WOOSTER — When not in a cruiser, Matt Cruise likes to, well, cruise.
The veteran Wooster police officer likes to head south for vacations, and he eyes two destinations: St. Augustine, Fla., and the Caribbean.
Cruise and his wife, Tammy, went on their first cruise about eight years ago. Their neighbors were looking for something to do on vacation and decided to go on a cruise.
So, a small group went to the western Caribbean out of Port Canaveral, Fla., and “We just loved it. We kept booking (cruises), and we went with other couples. We just got hooked on them.”
As for why Cruise likes to cruise, “For me, it’s the freedom of feeling like you are separated from the world for a week. It’s like being on a floating city. I love to stand at the rail

Augustine, the nation’s oldest city.
“They have vacationed down there forever, and the first time I laid my eyes on the beach, I loved it,” Cruise said. He loves the cobblestone streets, the Spanish feel and the history.
The St. Augustine vacations are for the family, and the islands vacations are for friends.
When Cruise is not enjoying the islands or St. Augustine, he serves as the Wooster Police Division’s community relations officer. In April, he will celebrate his 25th anniversary as a full-time officer. Not bad for a career that was “an absolute fluke.”
At Triway High School, Cruise played baseball. He thought he might continue to play after graduation.
“I was in love with Tammy, and I was going to junior college (at Cuyahoga Community College) to play baseball,” Cruise said. “When I realized I wouldn’t buckle down and study, I came back and got a job.”
Cruise had entertained the idea of studying criminal justice in college, so when he came back to work, it was suggested he check out the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reserves. So, while working days at Curry Lumber, driving a truck and transporting Amish work crews and building pole barns, he spent his nights attending the Sheriff’s Academy. He got to know the Wooster police officers. He ended up working at the College of Wooster as a security officer, and he was a commissioned officer with Wooster

Sheen later approached high school and continued his interest in acting. Sheen attended Santa Monica High School, although his academics were not particularly good. The industry started a major growth phase in the late 1960s and early 1970s achieving more than 2,100 percent growth. The early goal of the cruise industry was to develop a mass market since cruising was until then an activity for the elite. A way to achieve this was through economies of scale as larger ships were able to accommodate more customers as well as to create additional opportunities for onboard sources of revenue. The global growth rate of the cruise industry has been enduring and stable, at around 7% per year in spite of economic cycles of growth and recession. For instance, the financial crisis of 2008-2009 has not impacted the demand for cruises. This underlines that the industry has been so far fundamentally supply based; the ships are built and the customers are found to fill them through various marketing and discounting strategies.
Greece-based Celestyal Cruises prides itself on a unique ability to showcase “authenticity” in its home country, and in striving to do that exposes travelers not only to popular, bustling ports of call, but also to charming hilltop villages; sleepy, out of the way tavernas; and locally-run businesses that date back generations. With slightly smaller, cozier ships, Celestyal is able to access ports that larger cruise ships cannot – just one of the features that sets this cruise company apart, allowing it to bring travelers to many unexpected and off the beaten path destinations in the Greek islands.

“Sinking or not, we have to get on one of these boats. It looks like they’re letting first-class on first, so we’re in luck.” I said to Joe. On the deck below us, I could see masses of people that looked like herds of sheep being rushed in one direction. I noticed myself a little more seasick than I was before, and that the deck seemed slanted. It was obvious the ship was sinking now. A guard nearby was calling for first-class passengers so we went there and climbed aboard.

I participated in a police ride-along with the Fairfax County Police Department on October 30th. I chose the Fair Oaks District Station for the ride since my home falls within that particular district’s boundaries. At 8 p.m., I was introduced to Officer Crutchman; the police officer I would be accompanying for the night. We headed out after a brief overview of some safety rules and expectations. Over the course of the shift I was able to observe many of the routine duties of a FCPO such as responding to calls, setting speed traps, performing traffic stops, assisting fellow officers, and patrolling neighborhoods and public parks. Officer Crutchman provided valuable insight into police work, beyond the procedural knowledge that Mason classes
In 2013-14 Tauranga had 83 voyage calls, 25 vessels entering with 83 port days in total. They also had 100 unique passengers and 149,000 passenger port days. Tauranga has established itself as a go-to destination for cruise passengers, with its natural beauty and friendly locals it is not hard to see why. Over the years, Tauranga’s cruise tourism has changed from the 2013-14 statistics, the amount of voyage calls this year has gone down but the amount of unique passengers has gone up to 160,100.
Our parents had arranged for a cruise from Houston, Texas with stops at Cancun and Cozumel, Mexico. Then a one-day stop in Honduras and back to the U.S.A.
Ever since Sunset Beach has been officially opened to the public, there has been a drastic increase of tourists present. Television programs concluded that at least a thousand people visit the beach everyday. Reasons for their stay are that they feel comfortable with the environment that surrounds the beach front, people who are at the beach are joyous and numerous activities to enjoy, and the fresh scent of the sparkly waters, make the visitors feel calm and pleasurable. So I decided to take a trip there.
