9/8 Fast Write I have a friend that is younger than me. I met him last year during football, and he is some who is truly amazing to me. He comes from a rough past. His mother had an affair with another man and his father found out and wasn’t very happy. He ended up killing his mother. His father is now in prison. This caused him and his two brothers and sister to bounce around from foster home to foster home. A lifestyle that seems stressful and not very enjoyable. But the amazing part about this kid is he never seems upset or down about what he has faced. He always is happy and has a smile on his face, not only that, but he could always make me smile or laugh when I was not in a good mood. I struggle to see how he is so happy even though he …show more content…
This sports car is a convertible to give it an even sportier feel, but it is a wimp of a car underneath the hood because it is only a v6 engine. Though the lack of power that it has compared to the v8 models, she is still able to get up and go. The convertible top is starting to become run down, but that is also because it’s 15 years old. The rear wheel drive, which is now rare in cars is a blast, it makes driving a lot more fun when you are able to drift around corners. I have not driven this car in winter nor do I recommend it, the rear wheel drive would make it hard to go through snow, and the convertible top would surely take a lot of damage from the snow. One thing I dislike, is that the gear that you are in does not appear on the dash. Overall, it’s a fun car to drive and own, but my recommendation is this should not be your everyday car, it is only meant for nice and clear weather …show more content…
I have a strong feeling that it does help your body recover and heal faster. I find it especially helpful to go to one when participating in physical contact sports. I, from personal experience believe in them because my hip would always come out of place and in order to play at a high level it would help me by not having any injuries that would hinder my play. I also can’t imagine what I would feel like right now if I didn’t go to one because my body would have taken a longer time to recover. My reason for writing about this is because I know it helped me personally recover faster, and I care enough that I want to share this information with you on why I find chiropractic health care to have more benefits then
Graston instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (GITSM) is a tool used by therapist and chiropractors to help break up the scar tissue and replace it with fibroblast allowing for faster recoveries (Black 2010). A series of heat, GISTM, then strength and flexibility training are required (Black 2010). Numerous studies have been conducted, by certified therapist qualified in GISTM, to examine the styles and recovery periods after an injury. After going through the treatment, patients are measured by their range of motion (ROM) to see if the treatments were effective or not (Black 2010). ROM can vary depending on the region of the body that is being treated, but the overall goal of GISTM is to allow a person to get back to their regular routines they had before their injury. A study conducted by Logan College of Chiropractic shows that plantar fasciitis (foot) can be treated by GISTM on the first day of treatment (Daniels and Morrell 2012). Another study by Duke University shows that GISTM can be effective for patients after surgery that had an injury in the Patellar tendon (knee) (Black 2010). After several treatments, GISTM can, also, be used to treat a compression fracture in the lumbar (back) (Papa 2012). Each study shows the method of GISTM, the patient’s recovery period along with the methods of recovery.
There are many different kinds of vehicles on the road, but the ones that stand out the most are muscle cars and sports cars. Their unique design and body styles will catch people’s attention wherever they go. The Ford Mustang, a high performing muscle car introduced in 1964, is the most notable muscle car on the streets. It is most known for its unique body design with a long hood and short, rear decks. Their high performing V8 engines make their exhausts have a really deep, loud growl. When you think of sports cars, the first that comes to mind is the Chevrolet Corvette. Its sleek body style paired with its ability to stick to the ground around corners, makes it a very notable sports car in America. The two most iconic versions of these
They also lower people's blood pressure which helps saves their life. Chiropractors don’t need medication or any kind of surgery to make their patients feel relieved of pain. Chiropractic care is popular all over the world. Although the chiropractic profession was founded in the United States in 1895, spinal manipulation has a long history of use in China. The first time chiropractic care was used in the United States, it brought back a guy’s hearing back in 1895 by Daniel David Palmer. Just remember the next time a person pulls or throws out a muscle tell them to go see their closest chiropractor, they will make them feel like a new
Individuals who go through the process of becoming a chiropractor are dedicating their lives to improving others through their own hands. Giving a patient relief and satisfaction without harming their body with drugs that can have horrible side effects is a feeling that is unlike anything else. Facilitating an individual to heal and strengthen their entire life is what chiropractors strive for and many accomplish that ambition. Additionally, studies and surveys have shown why students of chiropractic choose this profession. The top reasons were that they truly want to help people and heal them, the increase in financial status, and the ambition of having the title “Doctor.”
The word “chiropractor” has two word origins, the Greek words cheir and praxis; meanwhile, cheir means “hand” and praxis means “practice.” Also, most of the work that chiropractors do is done by hand (Pike para. 5). In 2002, going to a chiropractor was found to be the most commonly used program for therapy. Seventy-four percent, about 4 million, of people that had back pain went to a chiropractor to get treated. Among that 74 percent of people, 66 percent of them stated that they got “a great benefit” (Pike para. 9). Many chiropractors work full time but 1 out of 3 chiropractors work part time. Chiropractors work whenever their patients need them, even on w...

I have always aspired to be a chiropractor. Chiropractors treat patients with health problems of the neuromusculoskeletal system including the nerves, bones, muscles, ligaments, and tendons. They use spinal adjustments as well as manipulation, usually on the neck back (“Summary”). I chose to go down the path of chiropractic practice because I have always been interested in it. It is important to understand the education and training requirements, skills and talents needed, salary and benefits offered, and the duties while making your career choice a chiropractor.
I am not only fluent in Somali language, but I am Somali American in Minnesota, and Somali people tend to have a holistic philosophical orientation toward health; furthermore, alternative medicine would play great role for wellbeing of the community. Chiropractic medicine would provide me with the balance that I seek in my professional work, the holistic balance and approach to the patient, with a complete understanding of physiology with a constant eye towards preventative care without using drugs, and surgery. Upon building my exposure in the field through helping individuals with physical limitations, I aim to bring my successes to private practice and use them as a jumping off point for sustainable contributions to the community. It is my strongest belief that a health community is a healthy family. While I have personally not had direct experience with Chiropractic, I have been a patient at a Chiropractic office. I have been in a Chiropractic work environment and had the opportunity to observe a Chiropractor performing his
Physical therapy has been around since 460 BC (History of Physical Therapy). Yet, many people do not actually know what physical therapy is and how it benefits people with various injuries and surgeries. Many physical therapists personalize in different therapeutic practices including orthopedic, post-operative care, cardiovascular, neurologic, rehabilitation, or pulmonary rehab to specialize in the various needs of people. Physical therapy is more beneficial than chiropractors because it improves your mobility, prevents injuries, avoid surgery or recover more quickly from surgery, and the healing process is more natural and can help reduce pain.
A Chiropractor mainly focus on the proper alignment of the spinal area, and they also focus on the nervous system. On a typical day, Chiropractors usually see about 30 to 40 patients every day. When a patient comes in the office, the patients are walked to intersegmental traction table, which is table that mobilizes the spine to make it easier to access for the chiropractor. The patient would lay on the table for around 7-15 minutes, then walk into the doctor’s office. In his office, the patient would say where they have been feeling the pain for the past days, and the Chiropractor would record that and he would start to adjust her. What the chiropractor would need to know is where the patient feels the pain. Then he would need to check all of the x-rays and check for misalignment of the spine and diseases in the spine. Then he would adjust the patients in the need areas, then they would see the secretary to schedule there next appointment and make payments for that day.
The concept that pain means injury or damage is deeply embedded in the American consciousness. “I have never seen a patient with pain in the neck, shoulders, back or buttocks who didn’t believe that the pain was due to an injury, a “hurt” brought on by some physical activity.” Says Dr. John E. Sarno, M.D. “The pain started after I lifted my little girl” or “Ten years ago I was involved in a hit- from- behind auto accident and I have had recurrent back pain ever since.” Of course, if the pain starts while one is engaged in a physical activity it’s difficult not to attribute the pain to the activity. “But this pervasive concept of the vulnerability of the back, of ease of injury, is nothing less than a medical catastrophe for the American public, which now has an army of semidisabled men and women whose lives are significantly restricted by the fear of doing further damage or bringing on the dreaded pain again” (qtd. in “Healing Back Pain”). With good intentions, this idea has been encouraged by the medical profession and other healers for years. It has been assumed that neck, shoulder, back and buttock pain is due to injury or disease of the spine and associated structures and ligaments surrounding these structures- without scientific validation of these diagnostic concepts. “On the other hand,” States Dr. Sarno, “I have had gratifying success in the treatment of these disorders for seventeen years based on a very different diagnosis. It has been my observation that the majority of these pain syndromes are the result of a condition in the muscles, nerves, tendons and ligaments brought on by tension.”
One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school. His name was Kyle. It looked like he was carrying all of his books. I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? He must really be a nerd." I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on. As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him. They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt. His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him. He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes. My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him and as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye. As I handed him his glasses, I said, "Those guys are jerks. They really should get a life." He looked at me and said, "Hey thanks!" There was a big smile on his face. It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude. I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived. As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before. He said he had gone to private school before now. I would have never hung out with a private school kid before. We talked all the way home, and I carried his books. He turned out to be a pretty cool kid. I asked him if he wanted to play football on Saturday with me and my friends. He said yes. We hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him. And my friends thought the same of him.
He is always in good moods, always smiling and friendly to everyone even if they don’t deserve it. And though it can easily be mistaken that he’s never gets tired of being this way, he actually does. On the outside he displays himself as a very happy person, but on the inside he hurts too. Occasionally, he is bullied by people who aren’t used to his personality. They say hurtful things because they don’t understand why he is this way so happy and want to bring him down. Bullying like this can take a toll on someone like him. He goes through things like any other person does. He masks his problems and he knows how to control them and because of this, he is strong for it. He doesn’t display to everyone that he may be sad or has feelings of
My mom’s parents both passed away before she was 19 years old, and Corey’s father passed away when he was about 3 and my mom moved away when he was about 17 so he pretty much grew up without parents after that point. One of the biggest differences between Corey and my mom is his mindset. There are two types of people, the ones who make excuses for everything, give up when faced with adversity and think that failure is okay. Then there the people who strive for success, the people who look at a problem or adversity and work as hard as they can to surpass that problem, people who realize that excuses don’t make a difference at the end of the day. Unfortunately, my mother is one of those people who will use the same excuse whenever things are starting to look bad, she will bring up some story about her parents passing away and just let the bad memories dictate her life. Corey could do the same thing if he wanted to but instead he works to overcome whatever issue stands in front of him, he doesn’t bring up the past, or make excuses, he just gets things done because he realizes that excuses don’t matter. He works hard and try’s to be the best husband and father for his family that he can be and doesn’t let a bad past hold him back, instead he uses that bad past as a motivation to do better in
Life teaches us a lot of things. But none is a better teacher than friendship (Importance of Friendship). There is one person who knows who I really am and that is my best friend, Danny. Friendship is a special love. Finding a true friend is always hard. So when one is found, it is important to hang on tight. The greatest gift of life is friendship, and I have received it. Growing up, I was the girl that was confident, strong, and had all the answers. No one had fully ever understood me or my actions, I was constantly on the move, keeping myself busy with any task or activity I could get my hands on, and I never told anyone the entire truth to why that was. My appearance to always seeming assured, formidable and dependable could be imputed to one prevailing time period, but was separated into hundreds of different memories of my past, each with their cause and effect. However, it started with one substantial hit, afflicting me in my teenage years.
