To understand a person’s personal worldview, one must begin by acknowledging their overall perspective of how they see the world. This is often a complicated answer, really more of a compilation of beliefs about the life they live than just any one opinion of it. This leads to the sometimes difficult task of labeling one’s belief system. We collect ideas and theories throughout our lives from outside influences, from our families, schools, friends, and churches. Eventually, we come to a point when we begin to ask ourselves what it is we truly believe, not just what we were given to believe, but what our hearts and minds tells us is so. This is the precipice of our lives, the crossroads at which we stand. What we decide here can potentially …show more content…
Our hope is manifested through our faith. We are reminded in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." Christians believe God’s word is sacred, and God promised us that if we believed and followed Him, we would walk beside Him in the kingdom of heaven. Even though we know this, death can be an incredibly difficult thing to cope with, whether it is the knowledge of the inevitability of our own demise, or the immense fear and sadness that comes with the loss of a beloved family member. The article, “Taking the Sting out of Death: A Christian Educational Perspective,” discusses steps on how to alleviate these fears in people facing the prospect of death as Christianity defines it. It states to explain that there will be no more pain, no sickness, and no unanswered questions. It encourages us to help them to understand that while undoubtedly their families will mourn their loss, they will, at the same time, be happy for them as they will have achieved the promise which God has given them. In the case of the dying, strengthen them to be able to tell their families that they are ready to go and comfort them by telling them what their future holds in eternity with God. And Pray with them! Thank God for all they have meant to you; the things you have learned from them; the love that was shared; the …show more content…
To live without faith, such as in Naturalism, to me is like living an empty life of bleak despair, a nearly intolerable way to live. We Christians are so fortunate that we are extraordinarily blessed through our faith. Unlike Naturalistic believers, we are never truly alone on our journeys. We are guided with the helping and loving hand of Jesus, who walks us on the righteous path to His glory. When we look to our hearts and minds for answers, as we all do, we Christians are met with the knowledge that God loves us, and this motivates us to be good and worthy of His love. When we reach the precipice of our lives, those crossroads where we all must stand at one time or another, does anyone ever really want to be alone? Or be without love, without counsel or support, without hope? Those of us who have chosen hope, chosen faith, chosen God, have decided that our very existence is possible because of God. And since this is so, we know what kind of people we want to be in our lives. This is told to us in 1 John 2:6; “Whoever claims to live in Him must live as Jesus did.” We the faithful will live as Jesus lived, serving our fellow man in His name, for the good of us all, making our world a better place, for those who believe and even those who don’t. Because all things are possible with
We do not think about death and how it is going to affect other people in our life. When we do find out that we are dying, then we do not mourn our life, but the life we want. We want to be close to God, but we do not know how to be close to him. We try everything to get close.
What is a worldview? A worldview is an idea or thought that manifest in our brain but is originated from how we perceive and feel towards events that happen during our life. The opinions we express outwardly in action disseminates to others with whom we surround ourselves with, and vise versa. Collectively we take in worldviews and judge them to our own view, and settle on a conscious agreement to what we hold to be truth.
Many people would not believe that worldview would be involved in the topic of work, but it certainly is. Worldview stretches throughout almost every facet of our lives and is even an intricate part of work. Christian and secular viewpoints differ immensely when it comes to work. Many Christians believe that work is an intricate part of God’s plan for mankind while the secular viewpoint sees it as more of a personal, everyday activity the serves no more of a purpose that that of personal success. The secular worldview has distorted the context of work and only the Christian worldview can redeem it to its original context.
The essay, “A Christian World View,” by Mickenzie Neely seeks to address some major themes that pertain to a Christian worldview. The essay, in summary, states that “serving others, accepting and giving grace, sacrifice, and justice are all essential to living for Christ.” This essay was presented in a way in which she used facts and scriptures from the Bible to support her point. This paper will analysis Neely’s main arguments and will evaluate my opinion of her writing. The main topics that apply to my Christian worldview are love, service, grace and forgiving.
The Christian worldview is centered on the Gospel and places their beliefs in the essential teachings of the Trinity, the deity of Jesus Christ, and Jesus’ resurrection from the dead (DiVincenzo, 2015). This paper will explain who God is and what he created, what our purpose and nature is as humans, who Jesus was and what he did while on earth, how God plans to bring his people back into the right relationship with himself, and as a Christian how one is to live their life with an analysis of the Christian worldview.
"The purpose of developing a Christian view of the world is not merely to evaluate and judge the world, but to change it," (Boa, 2004). Having a Christian worldview is hard enough in American but add in the entire world and it can be a little trickier. Thinking Christianly has a major impact on how someone would do business overseas, in a global economy. When it comes to a Christian worldview in a global economy there are numerous issues that can come up. Different countries and cultures have different things that they deem acceptable; however, when you are looking at it from a Christian standpoint you may have to handle things in a different manner. Just because something is acceptable or legal in the world does not make it acceptable to someone with a Christian worldview. John 17:17 says that, "The word is truth," so when one is looking for direction and guidance in any aspect of business he will always know that the word of God is truth that he can turn to. Although the field of business has many negative connotations with Christianity there are also positive ones. There are two main issues that this paper will address. The first issue, pollution, can be view negatively. The second issue, job opportunities, can be view positively.
A worldview according to R. Albert Mohler Jr. “…recognizes that the only way cognizant, aware human beings can operate is in a complex of thought that does not require us to rethink everything all at once, all the time.” (Piper and Mathis 59). In other words, human beings hold to a set of assumptions which determine the decisions that they make. In a Christian worldview, these assumptions are, “…Christ centered and Biblically based” (Power Point 6) and may thus differ from a secular world view.
We really cannot be sure why God chose the specific time in history and the demographic locations he used to create the universe. It should not be a surprise as we read through Genesis it shows us the rich history of those many years ago and the disputes that are still arising today over religion and land in the Middle East. Religious disputes are still on the rise in these countries and with ease of travel to the United States many have been influenced by other theologies. This can cause confusion for many people, which is why it is important to read and understand the Bible. Genesis 1-11 lays the foundation for all biblical truth as is assumes God is the creator of all things. We know according to scripture that God wanted us to share in his creation and his glory. He chose to reveal himself in his way. These scriptures portray God as just, grace, love, wrath, and holy. This should be our beginning to our introduction of our Biblical Worldview. As broad as this term is it seems we should look at this as a standard of how we personally view our world, beliefs and matters of the heart. There are still such challenges between evolution and the biblical thought, science will view as all machines and we are not divine, we know only God is divine, we are humans with sin potential. People more and more today are searching for answers; they want answers to what happens after they are gone. Is God the real truth? Without richness for God in their heart, we can see why so many struggle and fall into self-hurt and other dependency issues. Will it be science or the Word of God one has to search their soul? This should n...
Christianity has been around for about 2000 years (The First Christianity, 2009). Even though it has been around for a long period of time, there is still are many people who question someone who has a Christian worldview. Some questions that come up are: Who is God? As humans what is our purpose in life? Who was Jesus? In this paper we will explore how an individual with a Christian worldview views God, humanity, Jesus and restoration.
I would like to explore one of the questions posed to us by Professor which is “How can we make the positive aspects of postmodernism work in our favor?” Or even more specifically, the positive and neutral elements of postmodernism, work in the favor of the Christian worldview and thought. We will start by first exploring the basic tenants of postmodernism and a brief history of where it has been and where it is currently, revealing multiple advantages for the Christian worldview in the engagement of a postmodern.
the gap that existed between man and God because of sin, has been bridged. His precious blood that was shed on the cross wiped away all our sins. Furthermore, the death of Christ means humanity received grace; “grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” According to John the Baptist in John 1:18, know one has set eyes on the Father, but through Jesus Christ, who is in close relation with God the Father, has made Him known.
Recognition of a person’s worldview can be found based on one’s answer to several reality questions surrounding God (origin), human nature (identity), reality (meaning/purpose), after life (destiny), values (morality or ethics). My own definition of worldview is a set of beliefs about the most important issues in life and my reaction to them. While in agreement with Jeff Baldwin’s eyeglass concept, I choose to compare my Christian worldview to an internal navigation system. When I am lost and need to be found, Christ is omnipresent. He knows my location and guides me in another direction.
My personal worldview explains the way I view and live life through the assumptions and beliefs I hold in response to the world around me. I believe I was created for a specific reason and purpose.
Although we may not all see eye to eye, we all still have our own worldview. The central idea of a worldview is to be the different beliefs that is an understanding of how we see the world around us. It will be understood by how a person feels about different emotions and ideas that are encountered on a daily basis. A worldview is a response of our heart or inner being: our intellect, emotion and will. (Weider, Gutierrez,59) We create our own personal worldview based on things we believe are true and norms to society. A worldview perspective shapes, influences, and generally directs a person's entire life. (Samples 2007)
The Christian worldview has been question by many for years now. For many people, when it comes to God’s word and his creation of all living things they may have a difficult time talking about the subject. When a person puts their trust in Jesus, they will receive the gift of eternal life through the son of God that died for our sins and the restoration will begin for those after judgment Matt 25: 31-25. However, every individual perceives the creation of humanity and everything surrounding them by the way they analyze and how they see things from being truth and incorrect. According to the Christian worldview good news it involves, how God, Humanity, Jesus, the Restoration, the analysis and the reflection are examine through the gospels essentials.
