In the United States there are approximately 20,000 car accidents each and every day. However, most of the wreaks are minor and people don’t hear about them or they don’t know about them because they didn’t occur near them. I have seen a few accidents in my life, but I will always remember this one car crash even though it was small. I was on my way to my parents’ house to drop of my little sisters from school, I noticed that one of the lanes were really backed up. I knew that it wasn’t backed up when I had came down the road earlier, so something must have happened. When we got up to where the cars where it was a horrific sight. Commonly, vehicular collisions are considered a negative occurrence. Dave Eggers hints towards this mindset in his short story Accident. Plotted in the middle of an intersection in 2005, the story commences with the main character driving his automobile through the intersection and striking an older Camaro. The three teenagers in the Camaro are fine, but the main character notices all the damage he has done to their vehicle and he fears an unpleasant encounter with them. Dave Eggers uses irony throughout the situation to illustrate the main character’s relief. The characters’ involvement with the collision emphasizes Egger’s theme that no matter how unfortunate an incident, positivity can result.
In society, any accidents are perceived as negative outcomes illustrate a terrible ending that has taken place but in reality it can be perceived as something positive in the long run. By obstructing the 2005 Camaro and the three teens, it occurred that no one was injured and everything was calm. Accident by Dave Egger represents how a bad decision becomes a point of conflict and symbolism within the theme of the story.

Ave.”. “Hold it Down” by Gina Meyers describes a long narrative of the problem, a lack of control, impossibilities and frustration in everyday life, while “Accident, Mass. Ave.” presents a narrative of a problem, a moment of loss of control, aggression and frustration in a single moment that happen on a specific day. Similarly the poems are long and include long enjambed lines disturbed by few short and small lines. Contrasting the poems are ordered and structured very differently.

Nothing could prepare me for the news I received six years ago about the unexpected death of my close friend Joey. I will never forget the night he died. How I had been with him just minutes before, and how his death was totally unnecessary and preventable. A few weeks before Christmas in 2001, Joey, myself and a few of my other co-workers were closing down the local restaurant we worked at while attending Umass Lowell. It had been a busy night, and we didn't end up finishing work until 1am. Having worked all day, we were all extremely tired, and could not wait to go home. Most of us were staying in Lowell at the time, but Joey had chosen to commute to campus and therefore had to travel out to Reading. I remember saying goodbye to him and I remember telling him to drive safely. I never thought that would be the last time I would ever see him. I never thought that he wouldn't "drive safely," and I most certainly never entertained the thought that he was so tired that he would fall asleep while operating his vehicle. Joey died on Interstate 93, not too far from his residence. He fell asleep at the wheel and flipped his car. He died upon impact.
Fatal truck crashes are on the rise in Louisiana and across the United States, according to a new report from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. A few months ago, I was involved in my first car accident. I think it's pretty remarkable that this was my first accident, considering that I've been driving for almost thirty years. The accident itself was pretty traumatic. I was at a complete stop behind two cars that were turning left, when a large van traveling at about thirty-five mph rear-ended my car. I was fortunate to escape with only some large bruises and a very sore knee; however, the car didn't fare quite as well. What was more amazing than the accident itself were the actions of the young man who ran into my car. Instead of taking responsibility for his actions, he lied to the police and to his insurance company about the events that took place. His version was that he was driving behind me when I ran into the car in front of me, then bounced back into his van. Perhaps if he'd had more time he might have been able to concoct a more credible story, one that actually made sense. In the end, the police and his insurance company saw through his lies and everything was taken care of. But in the meantime, my car was towed away and I was left with no car. What's amazing to me is that he never got out of his van to see if anyone was injured, and he never apologized for smashing two cars and causing me the inconvenience of being without a car for five weeks while the damage was repaired.
Accident/incident reporting is a vital part of any safety program because it keeps upper management informed on the current safety conditions of the organization. It allows the Director of Safety to be able to conduct investigations in order to improve the safety culture of the airline. In addition to improving safety conditions within the organization, the safety department may also use the FAA’s Aviation Safety Information Analysis and Sharing System (ASIAS) to report safety issues which may help other organizations as well (Rodrigues & Cusick, 2012). Unintentional injuries is one of the leading cause of deaths and disability-adjusted life years (DALYS) worldwide. In addition, unintentional injuries is almost twice as those who died of lung cancer or HIV/AIDS. Unintentional injuries are “that subset of injuries for which there is no evidence of predetermined intent.” The unintentional injuries usually comes from road injury, poisoning, falls, fires, and drowning. In 2010, low and middle income suffer road injury. Drowning, fires, and falls had the same amount of death. Poisoning is only half of the amount of death from drowning, fires, and fall. Being in a car crash is not an experience you want to go through. Accidents often happen, they don’t happen by choice most of the time. Many people die each year due to car crashes. Accidents can be caused by multiple reasons most of which drivers are responsible of. From simple distractions like the phone to people driving under the influence accidents can occur. Today I will describe events that happened to me that made me feel thankful for being alive. The one car crash I was a part of that changed my life.
