Annotated Bibliography My topic is the study of tensegrity, which is a combination of the words “tension” and “integrity.” It means that the integrity of a structure is derived from the balance of members in tension, rather than compression. Askeland, Donald R., and Wendelin J. Wright. Science and Engineering of Materials.Boston, MA: Cengage Learning, 2016. Print. This is the textbook for my materials science and engineering class. It contains information about the behaviors and properties of materials such as metals and polymers. This source will prove useful because in the field of tensegrity, the type of material used to make a structure is very important. In the field of engineering/tensegrity, this source is considered as a reference …show more content…
"Tensegrity, Weaving and the Binary World." Kenneth Snelson. Web. 10 Oct. 2015. . This is the personal website of artist Kenneth Snelson. Snelson is known for his sculptures that utilize tensegrity. This website contains his biography, pictures of his art, Q&A, and much more. This source’s role in the discipline of tensegrity is as a general-audience blog/website. It contains many things related to tensegrity, however, it lacks a mathematical and engineering approach because it is more art-focused. I can contribute to this work with a project I am currently involved in. I am working with a local artist who is interested in tensegrity, and I am helping him with the engineering side of …show more content…
"Tensegrity Structures and Their Application to Architecture." Tensegridad. Web. 10 Oct. 2015. . Tensegrity is a versatile field that can apply to subjects such as biology & engineering. This is a case study on an important field of tensegrity, which is architecture. This is a great source because it elaborates on different types of structures that utilize tensegrity. As this case study is focused on a single aspect, I don’t see anything that is missing. I don’t know if I am able to contribute to this type of work because this type of work is currently beyond my scope. Hutson, Michael, and Richard Ellis. "Tensegrity: The New Biomechanics."Tensegrity: The New Biomechanics. Oxford University Press, 2006. Web. 11 Oct. 2015. . This is a unique source that focuses on tensegrity in the world of biology. This textbook excerpt observes biomechanics that utilize the principles of tensegrity. This would be considered a reference material because it is from a textbook, and its use is to be informative. This source does not seem to lack anything, as it covers both the biological side and the mathematical side. This work is quite advanced, so there is nothing I can currently
Carcasses attract scavengers. The Guilty Party by O. Henry showcases the untimely death of a girl of twelve, Liz. Above Chrystie Street on the east side, a strange bird stalks the children of the playground. Although people say it’s a stork, locals call it a vulture. In this case, Liz is the carcass that the vulture sets its eyes on.
The word integrity is defined in the dictionary as “adhering to moral and ethical principles” or simply, “honesty.” It is having a state of mind where a person believes in doing the right thing even if no one is paying attention. These are the people who have set morals for themselves, and they stick to them no matter how tempting it may be to disobey them. It’s all about self control and making sticking to your morals a habit. Making habits starts when people are young and impressionable, such as in high school.
This research paper will be used to acknowledge the trending factor in our criminal justice system of wrongful convictions. Wrongful convictions socially can be defined as convicting the innocent and punishing the not guilty. In other words, wrongful convictions play a huge part of our flawed Criminal Justice system. In order to fix and come up with a solution, we will have to first come to basis of first understanding the issue, then using this information to gain ideas to which we can apply to access better results to the issue of wrongful convictions. Once we come up with a reasonable solution to this problem then we can conclude that the data will show an eminent decrease in this trend. The causes of wrongful convictions include the “Snitch” Testimony, Eyewitness misidentification, false confessions and much more that I will add during the readings of this paper.
Most people aren’t familiar with ways our government is trying to lower health care costs of the homeless by putting them in houses, here is their chance to learn. “Housing First” approaches are aimed at reducing the number of homeless people in metropolitan cities, especially in USA and Canada. In Tulsa, the Mental Health Association operates housing models that are successful using the Housing First approach, but only with a success rate of around nine percent. These programs are able to help people achieve self-sufficiency. Special consideration is given to people who have mental illnesses. The main advantage of the approach is it makes an efficient use of the existing systems and services, and then eliminates the need for new ones. The approach has been said to lead to better quality of life, less alcohol and substance use among the beneficiaries, and less use of emergency services by the beneficiaries. Despite all of the advantages and purposes, the program has many challenges that make one think it’s not as successful as first projected. This could lead to program loss or the challenges being dealt with appropriately. If the government wants to use money to help end homelessness, they should put it towards resources and organizations that can, not towards homes where the homeless go to be ignored.
4. Balance: How are the parts of the work arranged? Is there symmetry or no symmetry? Is movement implied? Is it dynamic or static composition?
Integrity means the quality of being honest. Your integrity is tested every day in school and often people chose to disregard their morals and perform dishonest actions. These actions include but are not limited to plagiarism, copying a friend’s homework, or cheating on a test. It is also considered wrong to allow a friend to cheat off of you or copy your homework. Just like every other student in high school I am guilty of all of these things.
Ethical theories are a way of finding solutions to ethical dilemmas using moral reasoning or moral character. The overall classification of ethical theories involves finding a resolution to ethical problems that are not necessarily answered by laws or principles already in place but that achieve justice and allow for individual rights. There are many different ethical theories and each takes a different approach as to the process in which they find a resolution. Ethical actions are those that increase prosperity, but ethics in business is not only focused on actions, it can also involve consequences of actions and a person’s own moral character.
Honesty is a characteristic that everyone should possess. However, being honest is a difficult task for many people. Living honestly means allowing a person’s true self to be exposed to others. Honesty is considered owning up to one’s wrongdoings and not lying, cheating, or stealing. Being honest is a trait that many people believe is obsolete. Even though every person interprets honesty differently, it all stems back to telling the truth. Being honest allows a person to earn respect from their peers. Honesty is allowing oneself to be completely exposed by being truthful.
The ten defending moment of my life: is when my parents got divorced. It was a big change in my life. My parents were raised differently, they had different view of life and therefore they could not really understand each other. They god divorce when I was a five years old since that time my life totally changed not only mine but also my mom’s and sister’s life. I thought divorce is bad and my mom did everything to support us with shelter and food, I saw how she was in depression she worked every day and I felt very pity for her, I wanted to help her but I could not because I was very young. Divorce can be negative causing alienation I started to lose my self-esteem, not being able to trust anyone. Second defending moment is when my grand mom
I agree with the statement "honesty is the best policy". People will be able to trust people who are honest, liars will have rumors spread around about them, and it's just plain easier to tell the truth. Nobody likes people who lie all the time and won't know whether to trust them or not. People get annoyed by people who lie a lot.
Honesty and integrity are very important in the medical field. We as healthcare workers are given such trust and responsibility. We should always strive to do our best and when faced with tough situations. When we don't always know what to do or the proper way to react we should always be honest. Let our superiors know what is going on and ask for advice when we need to. This would show that we are honest. When we come into contact with patients they rely on us to do the right thing and always perform our job with integrity. Often people’s lives are in our hands. We have to care about the patient and care about our job in order to continue to provide quality care. If someone hates their job they are not going to give their best in every way they can. The medical field is not a place for that person.
Last year, I was involved in designing a roof for a proposed Tate Modern extension in a project sponsored by architecture firm Ove Arup. For this, I gained a Crest 'Gold' Award but more importantly the opportunity to investigate something from a technical point of view, thus branching away from my mainly unscientific subject base.
By definition lie means: A lie is a false statement to a person or group made by another person or group who knows it is not the whole truth, intentionally (2).
