Alexandra was a girl of 5 feet 6 inches weighing about 128 pounds. All her life she wanted to be something. She wanted to make people stop what they were doing and turn to her while she danced. She wanted people to know her name for her amazing lines and gorgeous leaps. She wanted to be the one all little dancers looked up to like how they did towards the Misty Copeland or Anna Pavlova. Ever since Alexandra was a little girl, she dreamed about being able to jump as high as the clouds. But right now, Alexandra was just a 14 year old dedicating her teenage life to the lifestyle of a prima-ballerina. She spent her whole week at her studio taking classes from mid-afternoon to late night. To her, it was all worth it. She was hoping she could attend the Julliard summer program by the time she graduated high school.
“Alexandra, are you ready?” asked her sister, Dani. “I will be in the car in about 5 minutes.” Alexandra replied. As Dani drove her and her sister to the studio, she asked Alexandra “So what do you think we should do this summer. Mom was talking about going to North Carolina for a couple days and then maybe doing some fun things here.” “Well, I was thinking I was going to go to New York.” Alexandra said. “We go to New York all the time. Why do we have to go again Alexandra?” Alexandra took a breath then spoke, “Well I though since I’m turning 15 in a month, I could go for a few days and stay with Aunt Cheryl. Then in the day in could go to Broadway Dance Center and take some ballet classes. I think getting some outside training other than the studio is the best thing for me if I want to pursue my life as a ballerina.” “Mom is never going to let you go to New York alone Alexandra even if you are with Aunt Cheryl. She’ll be to...

...t in mind!” Addison yelled out. Alexandra could usually hit about 7 turns, but the intimidation of all these dancers hitting about 10.
At the end of the week, Alexandra went over to Addison and thanked her. “I really appreciate these classes this week. I’m from Baton Rouge and we don’t have things like this there, so coming here was a really big opportunity.” Alexandra said. “Oh you are so welcomed. You are very good. But I feel like you started to hold back towards the end of the week.” “Yeah, I think so. I think I was just intimidated by all the prima-ballerinas in the room. I always wanted to be a professional ballerina.” replied Alexandra. Finally Addison said, “I commend you for your large goals, Alexandra. But keep working hard. You are just like me. But one day you’re going to find yourself success. You’re going to go far, Alexandra. Don’t doubt yourself.”
