Abercrombie & Fitch is an American company founded in 1892 and is based out of New Albany, Ohio. Abercrombie has offered a wide variety of products ever since they were introduced, and although they are recognized worldwide now, their beginnings were not so sweet. Before becoming the specialty apparel retailer it is today Abercrombie had experienced bankruptcy in 1976 before former Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Leslie Wexner, handed the company over to the current CEO, Michael Jeffries. Abercrombie & Fitch’s target market are young adults aged 18-22 and offers a number of items such as jeans, dress shirts, shorts, and fragrances for both men and women. Abercrombie defines their products as “casual luxury” and are known to be high quality.

People either love Walmart because of this approach to keeping prices down or hate it due to the effects it has on the economy. Walmart is viewed as an enormous firm that does not take care of its employees because of its minimum wage, treatment of its employees, and how it deals with lawsuits.
Introduction In the past several decades the clothing industry has soared, especially the teen and young adult clothing sectors. One major company that we have all heard about is Abercrombie & Fitch. Abercrombie and Fitch originated in 1891 as a sporting goods store in New York City. They sold expensive and exotic items in stores that were located in large cities or resort areas (Britannica).
A luxury good is something that, as ones income increases; the demand for an item or service also increases at a higher than proportional level, in contrast to necessity goods, in which demand increases proportionally with a decrease in income (Varian, 1992). Generally, luxury goods are seen as those at the highest end of the market, in terms of price and quality. Haute Couture clothing, accessories and luggage are considered to be classic luxury goods, although many markets have a luxury sector, for example Automobile, Bottled Water, Coffee, Foods, Jewellery, Sound Systems (HiFi), Tea, Watches, Wine and Yacht.

Thomas had studied the art of drapery prior to launching his own company. The president at that time postponed the brand as a casual apparel retailer with mid-priced merchandise that was labelled with the Abercrombie &Fitch Logo (Krishnan et al. 2013). Michael Jeffries, current president of Abercrombie & Fitch Co. saw the potential in the American teen retail and focused on getting the companies products on fashionable preppy clothing at a high- street price point. They also began a magazine called A&F Quarterly, which acted as a catalogue and supported their merchandise.
