Adult learners in college have more difficulty succeeding in school because they haven’t been in school for a while, college is less difficult for someone who just graduated from high school. Much attention has been given to exploration of adult learners since the term andragogy was first used by Kapp in 1833 (Kimmel 73) and coined by Knowles in describing self-directed learning (Kimmel, 73). Most adults over the age of 25 enroll in a four year college so that they can get use to being back at school and it assist them better when it comes time for an assignment to be due at a certain time most schools offer programs that can make college less stressful for adults. The study includes nontraditional students (age 25 and over) enrolled in four-year colleges offering programs designed for working adults (Kimmel 73).
Online programs can give adult s time to get all there other responsibilities done and it also leaves time to get your assignment’s out the way before there do so you can have free time, a student that has just graduated from high school is most likely to procrastinate with an online class then adult because younger students would do activities like hanging out with friends, drinking and partying and complete incomplete assignments and

Adults care more about their career then the younger generation, the younger generation have more of a tendency of taking life for granted. The historical case made for distance education relied heavily on the major differences of the adult learner: older, more self-reliant, already working full-time, juggling and balancing work, family, and study, unhappy with classroom seat time and commuting, impatient often with the abstract and the theoretical, et cetera (Kimmel
The questions of “Who has homework?” and “Is it done?” have changed quite dramatically in many households over the years. Many adult learners have enrolled in two-year community colleges in pursuit of undergraduate degrees. “Do ‘hard lives’ justify excessive absences, rewrite opportunities, late papers and/or plagiarized work?” After analyzing several different factors: the perceived differences of two-year and four-year students, the reasons some students choose a two-year college vs. a four-year college, and the expectations of the faculty members at these schools, the answer to this question is, “No.”

In his article, “Can You Be Education from a Distance?”, James Barszcz effectively weighs the pros and cons of online education compared to the traditional method, while effectively supporting his position with factual information and statistics. While distance education proves to be convenient for students, Barszcz asserts that it eliminates valuable experiences necessary in order to get the most out of the material being learned.
According to current estimates approximately 75 percent of college students are now nontraditional students – older than 25, attending school part time, and having delayed entry or reentry into college for a variety of personal reasons. Post secondary education is needed by such students to develop their careers and to acquire new skills and knowledge in a global society where they are likely to have longer life spans than did workers in the past. This trend is not restricted to North America; it is a worldwide phenomenon.
ADULT STUDENT’S OBSTACLES AND OPTIONS 2 Adult Student’s Obstacles and Options Adults interested in completing their degree now have a way to reach their goals of higher education. If you look outside of the conventional college education path you will find today’s non-traditional student. It might be surprising to learn that age of the student is really not a factor. Age tends to correlate to the main characteristics that define the non-traditional student. Some of these “characteristics include: having dependents, working full time, online/distant learners, financially independent, enrolled part time” (Ross-Gordon, 2011, para 1).
In online learning, creating a comfortable electronic learning environment supportive of personal growth can be a particular challenge. Instructors meet this challenge by having learners get to know each other through introductions and brief descriptions of their experiences and interests (Kasworm, Rose, & Ross-Gordon, 2010). Digital online learning allows adults to learn via self-paced learning modules, multimedia case studies, simulations, video tutorials, and communications and assessment tools. As indicated by Kasworm (2010), adults are the largest age group to use online learning because of its convenience and flexibility. They are technologically proficient, self-confident, goal-oriented, and able to multitask, social, and good at working in groups (Kasworm et al., 2010, p. 29). Adult learning is cumulative, as we progress through life we attain more knowledge and dramatic life experiences often force us to stop and contemplate our thoughts about something (Merriam & Bierema, 2013, p.
There are many advantages to online learning, it affects the way people can learn. According to “Effects of Technology on Classrooms and Students”, “students have a greater willingness to write or work on computational skills”. “They say student like the immediate results of having online learning.” Another advantage is that students can learn at their own pace. With learning at their own pace they will be able to actually know the information well. If, they are in a regular classroom setting they may no...
• Flexibility Online programs allow students to do school work whenever they are available and from anywhere in the world. This makes things very convenient for people to also have time for their families, jobs, or other responsibilities. • Cost Some online programs are more inexpensive than attending a traditional program at a university or a community college.
Most of the time, a student cannot learn at their own pace of the subject because the teacher has a schedule and other students so that student can easily fall behind or not feel as if they are learning. Also, if a student misses a class due to an illness or some other sort of reason they will get behind in classes, while with online class the student can still work while sick or the class will not move on without them. Some schools do not offer some classes that students wish to take. For example, some schools may not present a language class that the pupil wishes to take but online they have a better chance of being able to take that

On the basis of andragogy the principles of adult learners integrate as: when there is a need felt by the learner, the continuous learning is usually take place in order to gain new or advancement of knowledge to practice in real time tasks effectively. Adult learners are self motivated, responsible, able to understand the expectation of competencies as learners to implement quality in performance. The past experience play the importance in self-identity to fill the gap with acquired knowledge to accomplish the task in satisfying organized manner with realization of current situation rather than matter of subject ("Awesome Chart on " Pedagogy Vs Andragogy " ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning," n.d.). Learning is considered
Online classes are time consuming like any other class, but time spent working on assignments can be broken down into smaller time increments. Online classes are also more flexible than traditional classes because they do not meet in person, giving students the advantage of making their own schedule for working on assignments that they can integrate into their personal life. Online students get to choose days and times that are convenient for them, and do it from the comfort of their own home. The first way traditional classes offer less flexibility is students have limited options for classes, they can only choose between day or evening classes. This is a lot less convenient for busy individuals.
Higher education, a pilot school education is now the main body of modern Distance Education, carried out from college, undergraduate to graduate students at different levels of education. Adult and vocational educations are to the form of distance education to carry out a certain advantage, because the time of modern distance education is the characteristics of flexibility for non-full-time adult students. However, efforts in th...

Those who disagree with me think that online learning allows a student to learn at their own pace. Students are able to take the time to understand and figure out problems with the resources that are provided. The convenience of learning in an environment that is conducive to that particular students learning is provided by the student. If the student feels comfortable they are more apt
