When the door shut quietly, it slowly woke me up and then I remembered. Today was the day of the launch. The 3 day journey was going to commence shortly. I had to get ready, I slipped into my normal clothes, prepared to not wear them for 3 days, and grabbed my car keys. I locked the door to my apartment, and jogged over to my Ford Escape. I got in and went to NASA and showed security my pass. They let me in, I parked my car, and went in the administration office I signed in, and went to meet Harry in room E-31. When I arrived there Harry was already there. He gave me my under layer and my suit. The suit was polished had the U.S Flag, and my last name. I slipped myself into the suit and headed to the launch deck. A Paramedic checked that I
We’ve all been on a vacation. Florida, The Bahamas, California. We’ve all been somewhere and I went somewhere. The whole way there I tried to act like a seasoned traveler, like I knew what I was doing. But I was a newbie. I had never travelled without my family. I had never left the East Coast and here I was, on a flight to Costa Rica with 20 of my peers and teachers. I have the window seat. So I sit down in my pajamas and wait to see who will sit next to me. I move my things around and get situated, close my eyes. And we’re off. Well, my “nap” only lasted about 20 minutes, so I decided to look out the window and enjoy the scenery. After the 5th hour I was probably hallucinating, because there was no scenery at 36,000 feet. It was
First, I had to take a flight from Phoenix to Los Angeles. Then when we arrived in Los Angeles we had to go through the security process to another country. I waited to a line that lasted for almost an hour, they checked my bags, asked for my passport, and patted me down. Soon I boarded my flight to London, England. As I walked onto the plane I realized this was the biggest planes I have ever seen. The plane was two stories and had multiple sections. I saw first class and wished I could have the luxury of sitting up in those giant spacious chairs. Sat down in my coach seat and dreaded this twelve hour flight of no leg room. I looked around to see all other girls from the west coast that also won All American. Once again anxiety flooded my body, I knew absolutely no one
One day we went to Yosemite National Park to visit again for my birthday because I asked to go there again. It took a very long time to get there. When we got there we had to pay at the main entrance, the park ranger said, "$30 dollars please", in a Texas voice. The park ranger said,"Enjoy your way into beautiful Yosemite. But the day before we had to pack lunch, fruit, vegetables, and clothes just in case we got wet in the water. But then we began our journey to Yosemite again. We found a spot to get wet but the water was very very cold so we tried to find another spot and we did. The water was so warm like a brownie out of a oven that's how warm it was. So then I got in the water with my brother
I did not want to leave. I had been here for ten days and I had established relationships and friendships with people from everywhere and all sorts of backgrounds. We all sat in the car preparing to leave. Every single one of us, my parents, brother and me, sitting in silence. Wanting to cry, waiting for someone to say the first word. Each of us had learned something that trip. For me, this experience had taught me what gratefulness was, the impact a good attitude has, what a servant looks like, and really how the relationships we make with our life is the most important aspect about life.
I ignored him and continued to the site. I pasted the code into the website and to my surprise a nice beautiful code came out a perfectly decrypted code. I pasted it back into the missile’s code and started searching. With all of the pressure on me I felt that every second that I searched and hour had gone by, but finally I found the exact line that said “-<//location//Washington D.C.//>-” I changed it to “-<//location//Atlantic Ocean//>-.” All of the sudden the room lit up and the alarm silenced. For a second there was a moment of silence for the people to get a grasp of what had just happened,
The veteran Wooster police officer likes to head south for vacations, and he eyes two destinations: St. Augustine, Fla., and the Caribbean.
“That’s one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind,” I say as I step out from Eagle, our lunar module, and place my foot on the powdery and silver moon. It’s 10:56 p.m. and the whole world is watching me. I’ve never thought this moment in my life would be so important to the world.
Slowly opening my dreaded eyes and blinking rapidly to shake off my state of unconsciousness, I peek outside of the airplane window to see where we were at. Scanning with my eyes to the top view, I could see the beautiful white miniscule stars that shines across the sky. Shifting my eyes down to the bottom, I glimpse at the vast amount of city lights that springs across the land. As I brainlessly stare through the window of the plane, I felt a slight bump on my shoulder. “Con trai, chúng tôi đang ở đây.” I glanced over my shoulder to hear the first few words my father spoke to gain consciousness upon landing in my parent’s holy majestic birthplace, Vietnam. Exhausted and excited, I replied back
bad as I expected it to be. The queue seemed to flow by. Like fish in
A cold breeze went up my spine causing my teeth to clatter. My whole body was numb, from my fingers to my toes. My legs began to shake uncontrollably, so bad that I held onto the starting block with a tenacious grip, hoping that I will not fall into the waters below. I can feel the hairs on my arms slowly rising as my heart was beating faster and harder as every second went by. Adrenaline wildly flowed through me as I tugged and pulled down on my cap. There it was; the sound of the buzzer, yelling at me to leave. Inhaling a great amount of air, I jumped into the freezing cold
there was no possible fishing hole in sight. All I could see was a river
I awoke to the sun piercing through the screen of my tent while stretching my arms out wide to nudge my friend Alicia to wake up. “Finally!” I said to Alicia, the countdown is over. As I unzip the screen door and we climb out of our tent, I’m embraced with the aroma of campfire burritos that Alicia’s mom Nancy was preparing for us on her gargantuan skillet. While we wait for our breakfast to be finished, me and Alicia, as we do every morning, head to the front convenient store for our morning french vanilla cappuccino. On our walk back to the campsite we always take a short stroll along the lake shore to admire the incandescent sun as it shines over the gleaming dark blue water. This has become a tradition that we do every morning together
"Yeah. Now let's go!" Zhums says impatiently. So we sneak around and try to find the enemies, but it was kind of hard when all you here is pop-pop and ahh from people screaming. We was still looking and I here pop-pop again, but it sounded pretty close. So i look back on Zhum he had got shot in the head. I was devastated, but a little relieved that I could finally go home. So as I was walking back to the space ship I felt a presence beside me. I look over and nothing was there, I was confused and scared so I started running and I finally got in and just now remembered that I dont know how to fly this thing.

There is nothing quite like traveling, going someplace new and finding out more about the world and yourself. Anyone can become a traveler it just takes a little bit of faith and courage. Traveling across the world or even across the country is a learning experience. When you are a traveler you see how people live and how different cultures work. It is the best educational experience you could give yourself. You see how the world works in a way no one can teach you. Seeing different cultures and people help build the person you want to be. I am very lucky that I am able to be a traveler and see this
