Christianity is one of the oldest religions in the world, full of symbolism and historical figures that have caught the attention of many groups of people. Jesus Christ is the most talked about and most analyzed person from the Christian Bible, however, Mary has also been the topic of conversation for many, many time periods. She was once regarded as just the mother of Jesus, but as time went on and people began to look at her role in Christianity as a whole, she began to take on other roles including Mother of God, Mediatrix, and even Mother of all Christians. It is important for all Christians to analyze the origins of ideas in order to best understand how Biblical figures came to be known as the way we understand them to be today. Thus is the case with Mary. By tracing the understanding of Mary from the beginning of Christianity to today’s current society, we can better connect with past cultures and ideas.
When Christianity was first started, believers were focused on the martyrs around them who were dying for their newly found Christian beliefs. Once people saw the impact that Christianity had on its followers, they began to pay more attention to the Bible, more particularly to the New Testament and the roles of Jesus and Mary. There were not many things known about Mary except what was said in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John about her life, which were very few in detail. According to Miri Rubin, a medieval historian and professor of Early Modern History at Queen Mary, University of London, the reason the gospels did not offer many details about Mary’s early life was because “their aim was rather to introduce Jesus, and so Mary enters the frame as a maiden about to receive the Annunciation.” Mary is never ment...

...astically as the times went along. At first, people didn’t pay much attention to who she was because there weren’t many details given about her, but once people began to question the divinity and humanistic qualities of Jesus, they realized they had to also ask who Mary really was. In answering that Jesus is a divine-being with human-like qualities born from a human, the answer that Mary was the Mother of God followed. Mary was associated with nurturing, and caring motherly qualities and people honored these qualities in her. Honoring her became a normal thing to do in Christianity with the adaptations in art, the creation of shrines, and the prayers created and said. People were able to better connect with their religion through better understanding of not only Jesus, but the woman who gave us the savior of the world, Mary, Queen of Heaven and Virgin Mother of God.
Mary adds a religious element to her over all characterization. When she wore plain garments

“We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, the only Son of God. For us and for our salvation He came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became truly human. Being fully God and perfect man He performed miracles and lived a sinless life.” (GCU, Doctorial Statement) This paper will discuss how God and Jesus Christ is the essential core of all Christian worldviews despite the many differing internal worldviews they have.
There was a Roman and Jewish trial. The Roman trial was because Jesus did not pay taxes to Caesar. and for being a “troublemaker” in Luke’s gospel. The Jewish trial was because Jesus called himself the Messiah. Yet with everything Mary stuck by his side. That puts a theory in everyone’s mind that she loved him very much. Mary was an important figure at the cross. Mary was among a few women who wept seeing Jesus suffer and die. In John’s gospel particularly in 19:25 “standing by the cross of Jesus were His mother, and His mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene”(Bible Verses: Mary Magdalene in Scripture). Mark’s gospel says that Mary was in the distance with the other women.
Mary was the daughter of King Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon, (Master) “Mary I Queen of England” states that Mary was “the only child born to Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon to survive childhood.” Mary grew up as the center of attention for many many years and had a very good childhood as the young princess. although her childhood was good, her parents did get a divorce declaring her as a bastard child, taking away her royal title as princess. That didn't stop her though, she did restore her title and became the first queen of inheritance ever. (Master) Protestant propaganda has slandered the name of Mary, giving her the terrifying and misleading nickname “Bloody Mary”.

In the early stages of Catherine's life the surfacing modern age was bringing with it social turmoil which spread throughout Europe (Giordani 3). During Catherine's lifetime, according to Mary Ann Sullivan in her essay “St. Catherine of Siena,” the center of Catholic rule fluctuated between Rome and Avignon and contributed to a schism between popes in Italy and France (1). Catherine was born 23rd in a line of 25 children and, according to Sullivan “even at a young age, [she] sensed the troubled society around her and wanted to help” (1). While her parents were not exceptionally religious, St. Catherine's biographer Blessed Raymond of Capua discusses Catherine's early zeal for Catholic practices: “When she was about five she learned the Hail Mary, and repeated it over and over again as often as she could…she was inspired by heaven to address the Blessed Virgin in this way whenever she went up and down stairs, stopping to kneel on each step as she did so” (24). Her devotion to the Virgin Mary would become especially important in a vision she had around this time while walking with her brother to visit one of her sisters.
Mary went on to re-implement the Catholic faith in England, however not the Catholic faith before her father broke with Rome. Mary was attempting to go along with the Counter Reformation happening on the continent. This showed great th...
They were women of God, and they were very important in the development of Gods image, and well as playing significant roles in Jesus’ life and mission. Women contributed to the movement, and the experienced belonging to his community just as much as the men. However, some may view the presence of women in the bible as a negative thing. Elizabeth Cady Scanton said that the bible can be used to exclude women from the public sphere. The Bible promotes marriage and childbirth as the most important things for a woman to do, as these things would make the woman stay home and create a better environment for her husband. The images of women in the bible, however, can help women connect to God more intimately and see themselves as an image of God. Women were included in the first followers of Jesus, and he treated them as equals.Women were seen as ministers, opened their home to the less fortunate, and even witnessed Jesus’ resurrection. Since it’s beginning, women had roles of power in Christianity. Women gave birth to the men of the Lord, but only if they were women of the

Mary is a perfect influence for us here on earth, as well as Jesus and many other people in bible stories. In fact, there are many bad influences, yes, but if you get yourself with the right people, you may have nothing, but great
The Church continues to cover up the marriage due to the possible accusation of being usurpers. It was Peter, not Mary Magdalene, who continued the Church in Jesus’ name. The Catholic Church’s role as the arbiters of biblical truth would be endangered if they were supposed to follow the lead of a woman, considering their historical oppression of women. The recognition of Mary Magdalene’s true identity would be a critical gain for women but a loss for Jesus’ divinity.
Later in the story, the narrator builds the theme of religion by indirectly revealing a strong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. This devotion is taken t...

As mentioned earlier, the Virgin Mary is one of the most important figures in the Catholic Church, Mary herself being the mother of the entire, universal Catholic Church. It is stated in the Bible that, “Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, ‘Woman, here is your son,’ and to the disciple, ‘Here is your mother.’ From that time on, this disciple took her into his home” (John 19:25-27). This devotion to the Virgin Mary is special and different than that of any other figurehead in Catholicism, besides the Holy
