“Innovation is change that unlocks new value.” ~Jamie Notter. The technological innovations of the 1990s influenced the world in countless ways. The inventions of the decade such as the World Wide Web, the Hubble Space Telescope, Napster, and the cloning of Dolly the Sheep paved the way for the new values the world knows today. Dolly the Sheep was created in Scotland in 1996, becoming the first successfully cloned mammal. The formation of the World Wide Web in 1990 is credited to Tim Berners-Lee and Robert Cailliau. The World Wide Web is an online system that allows anyone to access information and communicate with other people when connected to the internet. Another monumental invention of this decade is the Hubble Space Telescope, which was …show more content…

The successful cloning of Dolly inspired scientists and many others at the time to work harder toward advancements in the stem cell field as well as the possibility of cloning other mammals, or even humans (Weintraub). After Dolly was cloned, scientists began to build on the idea of cloning and what could come of it. Dolly’s birth gave them hope that advancements in cloning could immensely benefit the world. One of the most beneficial impacts of the creation of Dolly has been the effect it has had on advancements in stem cell research. After Dolly’s birth, biologists like Shinya Yamanaka began to use adult cells of mice to create stem cells that can form a diversity of other cells, eventually maturing into an entire new adult (Weintraub). As a result of the creation of Dolly, cloning has evolved from the birth of a sheep to the creation of human stem cells. Scientists hope that these stem cells will cure diseases that humans have been looking to cure for many years. The effect Dolly has had on the medical field continues to grow every day as scientists discover new ways to use stem cells to benefit humans and change the world. Many of these scientists are sharing their discoveries and research through the World Wide
By applying research from cloning normal cells to cloning stem cells, a wider range of people can be helped, and the cost of procedures will be lowered. Scientific research into cloning will allow doctors study how to safely replicate
This article discusses the use of the Internet in the classroom and how it can be used to personalize education. The effectiveness of the Internet in the classroom is evaluated at the Henry Hudson Regional School in Highlands, New Jersey. A faculty member at the school explains that the Internet was introduced to their classrooms to expand limited electives, advanced placement, and foreign language offerings. The use of the Internet allows small schools to provide an education that would not be economically possible without it.
The 1990s were a decade of music, technology advancements, dancing, and more. From new dances to celebrities, the 90s was the start of a new era of many things. This research will look at technological advancements, historical events, trends, and many more things about the 1990’s. A major technological advancement One major technological advancement was the World Wide Web. Evidence to support this is that according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Wide_Web, “The World Wide Web (www) changed how people access and share information”.
In recent years our world has undergone many changes and advancements, cloning is a primary example of this new modernism. On July 5th, 1995, Dolly, the first cloned animal, was created. She was cloned from a six-year-old sheep, making her cells genetically six years old at her creation. However, scientists were amazed to see Dolly live for another six years, until she died early 2005 from a common lung disease found in sheep. This discovery sparked a curiosity for cloning all over the world, however, mankind must answer a question, should cloning be allowed? To answer this question some issues need to be explored. Is cloning morally correct, is it a reliable way to produce life, and should human experimentation be allowed?
Recent discoveries involving cloning have sparked ideas of cloning an entire human body (ProQuest Staff). Cloning is “the production of an organism with genetic material identical to that of another organism” (Seidel). Therapeutic cloning is used to repair the body when something isn’t working right, and it involves the production of new cells from a somatic cell (Aldridge). Reproductive cloning involves letting a created embryo develop without interference (Aldridge). Stem cells, if isolated, will continue to divide infinitely (Belval 6). Thoughts of cloning date back to the beginning of the twentieth century (ProQuest Staff). In 1938, a man decided that something more complex than a salamander should be cloned (ProQuest Staff). A sheep named Dolly was cloned from an udder cell in 1997, and this proved that human cloning may be possible (Aldridge). In 1998, two separate organizations decl...
A WebQuest is partly like a traditional lesson plan, but it is designed by teachers with software, such as Microsoft FrontPage, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel in a form of website in which learners follow the instruction set up by teachers and learners must do all the tasks after reading numerous discrepant webpages with the links supplied by the instructors. Working as a professor of Learning Design and Technology at San Diego State University (SDSU), Bernie Dodge was the WebQuest creator. In 1995, designing the first frameworks of WebQuest, He defined WebQuest as ‘an inquiry-oriented activity in which some or all of the information that learners need for the assignment comes from various websites on the Internet. Information technology has been being developed
The Benefits of Human Cloning In recent years, many new breakthroughs in the areas of science and technology have been discovered. A lot of these discoveries have been beneficial to the scientific community and to the people of the world. One of the newest breakthroughs is the ability to clone. Ever since Ian Wilmut and his co-workers completed the successful cloning of an adult sheep named Dolly, there has been an ongoing debate on whether it is right or wrong to continue the research of cloning (Burley).
I want my students to have the full benefits of me as a teacher and I believe learning about different educational theories will help me be a better teacher. In particular from this article I will take away that teachers are needed to help rear students to the right information and help them focus on what information is reliable. I also will take in consideration my own techniques as a student. I am guilty of multitasking during assignments and even “googlification”. I think the internet has benefited my generation in many ways but has also done a disservice on real research. I hope as a future teacher to really teach my students to research and find valid, reliable, and understanding information of the internet. A teacher in this new generation must adapt to the technology available to students and realize they will be using these resources. I hope to find a balance in my classroom between technology, self-educating, and learning
Most of the time the Internet makes learning fun, unlike the plain fashion of the "almighty" textbook. Computers and other technology can also heighten the learning process by actively engaging students in the task of exploring data. Some students may be tempted to simply download information from the Internet that does not have anything to do with a particular subject that they were asked to research. This shows that the Internet may have a greater impact to education than to learn that information from a typical textbook. Since computers and the Internet have expanded the way with which
The Impact of the Internet on Education A dusty, one-bedroom schoolhouse on the edge of a village. An overworked teacher trying to manage a room full of boisterous children. Students sharing schoolbooks that are in perpetual short supply, crammed in rows of battered desks. Children worn out after long treks to school, stomachs rumbling with hunger.
In total the Internet has not only increased the amount of learning possibilities in the classroom but it has created infinite amounts of learning opportunities for students and teachers.
It is a constant truth that technology is growing rapidly and it is opening up many opportunities for students as well as teachers. Through the use of the internet information that would take scholars months to acquire out and interpret can be found in less than a minute though a Google search and not only is the information their, but in many cases the information that you wanted is shown in bolded so it can even be found quicker.
Many schools have made the decision to go high-tech and create their own web pages via the World Wide Web. This allows them to advertise themselves to the virtual community. There has, also, been a change in how the Internet is being accessed by the various school systems. Dial-up Internet access has often been replaced by the high speed or cable Internet.
As time goes by, advances in technology will provide more and more avenues for learning by way of the computer. The Internet has opened the doors of the world and unleashed limitless possibilities in research and education. It may be only a matter of time when the classroom is brought online to all children and attending a school classroom outside the home is a thing of the past. Looking back over the last 20 years, I never would have imagined that computers would come this far and impact our lives so much. Just imagine where they will be 20 years from now.
Students nowadays, are so focus on technology and how they can put their hands in technology. As a future teacher I believe that, the best way to capture my student’s attention is by providing them with tools that can motivate them to learn. With the use of technology, I may approach teaching differently by encouraging my students to use on-line resources. Using on-line resources, would be beneficial for the students, because they would be able to explore many on-line resources. The students would be encouraged to use the on-line materials, I as a teacher would encourage them to use. Such as Internet Workshops and WeQuests. As a future teacher I would want to use Internet workshops and WebQuests, because I would want to increase my student’s motivation to
