Passengers on the public transit are occasionally rude and disrespectful to other passengers on the bus. I like to refer passengers on the public transit to high school students. Now you may say that this might not make any sense, but i’m about to explain why this is true. In high school there are always three types of people in a situation. The people who are bullied, but don’t say anything about it, the people who bully other individuals, and the individuals who try to fix the problem. Bullying doesn't necessarily mean physically, but could also mean not having empathy towards someone else. The reason why I say they're similar is because, I’ve whiteness the same types of passengers while taking the bus. I’m going to break this down into three …show more content…
On the “TTC” there are rules that if you are riding the bus and you identify someone who is either pregnant, an elder, or in a wheelchair you have to give up your seat to them. Some people choose to ignore these rules and ignore the individuals who are struggling, if it comes to the possibility of them encountering this situation. The people who are getting bullied are the passengers who are either pregnant, an elder, or in a wheelchair who are struggling while riding the bus because they have nowhere to sit and may not be comfortable to ask you to give up your seat. The people who bully are the passengers who disregard the rules, and and the passengers who fix the problem are the ones who give up their seats. If this situation were reversed and you where the person getting bullied wouldn't you want someone to help to …show more content…
Well, people still carry that habit around with them while waiting for the “TTC” to pick up its passengers. We shouldn't have to take another person's spot in line to get on the bus first, if you were responsible enough to get to the bus stop earlier then you wouldn't have to worry about taking someone else's spot in line. That isn't fair for the people who left home earlier to just have to wait longer. We shouldn't have to worry about people taking our place in line, because we should be mature enough to know that everyone is going to the same place. Meaning that we are all going to get on the bus at some point and if you don't get to get on then you should be able to wait a little
Most bullies share certain characteristics. Usually, a bully is bigger than the person he is aggravating. Also, he tends to think highly of himself, normally because he feels inadequate. Thirdly, a bully picks on a person who is different or thinks differently than him. In “Rowing the Bus”, Paul showcases the characteristics of a bully.
This case of bullying can happen in any school, regardless of social or economic characteristic. Now, I do think that how disciplines are handled does have an influenced on the racial, social, and economic characteristics of the school. Usually schools that have more funding for counselors, social services and staff that can focus more on discipline are in better areas. Inner city schools tend to have more police officers than counselors, therefore discipline issues are a bigger factor. Again, in the case of bullying, it can happen in any school, it is how the situations are handled or the number of suspensions that more of a factor in this
There are bullies everywhere you go some noticeable and others not at all, you may not recognize a bully because they come in many different forms. The abusiveness of bullies’ is usually deliberate and not accidental. There are bullies at work, online, in the public and mostly school. So who is a bully? A bully is a person that causes emotional, psychological, or physical harm by using two different types of attacks. The first type being direct attacks, this consists of threatening, teasing, taunting, name calling, stealing, damaging of belongings, and hitting. Studies say that this type of attack is more common between males. “While both boys and girls say others bully them by making fun of the way they look or talk, boys are more likely to report being hit, slapped, or pushed”( Nansel, Overpeck, Pilla, Ruan, Simons-Morton, Scheidt 2001). The other type of attacks are indirect, they are spreading of rumors and encouraging others to reject someone else. Studies say that this type of attack is more common between females. “Teenage girls are more often the targets of rumors and sexual comments” ( Nansel, Overpeck, Pilla, Ruan, Simons-Morton, Scheidt 2001). Bullies usually target people who are different, it may be physical differences or even intelligence, and also they tend to target people who won’t retaliate back. They usually harass the person by attacking at there differences and imperfections. So a bully is someone who causes harm to others over and over again.

Today is the day! The vacation that has been plastered on the calendar, programmed to remind you every day on your phone, and put on a countdown app is now finally here. After a week of preparation, you are all ready to head to the airport. Upon arriving into the airport, you notice the ticket counter is eerily empty. It is your turn to check in and the customer service agent asks where you are going to which you respond Ft. Lauderdale. The agent informs you that the flight to Ft. Lauderdale have been canceled from your airport; and the next available direct flight is not until the middle of next week. That definitely does not work for you so you ask is there another way to get there, maybe thru a connection? The only way to get there today is by flying all the way up to Boston which is two hours in the wrong direction just to fly past where you started to get to your destination. So, this now 4-hour trip has turned into an all-day affair. Not wanting to waste any more time you take the Boston option vowing never to fly JetBlue again.

The three important components to bullying are as followed; bullying is aggressive behavior that involves unwanted, negative actions, bullying involves a pattern of behavior repeated over time, and bullying involves an imbalance of power and strength (Olweus1). At one point in time, bullying had meant a push on the playground, or a mean slur, however bullying has progressed from then. Bullying can be described as the systematic abuse of power (Smith3). Kids take it upon themselves to hurt, and bring down others, which is not justification whatsoever. It is hurtful, and spiteful. Regardless of your personal feelings about someone, ...
When someone first thinks of bullying, their perception of the bully may be someone who chooses to be mean or cruel to another due to their own low self-esteem. This concept however is one that may not be true at all. In fact, according to Jaana Juvonen, a professor of developmental psychology at UCLA, who has published multiple books and articles on this subject, a bully usually has a very high self-esteem and is usually from the group that one would consider being the “popular crowd”. The preposterous phrase; I would never jump out of a perfectly good airplane is a phrase that nearly all of us have heard one time or another. Not only have I heard the phrase before, but I’ve also said it. In addition, I’ve seen someone I know personally do it. Envious wasn’t the first word that came to mind of what I was feeling when I witnessed my Nephew Nicholas jump out high above the Snohomish Airport. How he got into that predicament I’ll never know.
Children are bullied for thousands of reasons, none of them are valid (Hile [pg. 26]). There aren’t any causes that puts a child at risk of being a bully or being bullied by others. It can happen anywhere in any city, town, or suburb. It also can depend on the environment, such as upon groups of gays, ...
Bullying can be described in three components. First, bullying is aggressive behavior that involves unwanted, negative actions. Second, bullying involves a pattern of behavior repeated over time. Third, bullying involves an imbalance of power or strength. The text states that practically every ethnic group has a strong feeling of ethnocentrism, “an orientation or set beliefs that holds one’s own culture, ethnic or racial group is superior to others” (Barker, 2003, p. 148).
A bully can be defined in several ways and this term is sometimes exaggerated. However, according to the Miriam-Webster Dictionary, a bully is defined as “one habitually cruel to others who are weaker” and bullying is defined as “to cause (someone) to do something by making threats or insults or by using force”. These are the formal definitions of the term, but the def...
