hesiod’s creation story portrays the deities as omnipresent, powerful role whose actions triggered the beginning of the universe whereas in Metamorphoses, the deities do not play a significant role; rather the humans are center of the creation. The similarities and differences are evident in the construction of the universe, ages of man, and the creation of men and women on earth.
The legend of Hercules has been told and retold thousands of times; it is by far one of the best known Greek myths of all time. In fact, it was so well known that Disney made it into a movie. Like any story that’s adapted into a movie there are some differences and similarities between the myth and the movie. This paper will go over the main differences and similarities between the two versions of the same myth.
They had similar beliefs, but also immeasurable differences. It was composed of many meaningful gods and goddesses that all played a part in the everyday life of the average Roman and Greek person of that time.
The Vikings have garnered attention over the years not only for their raiding and trading, but also for the Paganist gods and religion. Similar to many other ancient civilizations, the Vikings leave behind many myths containing tales of their gods and their beliefs. Marvel’s 2011 film Thor serves as an introduction to Norse gods and mythology, but it does fall flat in term of accuracy and detail in certain areas. Despite various large and small-scale changes to its overall plot and characters, Thor has been well-adapted to portray Norse myths as best as possible within an existing Marvel franchise.
I fully accept that I am a geek when it comes to the Marvel superhero comics. I could not help but note that after watching Captain America, my favorite from the Avenger’s series, I noticed Chris Evans capitalized on the classic iconic American Hero. Typically when we hear superhero we think of a man that begins with Bat, Spider or Super. Yet none of these men fully embody the American icon of comic heroism. While using a narrative paradigm and Bourke I will examine our icon in comparison to a Norwegian Viking through a postmodern lens. Comparing these two icons may seem as an odd comparison, however their similarity might shed light into who the American hero really is.
Hundreds of years ago people did not have the technology to explain different forces of nature. They created gods, each with separate powers, to rule their domains. Some of the gods were merciful, some were wicked, and others were merely servants of more powerful gods. Looking at the gods, it is easy to tell what the civilization most valued. I am going to look at the Greek and the Norse gods to compare what was most important to their societies.
Thor of Asgard finally earns his rightful status as Marvel’s mightiest Avenger in Phase 2 of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. Sweeping, smartly paced, and frequently laugh-out-loud funny, Thor: The Dark World is definitely a must-see movie! Thanks in large part to dedicated performances by a supremely talented cast and director Alan Taylor’s talent for seamlessly blending awe-inspiring action with light-hearted comedy. The story begins with a preview of the newest villain.
It has some very good and bad thing in it. One of the best thing in it is the final battle scene where the superheroes collaborate with each other to attend their goal. That promotes ‘unity is strength.’ Another good thing in the movie is the end where they show how the people are honoring and cheering the superheroes while there is a man who didn’t support them by saying they are responsible for the mass destruction of the city. That shows no matter what happens there will always be a negative comment.
