Los Angeles is my goal place to be when I graduate from high school. The weather, the amount of people in the city, the diversity of culture and types of people, the numerous amount of different opportunities, the famous landmarks, beaches, and so much more intrigue me. I chose the University of Southern California for my college research project. USC is located in Los Angeles and their campus looks really lovely which is a reason as to why I would like to possibly go to that university. Many people shoot for UCLA, it is one my list of colleges to go to, but not my first because many people strive to go there and I don’t usually like going somewhere where many people usually choose to go. There are many different programs, activities, and clubs you can join and participate in and I absolutely love communicating with new people and try new activities.
Being in Upward Bound has been my greatest privilege and source of motivation. Ms. Norma, the director, has helped me grow tremendously throughout these years and she has been one of my greatest role models. During my summers in LMU, my UB peers and I were put in positions where we had to work together to solve many problems. Activities like these helped me become better at working alongside others and take the lead when needed. This mental training influenced me to become active in school by joining clubs and taking leadership positions. I learned a lot about myself by being participating in these

Imagine a school for students who are not ready to dive into a four year university head first. What would it be like? The school would have easier classes and a lower tuition to assist the transition. That would be nice, and that is exactly what community colleges have tried to do since 1948. People flooded into the new colleges, and since then, the amount of community colleges around the United States has exceeded 1,655 (“Facts”). Though over the past few years, community colleges have faced a problem. On average, the graduation rate at most colleges is around thirty percent, so what has gone wrong? The original

The skills that I have now, I plan to use them in college to better myself and develop new improved skills along the way, As well as for my talents. The experiences that I have had, I plan to take in those as well so I know what is almost expected when I get to college. When I go to college I want to be better than I am in high school and work much harder because I know college won’t be easy at all. I plan to take my skills, and experiences that I have obtained to the college campus.
Over the years, college tuition has become such a taboo topic in today’s families. The unavoidable question always rises: how does one pay for such an extreme amount? Even worse, who is responsible for paying it? This controversial topic has seized many conversations for students already stressing about college preparation. Typically, students expect their parents to take on the financial burden. Katharine Butler Hathaway once said, “A person needs at intervals to separate from family and companions and go to new places. One must go without familiars in order to be open to influences, to change.” In doing this, I broadened my horizons and changed my outlook on life.
