All in all, I could remember I wanted to be a veterinarian. I had been responsible for the feeding and care of the family household pets ever since I was in the first grade. It was set in my heart to provide love and a nurturing environment for the animals that I so deeply loved. After a few years of research, I realized that I wanted to change the lives of people instead.I believe that I am destined to work in a field relative to helping people feel more confident in themselves. My career goal is to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or Chemistry in order to start my path to becoming a Dental Hygienist. I come from a little town in Roxboro, North Carolina, where my brother and I survived off of my mother’s disability check every month. In 2009, my mother encountered a work accident that rendered her disability. She spent several months in the hospital and tons of bills began to pile up. After coming out of the hospital, things began to deteriorate. We moved seven times within a three year time period. Stress became a huge factor in our lives, even causing some …show more content…
The best option for me was to move in with my father where I knew things would be a lot better. My father graduated from Shaw University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Management and is now working on his Masters. He graduated with Honors and was recognized for his hard work as a Magna Cum Laude student. Being his only child, I appreciate everything that he does and will continue to do for me. He pushes me to my full potential and is my biggest supporter. Unfortunately, college funds aren’t entirely sufficient on a teacher’s.salary. My father currently serves as a ISS Coordinator/ Teacher at a high school in the Orange County School Systems. Teachers in North Carolina don’t get paid as much as other states, which is why I am doing everything that I can to make going to college possible for
When I was little my teachers would ask me “Cora, What do you want to be when you grow up”? In reality, I couldn’t make up my mind on what I wanted to be ‘when I grew up’. When I was around seven, I went from wanting to be a Veterinarian to being an Astronaut, then back to a Veterinarian again. Around age 10, I wanted to be a dentist, even though I hate mouths. Then I wanted to be a Veterinarian again. Junior Year of high school came and when we started to research colleges and careers I heard that Premed programs were so hard to get into, and I wasn’t fooling anyone with my grades. I did some research on Veterinarians and I discovered that the Veterinarians don’t really handle the animals like I thought they did. Then I learned about Veterinary Technicians, they do so much with the animals. I
I want to be a nurse, specifically a nurse practitioner. I have always been fascinated with the medical field and see a bright future in it for me. I have the opportunity of meeting new people every day with a variety of personalities. There is always something new to discover in this field. A nurse practitioner's job is to be able to diagnose and treat illnesses. They also prescribe medicine and run physical exams. I am highly interested in pursuing the career of a nurse practitioner because the healthcare field is always in need for medical professionals, it pays well, and I am helping people at the same time.
Growing up I had always been asked the infamous question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?", and my answer had always been a shrug or a simple "I don 't know yet". If I was asked the same question now, I could confidently and very passionately say, "I want to be a doctor; a humanitarian who brings positive change in someone 's life.". It seems like a very general statement but I truly hope to one day become somebody who can use her expertise and profession to help others.
“Never underestimate your own strength. You were born for a purpose and are blessed with the power to achieve it” (Leon Brown). I have this quote printed out and on the wall next to my door so I can see it every day as a reminder to myself. I believe that we all have a purpose on this earth and that everything we go through on the journey there has a reason whether to teach a lesson or set an example. We have places where we want to end up and goals we want to achieve. We set these goals and dreams to help us fulfill the purpose we see for ourselves. I believe my purpose is to help people in their times of need. To fulfill my purpose, I will need to use my personal, academic and career goals to create a pathway to get to where I want to be

I basically have been surviving off of my financial aid and babysitting jobs. In doing this, I have gotten really good at budgeting my money and actually not spend it on things I do not need. I live in my parents’ home for free and I help with bills when I am able to. When I made the decision to go back to school I knew there would be challenges, but I have a roof over my head and food to eat and I am grateful. At times it is not easy living here, especially when your younger brother also lives here and does not work, or contributes to household chores. It got really hard last year when my mom lost her job and was unable to find work for a while so the bills were piling up every month. She faced foreclosure on the house and I think we had our lights disconnected a couple of times. But somehow we always manage to pull through hard times like that. Some days to save money on gas, I will stay at my boyfriend’s house since he just lives and works right down the road from MCC. I also will stay the night at my brother’s house since he lives right on campus. It is so easy to just wake up and walk to school and it saves me so much money. Thank goodness for those two guys, if it was not for them I probably would have stopped going to school. I feel like small generosities like that, help keep me

As I am preparing for a new chapter in my life, I have put a lot thought in about what I want out of life and what to look forward to as I get older. In order for one to achieve anything, they need to set goals to reach for. I have a handful of goals for my future, short term and long term, that I will actively work towards in my college years and beyond. In my time at UW Eau Claire, I plan to be involved and engaged in student activities on campus. Being active will help me meet new people, build a better resume, and have fun at college. At UWEC, I would like to get involved in anything musical, along with various clubs and Greek life. Similarly, another goal of mine is to have a job on campus. Having a job will not only help me make some
All your life growing up, you don 't have to make any big decisions. This all changes senior year when you have to make a decision about what you are going to do with your life after high school. What you choose to do can dictate how you spend your time and money. If you do not make a choice you will not be able to move on towards being a self supporting adult. Decisions are hard to make but essential to keep moving forward.
What is my personal purpose? Is a question that I have never thought to ask myself until recently. Then when I started learning more about a personal purpose I started wondering if I have one and what it was. I never thought of myself has having a real purpose until a watched an interview Will Smith had did and he had said “When your life means something to someone other than yourself than you have a purpose.” That is when I realized that I have a purpose. My purpose is that I am the hug that let others know it is going to be ok. My dream career would be: Becoming a nurse. Nurses help people in many different ways. They work at a fast, but focused pace; work side by side with Doctors and surgeons. Nursing has been a dream of mine for many years. There are many different kinds of nurses. The nurse I would strictly want to become is a nurse specialized in geriatrics, taking care of people with dementia. To work in this field you have to have an understanding of what is all involved. To be able to understand all aspects of the different kinds

Life contains an unlimited amount of life lessons; my main life lesson has inspired me to never give up on myself or my goals. Through my life experiences I have learned that there is no such thing as failure. I am certain with myself that I can find success through hard work and dedication. My career aspiration is to help others as a healthcare professional. More specifically, I have a dream of pursuing a career in physical therapy. Nothing gives me more self-satisfaction than to see that I am able to help people self-improve. Therefore, I have committed to studying and preparing myself for graduate school. I am currently an Undergraduate student at the University of Central Florida, destined to graduate in the Fall of 2017. There are multiple Undergraduate degree paths I can take to prepare myself for grad-school; however, I chose a path that can help me develop skills to provide the best possible service for my future patients. I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences
It has been my craving in every aspect of life to do things differently, chart my own path and tread in to uncharted territory. Nine years back, this what made me join a course in bachelor of marine engineering at MERI, the only institute in India exclusively offering such a course. Idea of venturing in to high sees, braving the storms with only handful of resources and almost completely cut off from out side world made adrenaline pumping in to my veins. All this along with opportunity to get exposure to highly sophisticated systems on board ships, which was fodder for my technical bent of mind seemed perfect for my adventure seeking personality. Through out my career progression I have made such decisions like joining LNG shipping pool of my company and seeking extra professional qualification of eligibility to sail on diesel engine driven as well as turbine driven ships
