Advertising an Event at a School
My task is to create a poster with a leaflet and or a ticket to
advertise an event at the school. My chosen event is a school disco. I
am 15 years old and attend Ringwood School in the New Forest. The age
range is pupils in the upper year (year 9 to year 11 excluding 6th
form). Teachers and parents of those pupils who are attending are also
invited.
The school is a mixed, public comprehensive school and now a language
college. In the evening it is holds adult education classes and it
also has many extra curricular activities including sports clubs,
which are very popular, a Japanese club and a drama club which are the
moment are rehearsing for the production of 'anything goes'.
The purpose of the poster is to persuade people to attend; the poster
must be attractive and must look encouraging attracting people to go
to the disco. My target audience is the pupils that attend the school
in the upper year, their parents and the teachers. I need to publicise
the event to make sure enough people attend so the school can raise
enough money.
I am going to create a ticket to go with the poster. The ticket must
have the information of the place where the disco will be held at and
the price the person paid for the ticket.
The prices are going to be; Pupils- £1.50, Parents- £2, and teachers -
£1.75.

To get information for my poster and ticket information I can, asks
the event organiser, refer to magazines, leaflets and newspapers and I
can also find a used ticket I have at home to get ideas on how to
present my ticket.
The information I collect does not have to be pertinent to my event
because I can just use the layout of the collected resources and edit
it to suit the theme of the event I am choosing. From my hand written
Free parking is available at the Von's right across the hospital, you will just need to print out the flyer and put it in the dashboard of your car.
This is a scenario that is becoming more apparent. In upcoming news the rock and roll band U2 has launched a world wide tour and they plan to come here to Tempe to play Sun Devil Stadium in the beginning weeks of May 97. The political group Rage Against The Machine will also be opening for U2. I am a fan of both of these bands so I looked into getting tickets for the show. I have found some shocking results as far as tickets go as well as tickets for other bands. For the U2 shows it can cost up to $61.60 for ONE ticket. “Thanks in part to eye-popping Ticketmaster telephone service fees of $8.35 per ticket, a set of tickets for U2’s May 31 show at New Jersey’s Giant’s Stadium cost a fan $246.40 for four tickets”(Boehlert 25). As a freshman in college on a tight budget it is extremely difficult for myself to pay that much money for one ticket with a $8.35 surcharge. I am sure that many people can empathize with not wanting to see some of your favorite music at such a high price. Why must the surcharges be so high?

Any agency that uses children for marketing schemes spend hundreds of billions dollars each year world wide persuading and manipulating consumer’s lifestyles that lead to overindulgence and squandering. Three articles uncover a social problem that advertising companies need to report about. In his research piece “Kid Kustomers” Eric Schlosser considers the reasons for the number of parents that allow their children to consume such harmful foods such as ‘McDonalds’. McDonalds is food that is meant to be fast and not meant to be a regular diet. Advertising exploits children’s needs for the wealth of their enterprise, creating false solutions, covering facts about their food and deceiving children’s insecurities. It contains dissatisfaction that leads to over consumption. Children are particularly vulnerable to this sort of manipulation, American Psychological Association article, “Youth Oriented Advertising” reveals the facts upon the statics on consumers in the food industries. The relationship that encourages young children to adapt towards food marketing schemes, make them more vulnerable to other schemes, such as, advertising towards clothing, toys and cars. Article writer of “The relationship between cartoon trade character recognition and attitude toward product category in young children”, Richard Mizerski, discusses a sample that was given to children ages three to six years old, about how advertising incurs young children that are attracted too certain objects or products on the market.

The poster originated in Britain in 1939, months before the Second World War began. It was created to help motivate and boost the morale of the citizens of Britain at that time. After the First World War, the British public was afraid of what the second war’s aftermath would leave behind. Therefore, the Ministry of Information came up with the idea to make a poster to keep its citizens calm and composed. The crown on top of the poster is called a “Tudor”; a symbolic crown of King George VI. It was a commonly used symbol of the government. There is no record of who originally came up with the idea of the poster. During the time of its release, it was never officially seen by the public and most of the posters created were destroyed. This poster in particular was one of three posters created for this time period but this one made a lasting impression.
The group needs to contact potential sponsors, comparable to clients that groups at other universities have had success with. Since the shelf life of calendars is very low the team should blitz through booths at the homecoming game and the union, and through flyers, since flyers are published daily and comparable unit variable costs (.025 vs. .023).
You have decided on a location, and now it is time to make a list of the people who will be attending. Make a list of everyone you want to attend and do not forget their family members who may come with them. You may want to allow everyone to bring a friend if they are single, or you suspect they will come alone. Fill out your invitations and get them in the mail at least two weeks before your event. Now you are ready to get down to the details of the part...
There are those who content that advertisements in schools can be a unprecedented way for schools to raise their funds, their detractors, however, argue that the it can be detrimental to children as captive audiences. To my way of thinking, I agree with the latter contention profoundly.
Marketing can play a crucial role in searching and discovering efforts and for identifying new markets to promote an event. It should include other classic elements and marketing such as promotional campaigns, advertising and telemarketing to bring all of the event goals to life.
Event marketing is defined as the "practice of promoting the interests of an organization and its brands by associating the organization with a specific activity" (Close, Finney, Lacey and Sneath, 2006). Firms use event marketing to achieve a variety of goals due to its distinctiveness, through consumer interactions. Brand awareness, sales, and image enhancement are the common reasons for participating in events. Firms investing in event marketing have the means through which they may create a hands-on experience for their target market (Sneath, Finney, and Close, 2005).
Advertising has had a powerful impact on today’s children. From songs, to logos. to characters, advertisers keep in mind their audiences. Competition is the force which causes advertisers to target children. Children are targeted through the catch phrases. animated characters, and toys in these competitive advertisements.
