Growing up as a kid having a whole hot wheels car collection that filled up a whole milk carton crate I would have expected to fulfill my dream of being a nascar driver. Well a kid can dream, but as I got older that dream seemed pretty far fetched due to my interests progressing towards computers and my truck getting horrible gas mileage so going fast isnt an option. Ive always liked taking things apart and seeing whats inside of them and see how everything works just to see it. I didn’t really know what I was looking at, but the fact that it did something and all those tiny diodes and capasitors talked to eachother to make everything work was fasinating. I liked it, because I knew that not everyone could build something like that
Baseball was my life for fifteen years; learning values and tracing favorite memories back to my baseball journey make me grateful for these experiences. However, after a year of playing baseball in college while battling an injury, I decided to alter my goals; ultimately choosing to leave baseball behind. Finishing out the school year and anticipating what I might expect in the future left me feeling lighter; I believed I made the right choice. While on summer break, reflecting on my decision and thinking about my next journey, I became uncomfortable: I was no longer athletically active; I was no longer dedicated to a team, and I did not anticipate the search to find myself would leave me feeling uneasy. My fresh start began by transferring
My biggest dream is become a doctor surgeon, be one of the best here in Laredo, Texas to help the people of my community, I will take being a Hispanic as an advantage to achieve all my goals because now is one of the best things that can passed to my
The racing world is full of adrenaline and excitement. From off road rally races to the blinding speeds of the Indy 500, racing has many shapes and forms. Perhaps the most action packed racing event is NASCAR, otherwise known as “National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing”, “Non-Athletic Sport Created by Alcohol and Rednecks”, and “Not A Sport Circles Are Round”. This favorite pastime is appreciated by all of the sweet-tea loving, sunburnt necks in the south.
What is something you feel so passionate about that you want to dream about doing it one day? One thing that I hope to do in the future that I dream about is to make wreckless cars! You might be wondering what I mean by “wreckless cars” well you are just about to find out.
I encountered a “bump in the road” at a young age. I began playing softball at age six when Kylie, my elementary school friend, came to show and tell with her first place T-ball trophy. At the time, I had only played soccer, but the thought of swinging a bat as hard as I could and having people in the stands cheer for me, inspired me to ask my mother to register me for the local recreational league. Before I knew it, I was lacing up last year’s soccer cleats and stepping up to bat in my first coach-pitch softball game. My father, being the coach, stood on the mound and lobbed in the fattest meatball every hitter dreams of. With the ding of my second-hand garage sale bat, the ball sailed over the shortstop. Some may have called it beginner's luck, but I called it a sign.
Athletics has made a difference in my life through its redefining of the word “success.” Before I got involved with track and cross country, success was measured by goals I set and achieved for myself that made me happy. Since then, I have realized that success is much more gratifying when it is dependent on making those around me proud. In track, success is when I have trained hard enough so that I am able to help my relay team win a race or break the school record. In cross country, success is when I have built up enough endurance to contribute to the team score and help my team move on to the state meet. This mentality has translated to my daily life, as I am constantly working hard to please those around me. At school, I always do my homework and get good grades so that my teachers do not have to focus extra energy on getting me to do my work. At work, I strive to go above and beyond my typical duties so that I can lessen the responsibilities of my co-workers. At home, I help out with chores without being asked so that my parents can have one less thing
As an avid fan of an atmosphere enthralled with competition, and packed with an indefinite supply of suspense and engagement, I can confirm that the Rocket League title fulfills the natural tendency of our minds to wander into a world in which competitive superiority, and progressive advancement yields satisfaction and promotes collaboration. Indeed, after 896 hours of gameplay, I have experienced exhilarating victory - the product of numerous nail-biting saves, howling shots, and graceful aerial goals of which solidify one's sense of freedom. From the novice ranks of Prospect, boasting my innocence as a new player in the world of Rocket League, to the evolution of skill and advancement in competition as was highlighted by my rise to the star ranks-later known as Platinum and Diamond- I enjoyed pondering upon the idea that I had an everlasting potential to improve and increase my rank. Watching the champions of Rocket League engage in fierce battle
The one thing that an athlete doesn’t want to hear is that they cannot play their favorite sport because of an injury they recently got. This actually happened to me when I injured my knee while lifting high amount of weight. After my lifting class I was walking perfectly and prepared to get through the rest of the day. Only an hour later I couldn’t walk with my right leg and had to limp through the rest of the day. Two hours after I was limping and trying not to cry from the sharp, acute sting in my right knee.
“Ability is what you are capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it,” (Lou Holtz). Anyone is capable of doing anything they set their mind to as long as they are working towards that goal or aspiration. If you motivate yourself, you will see the positive outcome of your hard work and dedication. You have to remember to encourage yourself no matter if you fail or know you’ll succeed. Track and Field has been beyond meaningful to my life. Not only has it taught me many valuable lessons, but it also helped unearth potential I didn’t realize I had. Track and Field is my sport because challenging myself and my body
The day you get your first car is like christmas morning for a kid. You are so ecstatic that you almost can not control yourself. But when you do get a car, you know, freedom is at your fingertips. This memory start in the middle of May. I have had my permit for a few months then, so I could drive. My dad said he wanted to help me get a car if I paid for gas and insurance. That is when I started searching Craigslist. I knew I wanted something with four wheel drive, and something that got decent gas mileage. I really liked old Ford Broncos at the time, but they got horrible gas milage, so that was off the table. My next choice was a 1985 toyota 4runner. They had great gas mileage, and good four wheel drive. I happened to be at my aunt and uncle’s house when my uncle said
My car is getting old, so because of normal wear and tear I perform a monthly preventive maintenance check. That means it is better to find and fix a small problem now then to discover a big expensive problem later. I start by opening the hood to check out the engine and its various components.
Cling! The sound of the ball off of the metal bat rings in my ears as the ball soars through the air. Smack! The sound of the ball hitting the next batter on his helmet. Whoosh! The sound the runner makes when running around the bases. This is my family and this is my life. Baseball has been in my family for generations as long as I know of. Baseball is everything to me and without it, I just wouldn’t be the same person as I am today. When spring comes around the corner, my body starts to shake and shiver with excitement as I get ready to play baseball. As the season approaches, the hair on my body starts to stand up and my legs begin to tremble as I walk. This is when I know how much I love baseball. My whole fantasy of becoming a baseball player began when I was a young kid.
...d find the right one, it gave me a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction that was indescribable. One is faced with many challenges like these as an electrical engineer, but it is worth all the trouble because once the program, device, or circuit works right, and is used by many people for different purposes, one feels accomplished and is ready to try a new challenge with a higher sense of self esteem.
I lived with my father for my entire life, but due to his work I did not spend much time with him. My father worked at a different city; and thus he comes home only a few times a month. My father is a mechanic. He works at a company that is distant from our home. This was due to the company being the only one and the first where cars were being assembled in Ethiopia. Sometimes on the weekends I used to go to his work place. He would give me a trip of the place; the station was filled with vehicles, trucks, and motorcycles. It was separated by sections. In each section there were only one type of vehicle and the assembly process was shown step by step. From a fuse to large engine of the car, components were getting attached.
Dreams do come true. Everyone in their life has a dream or two or three. Finding the way to achieve your dreams, goals, and aspirations is an epic journey on its own. It takes discipline, determination, and self -exploration. This is the tale of the journey I am still currently on.
