The Age of Exploration was a time period when Europeans made discoveries that transformed the world. The Age of Exploration was due to scientific developments and the desire for wealth. The Age of Exploration is a period that started in the 15th century with the first Portuguese explorations. During The Age of Exploration, Europeans used many tools and technology to make discoveries that transformed the world. During The Age of Exploration many explorers wanted to explore for many different reasons. Since they wanted to explore, they did explore and they made discoveries and explorations, and as a result, many effects many effects were made on the world.
The Age of Exploration began as a result of new technologies that guided explorers during sea voyages. Explorers used many tools and technologies during The Age of Exploration, to explore and make discoveries. Technology and tools that explorers used, included, caravels, compasses, astrolabes, and even sponsors. A sponsor is a person who gives money for an undertaking, such as a voyage. A sponsor would also provide money for materials needed for the voyage, such as, caravels, and other necessities. A caravel is probably the most important material needed for a voyage. A caravel is a ship designed for long voyages. Caravels have both square sails, and triangular lateen sails. However, they each provided/allowed different things. Square sails provided power, when lateen sails allowed quick turns. The compass, a Chinese invention, allowed sailors to track their direction. Due to all the exploring most of our Native American ancestors have mixed with people from Europe, or Africa, and this has changed the way we look ,completely, it changes our skin color, our hair, our eyes etc. Exploring has also influenced the way we talk. Last but not least, thanks to explorers, we have become more advanced. The caravel, a small, lateen-rigged ship of 12-18 meters (Russel, 229) , was developed as a fishing boat in the early 13th century, in Portugal. Its maneuverability and speed made it possible for explorers, merchants, and fisherman alike, to go further, faster. The Caravel would become the backbone of early Spanish and Portuguese exploration, and the model on which many other vessels were based. Columbus used two caravels in his ‘discovery’ of the new world: the Niña and the Pinta; and Vasco Da Gama used the caravel Berrio in his expedition around Africa.
Many events occurred such as, The New World being discovered by European Explorers in 1492. Later in 1498, they also discovered a sea route to India in the East. All of these events contributed to the idea that the Explorers had more impact than the Reformation and Religions. Thus, the Explorers were more important because they found the New World and discovered many things. The Age of Exploration brought many unforeseen changes to the people of Africa. On a path seeking gold, glory, and God, many explorers reached new parts of Africa. Explorers were seeking a more direct route to Asia and believed they must travel through Africa to reach these Asian lands.
