How to Be a Strong Christian

As most people think, Christians are people who go to Church every Sunday, pray to God, and believe that Jesus is their Savior. These people are right, and what they explained is what all Christians have in common. As a Christian myself, I know that there are two types of Christians. There are strong Christians who diligently obey their rule of conduct that is written in the Bible, and who are not easily influenced by the worldly thinking. There are also weak Christians who care more about what other humans think of them than God. All Christians strive to be a strong Christian, and to do so, they need to hear the gospel (H), think and meditate on what they have heard (T), examine or read the Bible daily (E), analyze or study the Bible (A), remember Bible verses (R), and most crucially, apply the Bible verses in real life, which makes the HEART and Apply Principle.

Firstly, strong Christians hear the gospel (H). In Luke 10:38-42, the Bible tells the story of Martha and Mary, who are sisters, and when Jesus and his twelve disciples come to their house, Mary listens to Jesus’ teaching, while Martha prepares dinner for Jesus and the disciples. When Martha asks Mary to help her, Jesus says to Martha that she worries too much about the trivial details, and not on what is really important, which is listening to Jesus’ words. Through this Bible story, we can learn that we need to go to Church or a Bible study once a week, no matter how busy we get with our daily tasks. Compared to listening to God’s words, our work and study is insignificant.

Next, strong Christians analyze about what they hear (A). In Acts 17:11, the Bible tells the story of Paul preaching in a region called Berea, and after hearing Pau...

...ost importantly, we need to apply the Bible verses in our real life. In James 1:23-24, it is written that “For if you listen to the word, and don’t obey, it is like glaring at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like.” It is pointless to go see in the mirror and forget what you look like after you walk away from the mirror, just as it is meaningless to observe the HEART rule, but not allow the Bible to become our daily code of conduct. Isn’t it a waste of our time and energy if we obediently adhere to the HEART principle, but never consider applying what the Bible tells us to do in real life?

All Christians got to prevent themselves from being weak “Christians” and work towards being a strong Christian by following the HEART and Apply principle so that others can see Christ in them, and they can honour God everyday.
