When an offender is sentenced to imprisonment, post sentencing considerations must be made based on an evaluation of the individual and this will determine the manner in which the prison sentence is served. Post sentencing considerations include security classifications, parole and continued detention orders. These offer different levels of incapacity, accessibility of rehabilitation programs and incentives for good behaviour, and are implicated in order to achieve justice through upholding the rights of the victim, the offender and the wider community.
...ible child offender is not a good idea, due to the fact that there are various characteristics that do not align with just one possible profile. A person who seems to be normal according to society’s standards can turn out to be an offender. It is typical for an abuser to withdraw from society, refrain from all socialization, but these characteristics are not always common in all cases. For the most part abusers appear to have normal characteristics according to society’s standards. It is more important to try and recognize possible abuse that may be occurring, than to try to identify those who are committing the abuse.

Do you remember the first time we met? I do as I cannot shake the memory. It was love at first sight. I’ll never forget the feeling I had. A warmth overcame my body as you stoked a fire in my heart. You were exactly what I had been missing in my life. My better half you completed me you made me whole. Your touch, your scent, your glistening radiance I took it all in. You awakened some innate primal desire and I needed you at all times.

The reason why I chose aggravated assault is because I didn’t know very much about the subject; so I decided that maybe it would be a great time to educate myself by researching and writing an essay about it.
Sexual assault is defined as a type of behaviour that occurs without explicit consent from the recipient and under sexual assault come various categories such as sexual activities as forces sexual intercourse, incest, fondling, attempted rape and more (Justice.gov. 2017). People often become victims of sexual assault by someone they know and trust (Mason & Lodrick, 2013) which is conflicting to the public’s perception and beliefs that offenders are strangers. Women are the main victims for sexual assault and are 5 times more likely to have been a victim of sexual assault from a male (Wright, 2017, p. 93). Men are victims of sexual assault however only 0.7% of men, compared to 3.2% of women, experience some form of sexual assault which highlights how vulnerable women are compared to men. Sexual assault is publicised and exposed in the media, however is often

One of the most popular strategies imposed for habitual offenders came in the 1990s, known as three strikes laws. These laws stipulate that if an offender commits a third strike felony, they will be locked up for an extended amount of time, even including life in prison without parole. Three strikes laws are long prison sentences given to repeat offenders for serious violent crimes. Three strikes refers to the popular baseball term “three strikes and you’re out.” With three strikes legislation, offenders with two prior violent felony convictions convicted of a third felony, will receive a 25 year to life sentence. What sounds like an appealing get tough strategy, may in fact do the reverse of its intended result. The three strikes law is an attempt to reduce crime by isolating habitual criminals from a society in which they obviously cannot control themselves in. Recidivism refers to committing the same crime repeatedly, despite having been found guilty and serving the punishment. In this literature review, empirical evidence provided by respected criminal justice
Sexual assault is a worldwide epidemic that has long lasting and devastating effects on the victims. The terms sexual abuse and sexual assault are often used interchangeably. Most often the term “sexual abuse” is used when the victim is under the age of 18 and “sexual assault” is used when the victim is over the age of 18. For the purposes of this paper, “sexual assault” will be most often used as this provides a better description of the impact it has on the victims. Women are more often the victim than men; however, all races, cultures, and societies are affected by sexual assault and child sexual abuse (Davies and Jones, 2013). It is nearly impossible to determine exactly how many women have been victimized. There are two primary reasons that make such estimates difficult. First, there are so many different definitions and terms used to describe sexual abuse and assault and definitions vary from state to state (Holcomb and Holcomb, 2011). According to Holcomb and Holcomb (2011, p 27), sexual assault is used as an overarching term, encompassing a large number of sexual behaviors – physical, verbal, and psychological – that violate the health and well-being of an individual. Holcomb and Holcomb (2011) provides their own definition of sexual assault as “any type of sexual behavior or contact where consent is not freely given or obtained and is accomplished through force, intimidation, violence, coercion, manipulation, threat, deception, or abuse of authority” (p. 28). In contrast to Holcomb and Holcomb’s broad definition of sexual assault, many researchers advocate for a more narrow interpretation to prevent over reporting, thus inflating statistics (Holcomb and Holcomb, 2011). The Lancashire Sexu...

Community correction, probation, as well as parole, acts as alternatives to incarceration. The development of correctional centers has in the past experienced legal issues controversies. In this part, I seek to answer the following questions based on the issues on page 96 of Morgan’s Book the type of probation is determined by the level of the crime as well as the impact of the offense on the public members. In our cases study, John’s case does not only violate the set norms but equally impacts negatively on the general community. Nevertheless, the probation process is often influenced by probation conditions such as limitations, special conditions as well as standard conditions.
