Abortion is Never Justified
As a Roman Catholic Christian, I believe abortion is wrong in most
cases. Although in some cases abortion can be justified.
I believe abortion is the killing of an innocent child. This is not
just because I am a Roman Catholic, but because I have examined both
points of view and have found that the reasons for having an abortion
do not out weigh moral justification that abortion is right. In this
remaining part of this coursework, I will be examining the different
views on the topic of whether abortion is right or wrong and the
reasons behind the different views on abortion.
I believe that abortion is wrong up to a certain extent because God is
the creator of all human life and it is his decision when we are to
die or not. I believe that if someone takes away life in certain
cases, it is like 'playing God'. In the Bible, we are told several
times that God places a heavy value on human life. In the first book
of the Bible, Genesis, we are told we are 'made in the image of God'
this shows that ever since the beginning of time, God has valued human
life. In Jeremiah, we are told that before we are 'formed in the
womb', he 'knew us' and in Corinthians, that are bodies 'are the
temples of God'. Another reason why I feel abortion is wrong up to a
certain extent, is that in principle, in the Bible, the commandment
'thou shalt not kill' tells us it is a sin. As a Roman Catholic, I am
taught that life begins at conception. Therefore, to kill a foetus is
to kill a person.
On the other hand, some may suggest that abortion is right. Many
people that believe this, are normally non Christian or do not have ...

...e are two arguments which
have to be taken into consideration when deciding to carry out an
abortion. Finally I believe that if a child will endanger the life of
the existing mother, an abortion is justifiable as we must take care
of the present life. Even though some may say this is an evil, not
showing care and compassion for the living is also an evil. This world
is not perfect. Making the right choice is 'is sometimes the
acceptance of the lesser of two evils'.
In conclusion, in most cases abortion is not justifiable although
there can be some allowances in certain situations. Every man/woman
has his/her own mind. We must not condemn people but only advice them
of what to do. As a Christian, I do not accept the act of abortion
completely although, I can understand that other people have their own
views.
Abortion; as defined by Merriam-Webster dictionary is, “the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus. This is the definition of abortion of which I will be reviewing its ethical status. After Roe vs Wade, the supreme court simultaneously decided that women have the right of privacy under the 14th amendment; making it acceptable to abort a pregnancy within the first trimester (Vaughn 119). The main argument on abortion is really a debate on human life, and whether it has value from the moment of conception. Each and every human life is composed of intrinsic value, and has the right to live. Killing an innocent human being is wrong, and fetuses are innocent human beings;making it morally wrong and impermissible to abort a fetus (Vaughn 143).

Suppose there exists a country, referred to in this paper as Country X, where women are believed to be the inferior sex. As a result, women are not afforded the rights and freedoms their male counterparts enjoy. For instance, they have no control over the social, political, or economic sectors of their lives and receive a very limited education. A female resident of Country X finds herself pregnant with a healthy female fetus that she intends to abort, her reason being that she does not wish her daughter to have a life marked by such severe oppression. Drawing on the views of Rosalind Hursthouse regarding virtue ethics and abortion, and applying her ideas to the aforementioned scenario, we can assess how virtue theory would deliberate this particular moral problem. Hursthouse's theory, in application to this scenario, should stand up to criticism without weakening its application to morals. Abortion, when considered with the “right attitude” and carried out for good reason given the circumstances, can be the morally right action to take.
The biggest difference between us and all other creation is we are made in God’s image. Genesis 1:26
Abortion is Unethical The Center for Bioethical Reform states that on a lifetime average there will be one abortion per woman in the world. This makes abortion a very relevant point of ethical discussion. According to the World Resources Institute, there are about 3,155,945 females world-wide, and if you used crude mathematics to make a rough estimate you would have potentially 3,155,945 lost lives. We can no longer ignore issues with such impact.
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them,” Genesis 1:27.
It is almost unanimously agreed upon that the right to life is the most important and sacred right possessed by human beings. With this being said, it comes as no surprise that there are few issues that are more contentious than abortion. Some consider the process of abortion as immoral and consisting of the deprivation of one’s right to life. Others, on the opposite end of the spectrum, see abortion as a liberty and a simple exercise of the right to the freedom of choice.
There are many arguments surrounding the controversial topic of abortion, which for the purpose of this paper is taken to mean the intentional killing of a human fetus. On the one hand, I and many others argue that a fetus has the same right to life as an adult human and therefore abortion is immoral. On the other hand, others argue that this is not the case and that the fetus either doesn’t have the same right to life as an adult or that this right is of secondary importance to the rights of the mother. They therefore believe that abortion is not immoral.
"I am 17. One month ago, I had an abortion. My story is not tragic. No one made me get the abortion. It’s only my mother and me in the house. My father has never been in the picture. I broke the news to my mom, and she gave me every option and said whatever I chose, she would support me” (“Abortion Story”). October 3, 1973 was when abortion was legalized in all 50 states. Studies show that the abortion rate has dropped to the lowest point since becoming legal (Sandhya). That is a great statistic, but unfortunately, there are still women who continue to have abortions. Making abortion illegal in the United States (U.S.) is a necessary act. Abortion should be outlawed throughout all trimesters, not just the second and third. It should also be illegal due to the health risks that it could have on a woman's future, and a safe alternative women can choose instead. The last reason it should illegal if because of the fact that it could be considered murder. Making abortion illegal is the necessary act.
Do you believe in a higher being? Well, I do and I believe that God made everyone in this world to live, and he made us all for a reason. You never know what that child could do, because you never even gave them a chance to live. Also, not only would it hurt the child, it would hurt you. Think about all the depression you could go through later on just thinking about the poor choice you made earlier in your life. Abortion is wrong because everyone is human and deserves a chance to live, everyone’s lives matter, and God made us for a reason.
A: Genesis 1:26 "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:"(1)
Abortions have always been a very controversial topic. Recently, it has even become a very polarizing topic for many Americans. The topic of my research paper will be an in depth discussion of the morality and legality of abortions. The stance I will be taking on this issue is that abortion is morally permissible thus it should be legalized within the United States. In my argument, I will be engaging with Thompson and Marquis’ papers and some other resources.
Abortion is the deliberate termination of human pregnancy resulting in the expulsion of the human fetus. Infanticide is the crime of killing a child within a year of birth. Abortion is legal in all states of America while infanticide is illegal, because it is considered an act of murder. Murder as defined by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, is the crime of one person unlawfully killing another person. Murder is always seen as morally wrong. In America’s current society infanticide is considered immoral always because it constitutes as murder while abortion is debatable and accepted by many. Before determining whether abortion or infanticide is morally permissible or impermissible one must determine what renders something of being a person. As the definition stated, murder is when a “person” is killed by another person. Would it still be considered murder if something was not fully a person. This paper will discuss the question of the morality of
