Ever since I was little I have seen for myself the difference a college degree can make in the lives of people. People with a college degree have better opportunities in life than people without a college degree. A college degree can secure for the individual job opportunities, appointment in public and civil service, accessing essential information to tap into the untap resources in their environment which can result to wealth creation, financial freedom, contributing greatly to the society, better standard of living, and so on. There have always been two careers that have sparked my interest and that I’ve wanted to pursue. The first career is pastoring, which I got as a call from God. I greatly enjoy working in God’s vineyard. The lives
of people like John Wesley, A.W. Tozer, Billy Graham and other great servants of God have greatly inspired me to pursue rigorously my spiritual quest. I see this career as the best service I can render for the good God who gave me the opportunity to be alive. My second career choice is to become an online digital literacy educator. I love the way my knowledge of ICT and efficiency in the use of computer and the internet has helped to simplify my life. There are millions of people around me who are yet to receive basic digital literacy in the use of computers and internet in this era of hyper technology. I desire greatly to receive a college degree in computer science so that I will have the right information and exposure to be able to educate millions of people especially in Africa and Asia who are technologically disadvantaged. Besides, many of the teachers I’ve had in the past have made it quite clear that their job is rewarding and interesting. My one goal in life is to just find something that I would love to do for the rest of my life and stick with it, and that would definitely be accomplished if I went into the education field. I love working with people and could absolutely see myself as being a teacher. Bachelor degree is one major course offered in University of the People. The tuition free program makes it affordable for someone like me living in a country (Nigeria) engulfed in economic recession. The online program is very suitable for me because I may never have the time to attend regular school because of other commitments. Fulfilling both of my career choice requires a college degree. I need to be adequately informed so that I can pass the right information to others either as a pastor of a church or as an online digital literacy educator.
