Congratulations on your Eagle Scout! It takes a supportive and involved family to achieve that rank. Cole and I park cars at LSU home games and have met a few people from other troops, but so far, you are the first person we have met from Troop 65. Some adult men that I respect are Eagles and give their Boy Scout experience high praise for many life lessons. Hopefully, scouting will "balance" out Cole's life experience of being raised by women and give him practical life skills.
Being nominated for National Junior Honor Society is a highly prestigious honor, and I am very grateful to be a candidate. To be a member of this prestigious organization means so much to me just to be invited to be one of its members. Leadership is a great skill to have. So, by being a member of this group I would be showing leadership. I am also a hard worker and a great role model who always helps others. I am confident in my leadership qualities and want to help the community. I plan to demonstrate leadership, create enthusiasm, and develop character for academic excellence while participating in NJHS. Whenever I set a goal, I am certain to achieve it. With my outstanding personality and traits, I plan to be useful to NJHS and my school.
As a student at Northvale Public School, I have grown up with my older siblings being inducted into an organization called the National Junior Honor Society. I had seen all the hard work and dedication they put into their school work and activities just to get into this society, making me want to be just like them. Then a few weeks ago, I found a note on my desk in homeroom telling me that I had been nominated to be apart of this society. Through citizenship and character, leadership, and service, I intend on being inducted into the society I have heard so much about. Though it will take a lot of effort this school year, being a part of this society is a dream of mine that I will make sure to come true.
As an Eagle Scout candidate, my ambition is to serve others while pursuing a life of prosperity, happiness, and leadership, whether it is through education, religious duties, scouting, or careers. My life purpose is to be seen as a model or leader to others while remaining satisfied with my current situations in life. I resolve to stay resilient through any obstacles thrown in my path to achieve my ambitions and life purpose. I will strive to be respected by those that know me in all of the things I participated through leading from behind (following the principles of servile leadership) and applying all that I have learned over the years in Scouts and my life in general.
Young soldiers need to learn to live the Army values, which are loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage. If these values can be instilled in us then we will have everything we need to make an excellent soldier but also a great person. These values also come into play when you are sent downrange because you want to have good fellow soldiers who will always have your back know matter what the situation you find yourself in. The army values also define our character traits as a person and they teach us discipline. The Army Values are a big part of our lives us young soldiers need to learn how to maintain them.
In the beginning of the book Scout viewed the world in a very childish way. She thought that everything is fair and perfect and that nothing can go wrong. Scout played very childish games and didn't understand what things meant. For example she tried to get Boo Radley to come out because she thought that he was a monster. She didn't know that he just wanted to be alone. She also didn't explain her way of thinking and thought that everyone knew what she was talking about. For example she told Miss. Caroline that Walter was a Cunningham and she thought by just saying that, Miss. Caroline should have known what she meant. Scout saw the world as a play place so she took nothing serious.
Scout is very knowledgeable about the way Maycomb works, which she shows a lot when she is at school. Scout showed more observance when she takes note of how Hitler’s crusade in Germany compares to her small town. Lastly, Scout has a keen eye when recalling details about her father that perhaps weren't for Scout to notice, like his sickliness.
In the United States Army, there are two categories of rank structure, the enlisted corps and the commissioned corps. The enlisted corps within itself contains leaders, who are referred to as Noncommissioned Officers, or NCOs. These individuals, whose ranks range from Sergeant to Sergeant Major, are responsible for implementing the guidance and command policies provided by the Commissioned Officers and commanders in their units. NCOs are also responsible for the welfare and training of junior personnel. The US Army provides regulations and manuals with step-by-step guidance for the most trivial of tasks, but it fails to spell out specific and concrete information on how to be an NCO.
Respect is probably the most important trait that needs to be shown towards your superiors. Every Armed forces branch in the United States of America has a chain of command in which respect is the main premise behind the entire organization. Respect backs the ideals and leadership within any chain of command. Respect is important in the design of the military system itself. You have to automatically trust and do what higher ranking cadet, or any cadre member says because they hold power and most likely have more experience then you. You must show them respect to because they have more knowledge and know how, not to mention they have earned the stop they are in. Respect also tires into the worrier’s ethos, which is an important aspect of what it means to be a member of the army.
She has a mature mindset that most adults in Maycomb do not nearly posses, an understanding about change needing to occur in society, and most importantly how to treat others fairly regardless of race, social class, or gender. Additionally, Scout learns to see things from other people's perspective which plays an important part in her moral development. By seeing others people’s viewpoints, as best said by Rudyard Kipling in If, “If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, and make allowance for their doubting
Overall, Scouts intelligence and courage is what kept her character unique in the novel. It displayed how different she was from other children, and that was how she became so special and important to the readers. Ultimately, her transformation only brought out these traits more and more, and made her understand when and where to use
Early on in the book, Scout is introduced as a tomboy with little disrespect. A good example of the amount of disrespect she has for people is when Walter Cunningham is invited over for dinner. She says that “[Walter] ain’t [sic]
Everything Scout does may not be out of love or hate, but what stays a constant is her compassion for everything and everyone. In the story Walter Cunningham “ruins” Scouts day at school so she tackles him to the ground, after consulting with Jem she feels bad and wants to show that she didn’t mean to lose her temper by offering a gesture of good faith, “Come on home to dinner with us, Walter.”(Lee 30). Scout means well but she lets her feelings get the best of her and she makes quick decisions without considering the consequences of her actions, but it is also true that she has been raised to be respectful and honest so when she makes a mistake she recognizes it and fixes what’s wrong. Scout’s compassion throughout the story is very important to her character and what she represents in
Lastly, the chaplain aide would lead the troop on devotions every Sunday morning. He would also bless the food and pray before we went on the trip. All of these leadership positions that I had to be in to become an Eagle Scout taught me many lessons that will help me not only help me in scouts, but also help me outside of scouts. For instance, when we have a group project in school it always helps to have a group leader. This also carries into sports too. Sports teams need leaders in the locker room and on the field to keep people in line and make sure they are doing right. That is how being a Boy Scout and becoming an Eagle Scout has had an effect on my
