When I entered my sophomore year speech class, I went in assuming it would be the worst class of my life. The first assignment was an impromptu speech in which I had to sell an item in the room. Much to my shock, it went fantastically. I had so much fun with the speech and fell in love with selling stuff to people. Eventually I started working in retail and realized that marketing was the perfect career for me. After researching and learning about the career of a marketing manager, I knew it was the career I desired. A marketing manager’s goal is to create a desire in consumers for the product or service you are marketing. A few years have gone by since I discovered my love for business, and here I am now, pursuing that career.
Overall, a marketing manager is a problem solver, a people person, and an organizer. A marketing manager gathers data to improve decisions a business takes and plans strategies the business should take to effectively market themselves (blh). A lot of marketers actually work hands on and work with people on a daily basis. Being a marketing manager is a very social career. Typically a marketing manager will work for advertising companies, management companies, or an enterprise industry. In addition, many businesses will hire a marketing manager to help promote their business’s product/service. There is also lots of room for advancement in this career. As I stated previously, this occupation has some of the fastest advancement opportunities. Marketing managers are always in demand and it is easy to make your way to the top.
