Luz's entire story I thought was significant. She is a lonely person who not willing to change her ways. She has a son and brother and wants nothing to do with either one of them. “Patterns are repeated behavioral or affective sequences” (Murphy p. 116). Luz’s has a disconnect from everyone in her life from her family, staff members and other clients at the retirement center. I don’t agree with Luz not speaking to her son because of whom he married, her son should be able to marry whomever he wants. You should not judge a person based on the color of their skin. Luz was racist which was the root of most of the problem. I would hope that Luz will change her mind and mend the relationship with her family. She talks with gestures and emphasize what she is saying. When speaking with Luz, she begins to cry and tells the Clinician that she is lonely. As Luz is talking, she looks around the room to let you know that she is unhappy with living in the retirement community center. When Luz speaks about her family, she has been disconnected from them for years, and she does not want to contact them.
