1. INTRODUCTION:
The Act of Parliament that I am going to research is the Age Discrimination Act 2004.

Is it appropriate for an organization to set up age criteria requirement to work in any position?
In this era of equality where diversity plays a crucial part in a workplace to create an inclusive environment of workforce which ensures equal opportunities between different individuals with distinct age, it is important to consider persons of all ages and backgrounds when it comes to equity in employment opportunities.
2. EXPLAINATION OF MY ALLOCATED ACT:

With this Act all the people-young and old; everyone is ensured to be treated equally so that everybody gets equal opportunities. The Act has the power to conduct conciliation and if the issue is not resolved you can take the issue to the Federal Court of Australia.
3. PROMOTING DIVERSITY IN A WORKPLACE IN AUSTRALIA:
In my research I found that the Act is one of the general legal framework applying to agencies and organizations that employs staff under the Public Service Act 1999. It reflects the expectation of government and community about diversity in work place. It promotes diversity within an organisation's workforce by the principles of workplace diversity as mentioned below:
• “treat each other with respect and dignity
• provide a safe, secure and healthy
Within business organizations, aging is something that is inevitable and unique to all people. Business practices need to be in the best interest of an organization, which is also inclusive to the employees, stakeholders, and customers in which they rely on and cater to. Best business practices, both directed and implied (regardless of the location) dictates that businesses follow and adhere to federal, state, city, and other local policies. However we needn’t look too far to see the multiple lawsuits that show continued and practiced bias and prejudice. One such incident involving discriminatory practices involving ageism that will be discussed within this discussion will revolve around a Texas Roadhouse restaurant based in Palm Bay, Florida.
When an individual unintentionally enters a room full of an unfamiliar crowd, he or she is bound to be embarrassed, but also have an apprehensive sensation of how others in that room will distinguish them. A situation like that establishes a moment in which that person realizes that all eyes are gaping at that individual. It can have negative and positive impact on the employee’s behaviour towards work and work results. This also depends on how the employees have understood it and grasps it.
Age discrimination continues to be a problem for both men and women that are over the age of 40 in the workforce. In year 1967, the federal Age Discrimination in Employment Act ADEA was passed to prohibit discrimination against workers over age 40 and older. Another law in the year 1964, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that prohibits employment discrimination on the basis of sex, race, color, religion, or national origin. However there are still age discrimination and it seems to be more especially for older women more than older men. The Federal and the state should implement more regulations to protect workers' rights in all age groups, both in the younger and older generation including their race and gender.
To do this, organizations have to establish these objectives and communicate to employees. For employees to value diversity, they need to understand what the organization is trying to achieve.
