Do you believe in love at first sight? Many tragedies and dramatic events happen throughout this play. In, ‘Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet’ by William Shakespeare, a family feud between the Montague and the Capulets, has been going on for ages; however, two teenagers, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet, fall in love and get married. This causes many fights and people dying, including themselves. There are many characters to blame for all of these deaths. Benvolio is the cause of all these deaths because he convinced Romeo on going to the Capulet party, Benvolio gave up on finding Romeo when he disappeared after the Capulet party, and Benvolio didn’t defend Mercutio when he fought with Tybalt.
Although, Romeo could’ve been the guilty one for causing all of these deaths. Why not what caused Romeo to fall in love with Juliet in the first place. Benvolio convinces Romeo to crash the Capulet party. “Your lady’s love against some other maid That I will show you shining at this feast, And she shall scant show well that now seems best.” (I,II,99-101) This quote is showing how Benvolio is telling Romeo there are plenty women in the world and Rosaline isn’t the most beautiful girl. Who supported the idea of Romeo and Tybalt fighting? Who didn’t defend Mercutio when he was fighting with Tybalt? Benvolio did. Benvolio is the cause of all the deaths in the play “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet.” Benvolio didn’t think right when he convinced Romeo to go to the party. He didn’t think of the consequences. Benvolio knew Romeo would fight with Tybalt. He should’ve of thought of the consequences again. Finally, he didn’t try to save Mercutio when he fought.
