Choir Reflection For choir this year we have sang very nice songs like With the Earth I am One, Afternoon on a Hill, Light a Candle, Hush my babe and a few others. Out of all the songs we have sang this year my favorite one so far is Light a Candle because it was a nice mellow and a very empowering song. Also, because just like every other song it has a little message in it but the message for this one was much more meaningful and inspirational to me than any other. The message this song gave me was that even the lightest peace of hope can make things better. That that little piece of hope can possibly be the solution to the problem. Not only that but also that if things aren't good always keep positive thought on things because everything, as bad as it is, there's some good happening with it. …show more content…
It’s a three part song all the way through but I think what makes it hard to learn for me is the way how even though it says the same thing in some parts the notes are different every time we sing it for the most part. Another thing that makes it hard for me to get it right is that the way how, when we all sing I can't hear myself and then I end up singing it wrong. At times it's just me that I get distracted listening to the other parts that I just start singing their part. Although this happens in class when we go over it, when I look over it at home and I try to fix what I sang wrong I’m able to sing it correctly or closer to what it’s suppose to be. I think the reason it’s hard is because you need to fully concentrate in
That exact statement makes me or any reader feel that failure doesn’t always have to be perceived to be negative. Failure can improve personal growth. We are always scared out the outcome failure will bring, but that is the silver lining for our personal growth. If we concentrate more on the effort we put into a certain task, we can grow by the steps we take along the way. Anyone can succeed, no matter their
One day while in the streets of Hackney, feeling lost and sorry for myself, I heard the pleasant sounds of singing. I had not heard such a cheerful and loving sounds since I stoped going to Sunday school. I followed the sound of the voices...
Some write down people they never met before, some write down their friend’s name, and a few write down the name of a sibling. The song I used for the closing of this album and is a national heart touching song will be, “In the Arms of an Angel” by Sarah McLachlan. I chose this song because these students have gone through something that will completely change their lives and lost a lot of teachers and students. I feel like these lyrics, “In the arms of an angel/ fly away from here” (Arms of An Angel 13-14) and “You’re in the arms of the angel/ May you find some comfort here” (Arms of An Angel 19-20). It fits because the all have lost loved ones and even if some of them were a bit crazy, they are in a better place in the comfort of an
If you keep being positive, positive things will happen. The narrator here uses a logical point of view to show he learned something in a situation where it seems like he only
This quote helped me feel better and concentrate for my better future. I just want the people that read this to know everyone goes through hardships, and there is an ending to the pain and sadness you feel now. I’ve come to realize sulking won’t get me anywhere and I need to move on and become who I want to be, and this quote helped me do
Afternoon by Philip Larkin. A poem which reflects on the subject of marriage is 'Afternoons' by Philip Larkin. The poem deals with Larkin's view on young mothers. watching their kids playing in a playground and on this he concludes that marrying young and having children young, lead to the mothers.
I like this quote because it tells us the change in where humans think everything is good but once a modification is made everything can change. When that certain change is made, it can be painful depending on how you and mind handles it.
Many people across the world are affected every day by the gift of music. To those of us who let it into our lives, we truly view it for what it is. Unfortunately, not everyone realizes how powerful it can be. For me singing was something that I was always good at; I never really took it to heart. I never understood when people would talk about how music had changed there lives; I just didn't see how a few notes put together could affect anyone so deeply. It wasn't until last April when our choir was chosen among a select few to perform at Carnegie Hall that I would understand the indubitable impact of music.
Adversity enhances ones’ positive characteristics due to the provision of an ideal environment for establishing integrity and developing a mature mindset. This conclusion is valid because people tend to learn from their mistakes, thus gain a broader perspective on life.
Robert Frost uses metaphor and symbolism extensively in ‘Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening’, developing deeper and more complex meanings from a superficially simple poem. Frost’s own analysis contributes greatly to our appreciation of the importance of metaphor, claiming that “metaphor [is] the whole of thinking,” inviting the reader to interpret the beautiful scene in a more profound way. However, the multitude of possible interpretations sees it being read as either carefully crafted lyric, a “suicide poem, [or] as recording a single autobiographical incident” . Judith Oster argues, therefore, that the social conditions individual to each reader tangibly alter our understanding of metaphor. Despite the simplicity of language, Frost uses conventional metaphors to explore complex ideas about life, death and nature. The uncertainty, even in the concluding stanza, that encompasses the poem only adds to the depth of possible readings.
Analyzing a poem involves examining various elements. After understanding the story, one can explore the speaker's perspective, as well as other aspects such as setting, language, figures of speech, symbols, atmosphere, mood, characterization, theme, and conflicts. Ultimately, the analyst should determine the poem's underlying message. Robert Frost's "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" is a poem about the speaker who halts his horse near the woods on a snowy evening to admire the serene beauty of the falling snow. The speaker takes a moment to appreciate the peacefulness of the scene as the snowflakes descend from the dark sky.
Always Opportunity in Trouble Henry J. Kaiser once said, “Trouble is only opportunity in work clothes.” This quote can help individuals see that problems and challenges are necessary in life because no matter how hard the problem may seem, there will always be good in it. To face problems in a more successful way, individuals should take Robert Frost’s advice when he said that “The best way out is always through.” It is best to fight through problems and never give up because it will all work out in the end. With every problem, there is an opportunity.
I opened my mouth and shook my head. From deep inside my soul a melody flows out of my chest, off of my tongue, and finally caresses my lips with the sweetest touch, and my song fills the air with a boldness like that of the glory of the angels. The sound of my song is that of unfathomable wonder, a voice as sweet and smooth as the face of a child. I sing and sing and sing my heart out, and I wonder and wonder and wonder in awe of the sound that is coming from my mouth and my throat and my soul, and I sing with more power than I have ever felt before.
It was a calm, overcast day, and I found myself resting at the side of a large oak tree, admiring the beauty of the woods that surrounded me.
Viktor Frankl said, “Everything can be taken from a man but one thing; the last of the human freedoms to choose one’s attitude in any given circumstance, to choose one’s way.” I support this quote because if something doesn’t go the way you want it you could either look at the bright and spirited part of it, and make things better, or look at the dull and awful part of it, and make things worse. If it were me I would always try to look at the bright part of it, especially since you are the one who chooses your own perception and outlook on life. That is why you should think of it like this; do you want your perception on life to be tremendous and wonderful or dreadful and horrific.
